It is the 5th of November, in the year 2006.
I recently got into a heated argument with several people on the forum about what the fine difference between pop and rock is. And, I am in the mood to vent to the extreme.
To those people who might remember me and keep arguing with me... you're all simple-minded buffoons who can't take anything beyond a literal definition. Pop music is popular music. This means that the music in this group is the most listened-to or most liked songs. In the United States, this "group" is almost entirely the hip-hop genre and pop singers who follow the trend of the latest sound.
My Chemical Romance is not pop music! Their newest song and music video, "Welcome to the Black Parade", happened to show up a couple times on the "pop" radio stations. And then, it died off simply because not too many people like the blunt, harsher tones that MCR revolves around.
Led Zepplin isn't pop music either! At least, in the U.S. Everyone knows Led Zepplin... that mean's Zepplin is famous. But, I'll bet you that a good deal of people haven't even heard one song. It's that entire "I've heard of that band or that singer" attitude that makes everyone assume that something is popular music. If it isn't listened to be a majority of music listeners, guess what? It's not pop right now. Pop music is time-oriented. Rock music is always rock music. And you can't change that. Alternative, heavy metal, classic, I love it all. Give me Disturbed, Static-X, MCR any day.
Sorry, Jim-Fred-Geraldine, if I sort of freaked you out.
Current Mood: stare (annoyed)
