Fallen Saviors

Saraphina Turin sighed as she walked through the city, crowded with people and with the normal rush of cars going by. She had never felt as if she belonged in the present day or the modern world. Saraphina looked around her at the people going about their business always in a rush. She wished that the society could just slow down, just take a break from the normal hustle and bustle and enjoy the beauty that was the world. Sometimes Saraphina just wanted to spread a pair of wings and fly away.
Saraphina pushed a strand of her long brown hair behind her ear. She looked at her sister, Salina, and sighed again. Salina belonged here she was happy with the normalcy of the world. Saraphina just hoped that she would one day find where she belonged; or she would find something that made her feel as if she belonged. “Hey Sal,” she whispered, “I’m gonna go home. You’ll be fine right?”
Salina nodded and smiled, “Of course.”
Saraphina smiled and turned in the other direction; she pulled her coat around her as it was chilly in the autumn weather. She let a small smile play on her lips she loved autumn it was the only season when the world looked like she felt, stuck in the middle colors fading. Autumn was the season of change, Saraphina felt as if she was stuck in the middle of a change, a change in character that she couldn’t escape.
She looked at the fallen leaves that littered the sidewalk. Saraphina loved looking at the multicolored leaves of the fall time to her the beauty of the spring was nothing compared to the majestic appearance of autumn. Saraphina was so wrapped in her own little world that she didn’t notice the guy walking towards her and she ran right into him. “Oh I’m sorry,” she whispered.
“Its okay,” said a deep voice, “Are you okay?”
Saraphina looked up, “Yeah,” she said, “It was my fault anyway I was lost in my own world.”
He chuckled, “I’m Justin by the way.”
“Saraphina but please call me Sara I hate that name”
“Why? It’s a pretty name.”
Saraphina blushed, “Thank you, she whispered, “but I always got teased for my name at school, even once I started high school”
Justin looked at her, “Don’t let that get you down, it really is a beautiful name.”
Saraphina looked at him, “I don’t mean to sound rude, but why are you being so nice to me? You don’t know me.”
Justin shrugged, “Don’t know just seemed like the right thing to do. You seemed like you could use cheering up.”
Saraphina smiled brightly, “Thanks. Your right I could. Well I got to get going, hope to see you around Justin.”
Justin smiled, “Bye Saraphina.” Saraphina smiled and continued walking for some reason something about Justin cheered her up and made her feel like she might actually belong for once.

Saraphina quickly walked home and when she got there she went straight to her room hoping to avoid her mother and her three year old brother. Once in the room she shared with Salina, she sighed glad to be back in her place of comfort. As Saraphina looked at the dark purple walls of her room she smiled, she might have just found who she’d been looking for, even if she hadn’t really known it. That’s when she realized something had change about her looking down, Saraphina realized that she may not have been just your typical normal human because she had just transformed. From her back she also realized sprouted a pair of midnight black wings. Her once brown hair was now only the purest black. Her clothes had changed she was now wearing an ornate halter top dress that reached the floor in the back and in the front was layered up to her knee. Her nails had grown and had bright red nail polish on them and on her feet she had sparkling red spike heels. Turning to look in the mirror she saw that her entire appearance was changed and her once clear grey eyes were now the impossible color of red, an almost blood red. Saraphina gasped at what she was. Why did she look the very reincarnation of evil itself?
“Kurina,” a booming voice said to her. Saraphina looked around for the source of the voice, but could find none. “You won’t see me Kurina but know I am always here.”
“Who are you, and who’s Kurina?” she asked even though she knew that Kurina was her.
“You are Kurina; you are a fallen angel. Who I am is unimportant besides you’ll know who I am soon enough, my child.”
“Am I evil?” Kurina asked, confused.
“No never think you’re evil because of your appearance you are the angel of darkness, and you fight for the good because light wouldn’t exist without the dark.”
Saraphina nodded, “I understand. Are there others like me?”
“There are three others you will meet them soon enough, Now sleep my child you will have many challenging months ahead of you.” With that Kurina fell to her bed, in the first dreamless sleep she had had in years.
