Quote: Gaia Name: Latigid Character Name: Sophia von Hildemar Gender: Female Age: 22 Character Description: Height: 1.66m Weight: 54kg Hair Colour: Blond Hair Style: Pony Tail Eye Colour: Blue Skin Colour: White Clothes Worn: When not in her leather flyer's uniform, which she usually wears even when not flying, she prefers to wear simple dresses.
Relations: Father, mother, two younger sisters, and an older (deceased) brother Character History: Sophia was born in a rich noble family, and lived a happy and careless life until a few years ago. When Sophia was 17 years old, her brother Maximilian became a professional flyer in the service of a small company. Her parents were outraged that their son chose a profession that was not only dangerous, but (in their eyes) more importantly, was below the station of a true noble, in stead of becoming an apprentice in the family business. Even though Sopia did everything she could to make her parents accept the choices of her beloved brother, Maximilian was disowned and cast out of the family. When little more than a year later the tragic news of his death (he had been cought in a storm and had crashed) arrived at the house, Sopia's parents refused to even attend his funeral. Disgusted by the fact that her parents seemed to care more about their noble status than their own son, she ran away from home in order to follow in her brother's footsteps and become a flyer. When she left, she took enough money and jewelry with her to be able to pay for flying lessons, and it didn't take long for her to find a job at a delivery service, transporting all kinds of packages in a small aeroplane. The money she had taken with her is now long gone, but she is determined to make enough money to one day buy her very own aeroplane. Class Alignment: Flyer Occupation: Delivery Flyer
Skills: Apart from flying various kinds of aeroplane, Sophia has very few useful skills. She can shoot, and if given time to aim properly she usually hits what she wants to hit, but she's no crack shot. She's also reasonable good with people. Weapons: A small revolver Vehicles/Other Belongings: Sophie doesn't have her own aeroplane, but uses one owned by the company she works for.
Roleplay Sample: Sophia was excited. She had just recieved a new assignment, and apparently it was an important one. All she had to deliver was one small package, but she had been promised double pay on delivery. She was so curious, all she could think of was to rip it open to see what it was that was worth so much money to be safely delivered. Her honour as a delivery flyer was all that kept her from doing so, but it was enough. Her aeroplane was already prepared for take-off, and was waiting for her on the runway. She hopped into the cockpit of the small flying machine and fiddled with the controls. It was an old model, one that had been in use for quite a while, but it had never failed her so far. She just knew it would do just fine this time as well. Moments later she recieved the sign. Permission for take-off. Routinely, she brought the machine in motion until it had gathered enough speed to lift itself off the ground. Sopia loved it. She fully understood why her brother had chosen to leave the safety and comfort of their previous life. Every time she got up into the sky was a new adventure to her, and compared to this her life as a noble doughter seemed endlessly boring.

Entry #06 - RP profiles: You Call This Living |

Number three is for the RP You Call This Living. C&C are loved as always.
Quote: Gaian Name: Latigid Character Name: Kira Michaels Nickname: none Age: 24 Gender: Female Sexual Orientation: unknown Position: Delta employee Appearence: Kira is of average height, but has a thin body and long, slender limbs. She isn't what one would call elegant, but she has a kind of natural endearing charm. Her childlike face, framed by her shoulder-length dark brown hair and graced by what seems an everlasting smile and two big sky-blue eyes, might be the main source of that charm. To the naked eye, her skin -slightly tanned and very smooth- is in no way distinguishable from natural skin. She usually wears simple, practical clothes, and prefers bright colours like light blue and yellow. Biography: Kira's family had survived the war in one of the many -but far, far too few- underground shelters. She was born and raised in that shelter, and had never even seen the sun until the age of 16. It was at that age that the shelter's food supply, which had once seemed near infinite, was starting to run out. Now forced out of the safety of the shelter and into the radioactive surface world, the survivors started a small farming community with the help of the tools and seeds they had taken with them into the shelter. Unadapted as they were to the radioactivity that now blanketed the earth, many did not survive. Kira herself would have died before her nineteenth birthday, her body destroyed by radiation sickness, if she had not been saved by Delta. Delta had discovered their village, and promised protection and medical aid if the people from the shelter joined their organization. Unable to survive on their own, the survivers happily accepted the rule of Delta. Kira was taken to a hospital, but it had seemed too late. Her body was already too heavily damaged by the radiation. With no other options left, the doctors replaced much of Kira's body with cybernetic prostetics. When she finally awakened, Kira owed her life to Delta. Without hesitating, she volunteered to work for Delta to find and convince other communities to join the orginization. Even though she did not always agree with Delta's methods, she was convinced that a group like Delta was just what the world needed now. Not only to unify and aid the survivors of the last war, but also to prevent such a thing from ever happening again. Personality: Kira has put the suffering of the past behind her, and looks forward to a bright future. A future where everyone can be at peace, protected and ruled by the Delta organization. She is happy and cheerful even in the face of adversity, and is completely loyal to Delta. She dislikes violence and values freedom highly, and while she often disagrees with Delta's methods, she believes that the use of violence and the restriction of freedom are sometimes the only ways to make people listen, and to force them into being a valuable member of society. Kira likes to talk, won't hide her thoughts and opinions, and if very honest. She is usually open to everyone else's ideas and visions as well, but once she has made up her mind about something she can become very stubborn and relentless. She likes company, be it good friends or complete strangers, and enjoys travelling to meet new people and spread the influence of Delta. Strengths: Kira's cybernetic body, while certainly not a model built for combat, is somewhat more damage-resistant than the average human body. She is clever and tends to get along well with most people. She is also has a knack for repairing and using all kinds mechanical and electronic devices. Weaknesses: Kira has no combat skills whatsoever. She has been trianed in the use of small firearms, and usually carries one when she is out on a mission, but probably couldn't hit the side of the barn from the inside with all the doors shut. Believing in the inherent goodness of mankind, she can also be rather naive. Likes: Delta, talking, happy things, small animals, helping people, learning and experiencing new things, travelling. Dislikes: Weapons, violence, ignorance, rebels, loneliness

