Rain
falls in
puddles on the
ground, drizzling
down upon your head.
It hides your tears as it washes
away your regrets, shame,
and memories. It sooths your soul,
rhythmic beats on your face. You lie
down in the empty street, hearing the far
off cars. Suddenly thunder rings in your
ears, as lightning lights up the sky.
You glance around wishing there was more
than what appears. Is there really heaven, or
is it a lie to keep you under control?
Acting how you’re supposed to be? You
scream inside as one more flash
lights the sky, the rain covering
