You have the blacks, whites, puerto ricans, and haitians
the asians, italians, indians, and jamaicans.
If only they knew what the others had to do
and where they had to get to, to finally make it through.
The heartache and pain, trouble and despair
wanting to stop the suffering but they can only stare.
Going through life with a mind clouded in fear
of when they'll finally be happy and can stop shedding tears.
But through the good and the bad they always seem to stick together
like a family in need, like birds of a feather.
But now when the worst is over and the times are here
the can stand hand in hand without having to fear...
about the authorities or their families that try to run their lives
saying that their living in darkness if they're not trying to hide.
Now they can go to the movies or go hang at park
playing ball or having fun without having to fear the coming dark.
They can hangout in school and be in the same class
without worrying about parents or teachers throwing rocks through the glass.
Being able to stand here now and say this to you
just proves that changes were made and the worst is probably through.
