~Gene Orphanage (Chapter-1)~by V.D. Briar
User Image "Get up girl," the man said, spreading his trenchcoat, "I'll shade you from this rain."
The girl scoffed, "What do you take me for? Only an idiot would go with someone as strange as you.!"
"Watch your mouth!" he scolded, "You've no idea who you're talking to!"

The girl stayed silent in thought.

"You still there?" the man asked furrowing his eyebrows.
The girl thought, He's blind...if I walk away quietly, there might be a chance that I can get away.

And so, as quietly as she could, the girl stood up and started to walk slowly away from the blind man who still faced the spot where she once lay.

"Young lady?" he asked and when there was once again no answer, he clicked his tongue.
His eyes widened, She's not there!

He cursed silently to himself and started to click his tongue in different places.
The rain was making everything fuzzy, but soon he figured out its pattern and was able to distinguish other items.
He cursed again, clicking his tongue furiously.
He could not find her!
A lampost, mail box, parked car, and the railings of the bridge themselves were the only things he could make out.
The girl smiled to herself as she kept on walking and looking back at the blind old loon who clicked his tongue in frantic frustration.
Click!
The man paused, facing the direction where the girl was walking away.
He had found her.

"You dare to run away?" he called out with a grin, "That's not very smart girly."

The girl froze in shock.

Just keep walking, she ordered herself and her feet started moving quietly away again.
The man clicked his tongue again, "Your still moving? Well, you've got guts." and he started for her.

The girl kept walking while frantically debated with herself as the man came closer.

Run!
No don't! Just stay calm.
He's coming! Run for it while you have the chance!
No! It'll be easier for him to catch you if you did!
He's getting close now! Run! You'll never make it!
Stay calm. Don't panic. Don't think about it. Just keep on walking.
RUN!!!

And so, the girl did what any other animal would've instictivley done for survival.
She ran.

"H-hey!" the man exclaimed and started clicking his tongue frantically again, "Come back here."

He couldn't lose another one. If he did, he'd be suspended from hunting for another three months this time!
Good thing that the plopping of the girl's feet made it easier for him to tell where she was. And so he ran after her cutting off his sentences with every click of his tongue.

"Come back!" he called, "Stop! Please -click- I'm not going to -click- hurt you! I want -click- to help you! Really kid -click- if you just stop for a -click- second, I'll tell you about it! Click!"

The girl didn't miss a step. Unconvinced, she continued to run as fast and far as her feet could take her, and so did the man.

I guess I don't have a choice, the man thought as he reached into his pocket for a gun-looking object, She doesn't look like she's gonna stop anytime soon. I'm getting pretty winded here too.
He pointed the gun at what he hoped was the girl's leg, Now I don't normally like doing this since the side effects are risky, and some people get allergic reactions to the chemicals, but this is the best chance at succeeding right now.

He needed to take this one.

Fwoosh! The dart went as he pulled the trigger.
I certainly hope that was her leg, he thought to himself.
"Ow!" the girl exclaimed in pain as she felt something sharp pierce her left calf.

She was still running, but gradually she got slower as the tranquilizer took effect. Finally, with an even heavier splash than before, she fell to the ground unconcious. Helpless. In the situation she tries so hard to avoid and the same one the man tried so hard to achieve.
The blind man had won.
The girl had lost.
And so, he heaved up her cold and damp body with a big grunt, slung her over his shoulder, and started walking to his next destination. The Gene Orphanage.

"Hup! Up you go girly," he said "Wow! Whoo! You're a lot heavier than you look!"

And the strange blind man walked in the rain with no umbrella and an unconcious girl slung over his shoulder, humming a merry little tune.
Shameless.