Entry #05 - RP profiles: Inferus Mundus |
The second one is for the RP Inferus Mundus. Comments and critisism are still loved.
Quote: Username: Latigid Name: Serrath Grothos Sex: None, but looks masculine Race: Demon Weapon of Choice: Serrath does not have a real preference when it comes to weapons. Like most demons he enjoys melee weapons, the heavier the better, but in a fight he'll use anything he can get his hands on. If he can't get his hands on something, just his hands will do fine as well. He does however have a weapon he calls his own: The Maledictor. A huge sword, crude and serrated around the edges, the massive weapon is obviously designed to deliver blows that leave his opponents either dead or at least incapable of retaliating. It's great weight and size make it unfit for prolongued combat, even for a demon like Serrath. He does not usually carry this weapon with him, preferring to burden an assistant with that task. Occupation: Ambassador of Hell Powers: Serrath has wings, but because of his massive bulk he can't really fly. Instead, he uses his wings whenever he needs a little extra momentum when running or jumping, or to assure a somewhat gentle -though the word 'gentle' should probably not be used when describing Serrath- landing when falling from a great height. He also has a small amount of pyromantic powers, which he tends to use for show just as much as in battle. Skills: 'Skilled' is just another of many words that should not be used when describing Serrath. Perhaps stuffing things in his mouth counts as a skill, as he is quite proficient at that. He can fight, of course, and in fact even enjoys it (but only when he is winning), but not many other demons would consider him a good fighter. He is quite strong, though. He is also a lot smarter than he appears, but a lot less smart than he believes himself to be. Appearance: There are many things to say about Serrath, but the easiest way to describe his appearance would be 'massive'. About four foor taller than the average human being, and as fat as he is tall, Serrath is certainly an intimidating sight. His dark red skin, and the two pitch-black horns protruding from the sides of his head only reinforce the idea that Serrath is not a very nice person. The two wings attached to his back seem to be there only for decorative purposes, because it seems highly unlikely that the leathery appendages are capable of lifting Serrath off the ground. Personality: Serrath is... well, he's a demon. He likes the things all demons like. Torturing, fighting, causing chaos and suffering, eating the flesh of innocents... the usual. He isn't a very heroic demon though, preferring to pick on people weaker than him. Luckily for him, there are a lot of people who are weaker than him on Eavain. Even though his job as an ambassador enables him to meet a lot of those weaker people, it does not allows him to eath them, and therefore he hates his job. Diplomacy is one of the many skills Serrath does not posess, and it is clear to all but himself that the only reason he is being sent to Inferus Mundus is that his superiors are expecting him to mess up and cause a lot of chaos and suffering, whether by accident or by choice. He is almost never in a good mood, seemingly rotating between boredom, crankiness, rage, and self-pity. Personal History: Serrath's history can easily be described as a succession of small failures, small successes, and huge failures. It is not known who or what it was that Serrath finally managed to piss off, but it must have been someone with a bit of influence, because a demon does not end up as an ambassador by choice. Now forced to handle the boring and inferior tast of talking to other races, and occasionally the slightly less boring but no less inferior job of spying and stealing, Serrath's position is not one that other demons would envy. Perhaps the only demon in a worse position is his assistant...

