So, I just got back from a showing of "Letters from Iwo Jima". It was really good. It's kind of interesting the way they made it run parallel to the movie "Flags of our Fathers". Flags showed the side of the battle of the US, whereas Letters showed the Japanese side. It's sorta depressing, and none of the main characters who die are killed by enemy combatants, but instead by themselves. Theres a pretty gruesome scene in which a group of Japanese soldiers "go to an honorable death", which somehow translates into "suicide with grenades". Not pretty.
Despite that, it was a very good movie, and if you can find a place that's running it (as it was a limited release, I had to go to the Keystone Art Cinema to see it.), I totally recommend seeing it.
