Journal de Solymir
My life, my interests, and my knowledge.
So today was the first actual math meet. The school's been getting together for the past few weeks on Mondays and Wednesdays to practice. Our coach takes the past years tests and puts them in a packet, then we use them to practice. Last year, our school lost horribly to Mound's View. I think we have a chance this year.

I scored WAY better than I thought I would. I think everyone taking the A and B tests from my school did. Mrs.Kachel trained us nicely. Usually, I get around 3/14 points. On average, the freshman/sophomores get 5-6 points each on those. Of course, I'm the only one silly enough to join the Math team when I'm not even in honors courses. I would be if I did/turned in my hw though. Still, I'm behind the others. I actually got 7/14 points this time, so I feel extremely proud of myself. I'm also not the lowest score-er anymore. Yay!

There's six teams, Mounds View being the super genius team that went to state last year. Our school was really close to going last year, but we were too far off. This year seems promising. We weren't that far off from Mounds View in points. There are 5 tests total, A, B, C, D, and a sort of team test, where the best 8 or so in the team work together on a test. A and B tests are the easy ones, Algebra and Geometry. They also take place first. After they had put the scores up, we were actually way in the lead. However, after the D test, we were behind Mounds View. None of our D test takers were quite prepared for a test of THAT magnitude. Bummer.

Ah well, Math team = free donuts+pop, and a fairly nice social crowd. So it was pretty fun. And I still feel proud of myself!
