Shodiri's Journal: DECIPHER
A journal, you say? Why, what a novel sort of idea! In fact, I think the very phrase 'novel idea' will apply in time . . .
Trails of Ink
Forgive me for my late response this week, first of all. It's been a hectic week, to be sure. I've managed to ink out the first little bit of the first draft of Babel's Dictionary, and I'm quite pleased with that. All told, it amounts to the Prologue and the first part of Chapter 1, a very confusing (intentional, for the moment) little bit of flashback and memory.

It's all done with lights and mirrors, all.

Anyway, a curious thing happened to be on Gaia this week: I was given the opportunity to join a guild. I wanted to take a few days to consider the proposition, but Gaia's webmail system apparently cleans itself every week or so. Obviously, I never got to respond. But I hope the offer still stands. If you're out there, please answer. I chalk up this mistake to newbie naivete.

I'm leaving you this week with a quote that's actually by my own hand, as if I couldn't get any more conceited. I wrote this poetic little piece in a rather interesting thread called "What is love?", and I thought that it merited special attention. It was written in two minutes flat.

Quote:
Love is the most complex of human emotions. It shows not only that we have the ability to think, but also to choose one thing above all other things in a given category and, essentially, bind ourselves to it.

To define it, love is the utmost expression of affection and preference that it is possible to give to a person (or thing, like if you love doing something, i.e. writing). With all hope, then, love is the most pleasurable experience that it should be able for a human to feel. It is a relinquishing of your self to the self of another - a coming together that results in the most complete unity on Earth.

Love is not superficial, as it is so often portayed in today's society. Rather, love is the anti-superficiality. Love is achieving a goal, considering it deeply for the conquest that it was, and thereby achieving perfection.

Next week, I hope to explain where "DECIPHER" gets its name.

See you then.
