Kaluke's Boredom
Here's the first chapter, hope you like it!!!!

Chapter 1
Life is meant to be lived, not dreamed. At least, that’s what I always told myself, but there are some things in life that you dream about that you are guaranteed will never happen. For example, dreaming of becoming a rockstar or meeting one when you live millions of miles away from LA, or even becoming a famous star’s girlfriend when you had nothing in common are a few of these radical dreams. That’s what I always told myself back then, but nothing could have prepared me for the summer I was about to have.

My parents took the entire summer vacation off which meant we we’re going to go on a huge two month long trip. Knowing my parents, it would probably be some place away from the sun. Evade: Cuba, Puerto Rico, California, Italy, Hawaii, the Bahamas and all the other fun places in the world. This meant that the only place for us to go was Antarctica. Joy. “Rose! Come down here for a minute!” Mother calls. My name is Rose Parker, I’m 15 years old and I live in Weymouth Nova Scotia Canada. I have shoulder length dirty blonde hair and green brown eyes. My friends refer to me as being very kind, loyal and extremely random because I always blurt out random things in moments of silence. But, it always makes them laugh, so it’s all good. Weymouth is a small town of about one thousand people, so everybody knows each other and it’s right on the Bay of Fundy which makes it a beautiful place to call home. My parents both work at the local car dealership and are very well known in the community. My dad is the main owner who takes care of everything that happens in the dealership while my mom takes care of all the finances. In other words, we’re a pretty successful family. We live in a medium sized house that’s right on the water. The downstairs living room faces the sea with big ceiling high windows. Both my mom and dad are sitting on the couch which usually means a very long talk about something that’s pointless.

“What is it Mother?”

“We need to talk about our vacation. You know your dad doesn’t enjoy the sun, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t go anywhere fun!” Mom or Denise Parker; she’s the kind of person that tries to make everything seem exciting and fun, even if it’s just going to the grocery store. She has short light brown hair and always wears funky square shaped glasses. A typical mom, except more energetic.

“Well, what do you suggest then Dad? Where do you want to go?”

My dad didn’t even lift his head from his book when he responded: “I’m not going. I have to take care of the dealership, but you and your mom go and have fun somewhere. I’ll be fine here.” Dad or Rob Parker; he’s the quiet reserved one of our family. He usually keeps to himself and loves to read. The two things that he couldn’t live without are books and gardens. If he’s not reading, he’s gardening in our luscious water front backyard. When he’s not gardening, he’s reading an intense five hundred page book
.
His response surprised me. My dad loved to travel, but he didn’t trust anybody handling the dealership while he was gone. Last time he did that, the dealership almost caught on fire, literally. “Then, does that mean that it’s only me and my mom?”

“Yes honey, it does. What would be your dream vacation spot?” Mom said.

“Los Angeles, California!” I screamed with joy.

“To Los Angeles we go!” With that, Mom dashed off to the computer to book plane tickets and a hotel. I was so happy! I’d always wanted to go to LA, and now I’m going for real! It happened so quick, I didn’t know what to do next. I booked it up stairs to start packing my bag. I found all my nice clothes and put it in a duffel bag. I also packed my piano music, in case inspiration hit me. I write piano music when I have time or I just want to let some anger out. My instinct is to write about it in instrumental form. I also packed my sketch book. Before I put it into my bag, I flipped through it. It had drawings of random people that I didn’t know and of famous movie stars. My master piece was an elaborate drawing I did of the boy band The 3rd Degree. The band includes James, the lead singer and the hot one. Kyle, the bass player, guitar player and singer, he’s the cute one that I have a crush on. And Luke, the crazy guitar player, he’s the sweet and kind one. Every girl in the United States and Canada is obsessed with them, mostly for their looks. I do admit that they are attractive, but I like them because of their music. It has an awesome beat and the lyrics are well chosen too. I looked at the drawing again. It was of the boys doing a concert in New York City, it captured the emotion and intensity of the scene almost like a picture. I smiled, and packed the sketchbook into my bag

A few days later, we rented a car at the Los Angeles airport and went to our hotel. The hotel wasn’t exactly the fanciest one around, but it was comfortable…until I stepped on a snake in our hotel room. “Mom, how many stars did this hotel have again?” I asked disgusted.

“Three stars, but it was the only one we could afford for two months. We’ll just go to a hardware store and get some ‘Critter-B-Gone’. I’ll go get some, why don’t you go for a walk. Just bring your cell phone with you.” That being said, I grabbed my cell phone and ran out the door.
