Yesterday, I had an honor band (yay!). It was extremely stupid, but then, most are. I speak from experience. Anyway, the honor band was two hours away from us, and we had to be ready by 8:00 AM. I had to get up at 4:30! xp It was really horrible. Since I am the only oboe in my band, and the other honor bands I'd gone to were arranged alaphabetically, it was the first time I'd had to audition for chair placement. The other two oboes had issues, so I got first chair. Yay! biggrin One of the kids from our school dropped out of band two days before the honor band, leaving her stand-in less than 24 hours to learn the music. She, unfortunately, got last chair, last clarinet. redface That sucked balls! by the time we were done, I'd been playing for almost 6 hours straight. I'd broken one reed, my lips were swollen to almost twice their normal size, and I could barely bend my right thumb. crying Plus,i lost my big purse, so I had to stuff everything into this dinky little thing. I could barely zip it! How annoying. On the other hand, it was (sort of) worthwhile, but I personally think that it is the end of the musical world as we know it when a seventh grade honor band can't play music that would be easy for a fifth grader. rolleyes Bye, now! -Emma twisted
