~Tatsu~
This ferret like breed is generally reserved and shy, but when rattled can get a bit well... angery. The firey main that runs along its back is a representation of the large volcano where the Tatsu call home. Hidden in the mists of the heat plauged mountain's base, the little critters hide and live in burrows and small caves to try and excape the intense weather. Once a year many, if not all, of the Tatsu migrate down to the water's edge to go swimming and play together for two to four days. This is often the best time to try and get your hands/hooves on the elusive Tatsu. If you are lucky and brave enough to find one, you'll find that a Tatsu is a loving and loyal friend.
~Gimili~
Mostly found in the rocky cliffs on the far side of the island, the Gimili are proud and somewhat vain. The horns that occupy the sides of their heads have been developed expecailly to fend off the unknown dangers that wander into their homes from the jungle and the canyon. The spirels of horn are also used to defend their territory from other Gimili that threaten to take over. Males being the domonent gender in the Gimili, you will most likely find more females than
~Pantera~
These panther off shoots are one of the more common species of familiars, because they can be found making their home in the dense forrests that surround the island. Even though many have seen them in the middle of the forests, the Pantera prefer to make their nests near and around the edges of the tree line. Sharing the forest with the Rintah, the cats tend to give the slow moving animals a hard time, for Panteras need someone or something to wrestle and tumble with. Modest and humble, Pantera's make a perfect frined who loves to play.
~Saber~
Being a long lost cusion to the Sabertooth tiger, Sabers are naturally found in and around the snowy moutains. Being undesturbed for many a generation, the Sabers have formed a clan system and have developed to the point of being able to understand almost any language that is thrown their way. Being undoubtably the most intellegant of the different speceis of familiars, they are now some of the most sought after. Unfortuanly the Sabers only agree to go with those who they deem worthy, causing them to become one of the rarest of the familiars. But if you are lucky to get one of these Brave and curagous cats, you'll find they are more reserved and patient than their actions in the wild might have suggested.
~Fauna~
The Fauna are closely related to the foxes of the human world, and tend to be solitary creatures outside of their tight knit family packs. Being shy they tend to make their homes around the lake and the canyon, both of which are complete opposites. The shyist of the Fauna make their dens near the lake where they can watch the unicorns and their familiars play, while the more agressive of the Fauna take to the small caves in the upper regions of the canyon for they are still afraid of what lurks in its depths. If you somehow happen to charm the Fauna out of hiding, the fox like familiars are known to tend to take a liking to pretty music and candy, then you'll eventually have your hands full of a loving ball of fluff.
~Rintah~
Rintah can befound everywhere, they are the Ratatata of JoV if you will. Being the most common and the slowest moving, the possum like critters are the best choice in a familiar for the hyper that need to be calmed and the drowzy. From the meadows, to the forests, to the beaches, the Rintah make their home where ever tree's can be found. Even though the Rintah are slow in movement, these familiars are extreamly strong, I mean you really dont want to be in a vice grip with these things. The only time that strength is not their only defense is the day before, the day of and the day after the full moon, this is when they get an incredible urge to move as quickly as possible. And when this happens the Rintah can even out run the Pantera and the Sabers.
