There and Back Again: A Gaian's Holiday
Just random thoughts and observations of my Gaia expereinces
I saw Hairspray this afternoon and thought it was awesome! The music was fun and lively and had people clapping along to the beat.

John Travolta as Edna Turnblad was freakin awesome! He did a great job as the mom of the man character; even though he was in a suit that made him look extremely overweight, he had some great dance scenes that were very fun to watch.

What struck me the most, though, is that the film took place in 1960s America and showed how African Americans were still heavily discriminated against. And I realized that we are not that much more advanced from those days.

Yes, laws no longer exist that force blacks to use separate facilities, restaurants, etc from whites, but are we really more enlightened?

Seeing the constant minority-bashing here on this site alone, it is very evident to me that people as a whole have stubbornly held on to their prejudices and feeling of superiority.

And that's too bad because I think it limits us as a people and as a society.