Entry #04 - RP profiles: Antropia |
I've decided I will put up the profiles for my Gaian roleplaying characters here. The first one is for the RP Anthropia. Comments and critisism are of course loved. Self-improvement is always one of my goals (though often not my main goal, I must admit), and good critisism is the best way to improve I think.
Quote: Gaia Username: Latigid Character Name: Leyenne 'Berserker' Natour Race: Wood Elf Gender: Female Age: 29 Occupation: Wanderer, rogue, fighter-for-hire, and whatever is required and available at the moment (aka none) Picture: http://exhibition.dragonsworn.com/kroese/4.jpg (Not made by me, found with Google.) Appearance: Leyenne posesses the same kind of rough beauty the rest her kin have. Her skin is unusually light, contrasting with her dark brown hair, which reaches down just beyond her shoulderblades, and -while looking a bit ill-kept- has a healthy shine. Her green eyes are piercing and cold. She is of average Elven hight and build, though she is a bit more muscular than most Elves. The clothes she wears -light, simple, and comfortable- are made of cloth and leather, and providing a minimal amount of protection, so they do not hinder her movement. Her most prized posession are her boots and gloves, made of high quality leather, which are soft and supple as well as strong and sturdy. She also wears a simple traveler's cloak, which provides some protection against the elements while on the road. The entire color scheme of her wardrobe is made up of simple whites and browns. Her axes are loosely attached to her belt, on on each side. they are tied in such a way that she won't have to worry about losing them, while still easily and quickly accessible when needed. Two throwing knives are hidden in the sides of each boot. Weapons: Two small handaxes, as well as several throwing daggers. History: Born and raised in the Yhredril Forest, Leyenne had always been a bit different from most other Wood Elves. While skilled at stealth and ranged combat like all of her kin, she never really cared for such things. Even the melee fighing styles of the Wood Elves couldn't interest her for long. Perhaps she simply didn't have the patience for the elegant-yet-effective moves of the Elves, but she just preferred a more forceful and violent way of fighting. Her preference for wild melee combat and straight up one on one fights quickly earned her the nickname 'Berserker', a mocking reference to the Dwarven warriors. While some may have considered this a compliment, one might imagine that an Elf would not appreciate being called a Dwarf. To avoid the comments of her peers, she started to be more and more of a loner. She had convinced herself that her way was better than the traditional Wood Elf ways, and continued to train on her own. Lacking good instructions or reference, she slowly developed her own fighting style, combining her natural agility with what felt 'right'. She had no desire to prove herself to the rest, because she knew she was right. As time went by, Leyenne grew stronger and more confident. At a certain point, she knew she wouldn't be able to advance on her own. Now, she would need real experience to improve. She wasn't about to join any Wood Elven military group, or any group at all for that matter. She would keep her style to herself. Confident that something would come along eventually, and equally confident that -whatever that something was- she would be able to handle it, she secretly started preparing to leave the place where she was born. One evening, taking only a minimum of necessities with her, and leaving behind only a short letter to her parents, she simply left. Her destination: Anthropia. Now, years later, Leyenne has found out the hard way that things don't always turn out the way you want them to. Practically ignorant of the world outside Yhredril Forest, she had barely managed to survive at first. Out of necessity she had done all kinds of jobs for a little bit of money. Often she had to resort to stealing in order to feed herself. Her experiences have made her stronger and tougher, and gave her a more realistic outlook on life. She still hasn't given up on her original goal, however. Personality: A natural Wood Elven trait, only enhanced by her experiences, Leyenne is cold and distant to most people she meets. She doesn't easily trust people, believing everyone is out to get something, and there isn't really such a thing as charity. Perhaps this is because she isn't the most selfless person herself. She can actually be quite selfish sometimes. She usually feels superior to everyone else in one way or another, and isn't afraid to let others know this. In reality, her feelings of superiority are more of a defense mechanism she developed when she was younger. At the root of it all is a strong " I'm not wrong, they are!"-feeling. This insecurity might be her weakest spot, and could be used to open her up more, or as a weapon against her. Leyenne fiercely hangs on to her own set of beliefs and morals. She is very stubborn, and rarely ever allows anyone to change her mind on anything, even if she realises she may be wrong. She dislikes lying, and rarely ever does it herself, but she doesn't believe 'hiding the truth' is the same as 'lying'. In contrast to her relation with other sentient humanoid races is her relation with animals. The many days she has spent alone in the forest have thought her a lot about animals. Saying she has a telepathic bond with them would be an exaggeration, but she somehow has a strong sense of empathy when it concerns animals. That doesn't mean she loves animals. She simply respects their primitive thought patterns and instinctive reasoning more than those of most humanoids. Likes: Solitude, silence, fighting, training, strength, independence, people who respect her, animals, good food and drinks, quiet music. Dislikes: Weakness, cowardice, confinement, emotionality, people who get 'too close', loud noise, strong alcoholic drinks, lying. Skills: Leyenne's main skill is fighting with her axes. She is also fairly skilled at throwing her knives around, but only uses them as a last resort. She has some minor skill at being stealthy and knows how to use a bow. She is fairly adept at stealing things, but tends to rely more on distractionand opportunity than real skill for that. She can climb and swim very well. Starting Spot: Anthropia

