I awoke to a world that was not mine, though it still rained
Many things of this world were the same
Amidst a few fundamental differences
People needed to drink their coffees, but with smiles
Men kissed their wives and did not run off to another's embrace
Children could breathe the air of the wild
And no one seemed to be missing, even while in a crowd
I walked the streets of this world to behold all its wonder
The gestures, the spirits, and hearts of its inhabitants fascinated me
This ether was the opposite of scratches, glares, and deliberate spit
That all my other life had been known to me
I was light as a feather and danced upon rose petals
My senses were amplified to every experience touched
Though it still rained, I understood
That this was attainable
Because I wanted it so much
My only comfort as I left that world
Was that euphoric feeling, as a taste on my lips
For I opened my eyes again to reveal...
That it had all been a dream
