All Otakon Photos.
Saturday, July 21st
We got up around 8 to go to breakfast in the city [Mikky Ds again-blah] and I beelined to the Dealer’s Room [DR] once more and I got my brother G Gundam as a thank you since we were staying in his apartment. I also picked up a whole mess of yaoi first think then wandered over to the Gaia Online booth and I then met Emo-Demon Boy. We’d found Symph the day before, but I didn’t hang with her that much.
I left again to wander/shop some more before making my way up to the Maki Murakami panel. It was awesome seeing her! She seemed to be very nice. I was kind of sad that the only questions people asked about were from Gravitation and the remixes or the megamixes. There’s also Gamerz Heaven which I think should get more love. I had a question about it, but I never got picked, which made me sad.
But during the panel I did learn that Murakami gets various architecture books for reference for buildings and hospitals. She uses horror movies and stuff for assistance while drawing the megamixes, which is kind of odd, and she’s been using the computer ot ink her work for about ten years. While working, she gets bored easily and like to watch movies while working. One movie she likes is Doom.
She started Graviataion because she wanted to see that type of relationship between two men. And the series got super ridiculous with the weapons and the random because she was bored. She never expected to create Gravitation EX.
The Tokyopop translator who works with Murakami said she gets the pages as Murakami works on them and there are talks going on to have the Remixes [at least] brought over. Trying to figure out the demand and the reality of bookstores stocking them. Business s**t like that.
After Murakami’s panel I went to an ADV panel, they didn’t really tell me much I didin’t know, so while there I played Kirby. Then the Hellsing Ultimate panel I planned to attend was cancelled and the fan running it were no shows, but the Otakon staffers didn’t have the chance to post the scheduling change. I hung out with the twins before the Japanese writing workshop, but I didn’t learn anything I didn’t already know so I was like fukkit and left mid way and went back to the DR and hung out with Quinth, Symph and Emo-Demon Boy.
Matt and Jeff were there now, and some other peoples we knew. They went off to the video game room and I chilled in the DR. I bought a shirt that said ‘Seme: Always on top’ and I bought a few more manga before staying at the Gaia booth.
What was awesome was Quinth had won the chance to go to dinner with the Gaia staff, and I was freakin out because I had no one to go to dinner with [the twins were at the Masquerade] but DJHelsing asked Quinth if she had another friend, and I happened to be there and there was a girl who didn’t have anyone else to bring so I got to go too.
At dinner I sat next to CP who is one of the artists [no clue what his Gaia name i] and on the other side was DJHelsing. The girl who runs the Gaia store now, Stephanie, was near and Lanzer was on the other side of CP. Quinth, Symph and Emo-Demon Boy were s bit down the table from me, but could chat with Ducky and Lanzer. I spent dinner teasing CP with Stephanie which was fun. Gaia paid, which was cool, and then we had a photo shoot and mini signing of awesome with the staffers.
There was an event right after that which consisted of Gaian-Gaian-Newb, Freeze Tag, and Lanzer Says. I was the last ‘it’ person for GGN, but I sat out of Freeze Tag while Quinth wandered around taking photos. I joined in on Lanzer Says. Lanzer was aweful at it, but it was fun. “Lanzer says ‘raise your right hand’…Lanzer says raise your left hand…Now put down your right hand…Lanzer says make a jump”etc withmore hand raising and lowering. It was funny though, he was slow. DJ Helsing took over and half the people left lost in the first round.
We all hung out in the court yard for a while before Diane and ventured off into the city in search of a place where we could find her some stomach medicine. After walking or block upon block we chilled in a hotel but then got cornered by a homeless man who seemed to have a thing for Quinth. It was uber weird. Some woman who had walked past us realized we were sort of trapped and saved us.
We made out way back to the BCC and Quinth, Emo-Demon Boy, Symph and most of our group went to the Rave. I was tired and hung out by the stuff, which I regret now. One of the twins hung out with me and we chatted. Apparently during the rave, Lanzer danced with my group of friends and I was like ‘damn! I wish I’d been there’.
We stayed until security started kicking people out of the BCC, which was kind of funny. Outside before splitting up for the evening, DJ Helsing chatted with us for a bit more before he wandered off to where ever.
I barely had three hours of sleep before Sunday excitement because for some strange reason we were meeting for a super early breakfast Sunday morning.

Otakon 2007 Report
Friday, July 20th
So, here’s what happened to me, to the best of my ability from this past weekend =D
I drove from Northern VA to Baltimore on Friday morning with my friends. We parked on Eutaw St [ten bucks flat rate = ******** awesome!] We got there around noon and there was no line which was freakin’ awesome. We got our tags and then made out plan on what to do.
We went to the Dealer’s Room [DR] after realizing we had a few more hours to wait before getting into Artist’s Alley[AA]. In the DR I first tried to find Hawk from Applegeeks but Anath said he’d wandered off for a bit, so I showed Anath the bookmarks I’d made, but held onto them to give to Hawk later.
I wandered around and bought a box set of Outlaw Star and a whole mess of yaoi on Friday. I went back to the Applegeeks booth and Hawk was there. He totally loved the bookmarks which was a whole mess of uber win in my opinion. I got a sketch of Eve with a mini Hawk on her head. (I should have gone back to get another sketch, but I never did T.T when I was going to, Hawk wasn’t there) While in the DR I also got an Applegeeks Power symbol bandanna which is super awesome.
I hung out with my friend Quinth by the Gaia Online booth for a bit before wandering over to the AA. I met Garth of Comedity and got a penguin, some pins and an artist license. I wandered about and got a sketch from Mookie of Dominic Deegan and I met Christian from Little Gamers. He totally signed all of my LG book [I bought the three that were out] and because I got all three books I got a camo tee shirt, and I got him to draw me a Cute Ninja in book 2 [I think]
I then met Dina Stu who draw/writes Pandect and I gave her the bookmarks I’d made for her. Those too soo ******** long to make! I made Fleance, Teddy, Theo and Rufus, and colored them all, just like the AG ones. She really liked them, and I bought some pins from her and got a cute little Edgar doodle.
Quinth, the twins and I ventured off for dinner at a McDonalds a ways away, then when we returned to the convention center we split up. Quinth to live at the Gaia panels, the twins to go to the AAA concert and myself to go to the LG panel.
Maan, that panel was ******** awesome and silly and I got pictures of Madsen and Christian then^^ there’s a picture that could be questionable too >:3 yeah, I’m mean. During the Q&A someone asked them ‘what would you do for a Klondike Bar?” but they apparently don’t have them in Sweden, and in the many years they’ve been coming to Otakon and SDCC they’ve never had one so their response was fail [but on Sunday I described it to them, so maybe next year they’ll know what it is XD].
After the LG panel I think I wandered around the convention center on my own. My feet hurt like hell and I was hungry again. I met with the twins and went to California Tortilla and got a quesadilla. We went back to the convention center after that and I don’t remember much after that. I think I wandered over to Gakuen Heaven in the video room, but the squealing over the intended smut got bored fast, so I left and hung out in Alcohol and Anime. That was amusing, but what the guy said made sense.
He was all like crack anime makes total sense when drunk. [hell, the creators had to’ve been wasted when writing it and s**t] but he was like, dirty anime just didn’t work when drunk or while drinking. There’s no specific type of alcohol to go with an anime, but drinking like, Hard Lemonade is a bit better than drinking like… whiskey or vodka because at the end of the night, you don’t have a hangover, but the pleasant buzz of liquor.
We left for my brother’s apartment not too long after that. Quinth and I hung out while the twins slept, and then I eventually went to sleep.