Entry #03 - Barton Roleplaying |
As I have mentioned before, I enjoy roleplaying on Gaia. I've recently joined several different RP threads and guilds after making my own "Looking for an RP"-thread in Barton OOC (which I have already mentioned in Entry #01). I've been on Gaia for quite a while, longer even than the join date in my profile suggests, and something I see recurring time and time again is the complaining about the lack of literacy in Gaian RPs. I myself have occasionally expressed my discontent with the many 'noobish' roleplays in Barton Town.
However, I now think that there is no reason at all to complain about the quality of Gaian RPing. Sure, there are a lot more RPs for casual RPers who either can't or don't want to write at a 'literate' or 'advanced' level (I won't even mention how little sense these 'skill levels' make), but there are still a lot of good, high quality RPs as well. The fact that they tend to get buried under the waves of low-level RPs means that you will have to search for them a bit more, but they are certainly there. The guilds have certainly taken away a good number of skilled RPers from Barton, but many people like me still prefer good old Barton over the GGN. If you're looking for a good RP to join, just search through Barton OOC, or make your own thread there.
Looking through Barton and Barton OOC, I often notice two problems. The first problem is that it seems like there are a lot more female RPers than male ones. While that may not sound like a huge problem, it is simply more fun if there are different genders in an RP. An all-girl RP can be just as fun as a mixed RP, but mixed RPs allow for a lot more variety and plot possibilities.
The second problem -and also the biggest one- is that most RPs seem to last a relatively short time. I have never been able to properly finish an RP on Gaia. Usually it was because everyone just stopped posting. I've seen RPs with five or more players reduced to two players within a week, often without any form of explanation from the disappearing members. I understand that sometimes you just aren't able to go on posting. There can be all kinds of reasons for that. However, I often see people disappearing from one RP, and then happily go on posting in another. People just don't seem to understand that most RPs just take a long time to finish, and that on joining the RP you are expected to stick with it until the end. If the RP was a low-quality, 2 sentence per post, plotless thing, I imagine it would be easy just to start another one. But if the RP was of high quality, with all members putting a lot of effort in their posts, and with a rich and detailled storyline, you will really screw it up for those that are willing to make a commitment if you just get up and leave. If a great RP goes inactive just because it doesn't have enough members anymore, that's just a terrible waste.

Today I've been wandering through the Gaia Towns game a bit. It's very cute, but it's too bad there's not much to do. There are basically two people in Towns I think. First there are people who catch bugs/flowers/trash. They are usually too busy running after the items to even talk to you, so for them the whole "MMO" part of the game is kind of lost. They don't interact with others, and since the items show up per individual user there's not even the competitive element of running after the same item with multiple people. The might as well play a single-player game. The only reason I see for collecting the game items would be that we may eventually be able to use them for something, because it's not like it's an incredibly fun thing to do.
The second group of people would be those like me. People who get on Towns just to run around a bit and talk to the other townies. This way, Towns becomes just a sort of chatbox. It's quite fun, and the avatars and emotes just make it all a bit more special than a normal text chat.
I've also encountered several weird bugs in Towns. I've put them in this thread.

I've finally done it. I've made myself a journal. I guess this first entry would be best used to introduce me and this journal.
The name of this account, and the avatar that comes with it, is Latigid. Like Latigid, I am a female. At this moment, I am 19 years old. I live in the Netherlands. My hobbies include reading, writing, swimming, playing videogames, and listening to music. My favourite things on Gaia are roleplaying and the avatar system.
I have no real plans for this journal yet, but I will just post what I feel like posting, and perhaps somewhere along the line a sort of theme will pop up.
Feel free to check out my RP status thread, where I keep all information concerning my roleplaying on Gaia.
