hes a royal guard of the twili ruler.
when Zant managed to turn midna into an imp, he went out of the twili relm to try to find the hero of ledgend *link*.
however, when link started to close twilight walls, he was unable to find his way back to the twilight realm.
he had no idea were to find the mirrior of twilight.
he saw link and ganondorf fighting in hyrule field, and watched, hoping it was the dark lord and the destined hero. when he saw midna he knew it was.
he followed them to the mirror chamber, and hide, watching the mirror be destroyed. when Midna vanished he knew that his chance to return to the twilight realm was gone. He then pleaded to protect the Hero who protected his princess, and has been looking over Ordon every since. When the is howling and growling, and a monster is found dead in the village, it was him, protecting Ordon's people.
