Ok, so I've been having fun looking over RPs and potentially joining some and I'm a little disturbed by the different levels of Literacy that is defined by RPers of all levels. First off, we have the Semi-Lit, which apparently is a strange hybrid of people who believe in writing legibly and making sense, but without the use of grammar. How this works, the world may never know...
Then on the opposite side of the Literate spectrum comes the Advanced Literates. These are the people who have way too much free time and pride themselves on it. I respect their obvious talent for making a simple scene such as walking down the hall turn into a four page affair, but I normally don't enjoy reading it.
However, there are a select few who can make their posts long and still interesting, adding information that is relivant and greater depth to their character. These select few RPers deserve a golden plaque.
Personally, I like detail, but I don't want to hear about every single tatoo some "bad-boy bishie" has scarred into his flesh stretched out over an entire parragraph. My hat is off to the regular Literates, the simple people who can use grammar, string together at least 10 sentences in interesting and exciting detail and get the message they want across. Length of post does not equal excellent writing a great deal of the time. Rather, it can be obnoxious to have to read so many words with so little point to them.
(And, yes, I know the hypocracy of complaining about people and grammar then misspelling half the words I write, but I don't honestly care.)
