Okay so this is only my FOURTH entry, and I still don't have time to write it decently! I'm only doing these few sentances for the gold! How pathetic is that?

Contraversial Journal...This is pretty deep, for a blog... |

I just spent the last several HOURS in a chat room created just to slam gays...
That is NOT right, no matter who you are, and no matter what your opinion may be. I know everyone is entitled to think whatever they want, but doing things, and saying the things that were said in that thread, are completely destructive to our society as a whole. It generates, collects, and increases the hate in this world towards a specified group--not necisarily gay people, any group--and causes violence and riots towards those specified people. Another thing is that nearly everything said in that thread was generalized garbage and mindless bashing. How is that in any way helpful or productive? I don't get it...
But I was in there, emphasizing this, and something came up. Also very contraversial. And of course, there were many sides to this issue.
One was this: Is it a choice to be gay or straight? Some said it wasn't right to hate someone for the lifestyle they choose, others said it wasn't right to hate someone for something they were born with. Ironically, these two statements caused a HUGE debate that lasted many many pages. It was EXTREMELY difficult to keep up with it. People were saying that it was a choice, or a result of upbringing, and that it is disgusting to choose such a thing, which is nonsense in and of itself.
Now, I will briefly state my arguments to this topic (the things I said in the thread were EXTREMELY lengthy... sweatdrop ) But yes, people can chose whether they want to be with a guy or a girl... sometimes. Yes, sexual preference is most often affected by upbringing, and the atmosphere in which you spend your teen years, but it can also be something you are born with... I won't go into that here, since there's no space, but if you're interested, I can give you a link to a site that has a lot of that information... once I finish it... it's a report I did a couple years ago, and I've been fixing it over the last few weeks to put up on my site... that kind of thing has been coming up a lot lately, and I wanted to share my knowlege with others... so I'll try to finish it soon!
Second order of business: There were a ton of people in there just repeating their ideas over and over again, completely ignoring others just so they could press their beliefs on everyone else. Now you can believe what you want, obviously, and Freedom of Speech allows you to state whatever it is you believe in, but you should consider listening, too. Otherwise you're just as bad as everyone else in this world, and that's not good. Debates are good, but you can't be the only one talking in a debate; debates are two sided. And it doesn't matter if either person in this said debate changes the way they think, it just helps each side to understand the other, because a world of ignorance is a sad one... If you put yourself in someone else's shoes for just a minute, we can overcome our differences, even if we don't actually agree...
I think that's all for now... I need to take a break... I may continue tomorrow, if i have time, but I only had ten minutes for the journal today, after all that time in the forum... again, I'll try to type some stuff tomorrow... heart TaTaForNow!!
