It's a nice sunny day bathing the streets of Durem as you walk down and look at the shop windows you pass. Suddenly, your eyes catch a large shop sign saying "Magical Mishaps" and you notice there are smaller words below them, still too far to be read.

As you get closer, you can read "Shop and Adoption Center" and curious you glance at window to see what type of shop it is.

The background is blocked by a large, purple curtain, not allowing you to view the inside. But from the items placed in front of it you can easily tell it's a potion shop. Idly, you wonder how a shop that sells magical supplies could also be an adoption center.

Just to satisfy your curiosity you decide to go in and have a look around. The first thin you notice are the great quantity of potions, herbs, and other magical supplies stuffed onto rows and rows of shelves.

But before you can approach them a light suddenly lights up behind you, making you jump in surprise. A black cat statue sitting peacefully on the counter beside the door had been the cause of it, its large yellow eyes casting a strong glow.

The very next moment you hear a door creaking on the other side of the shop. You turn around and see a young women coming from a door hidden behind a curtain, similar to the one on the shop window. "Oh hello! My name is Maggie, and I am the caretaker of this shop. You must be who the statue is glowing about. I'm very happy to see a potential guardian," she says as she smiles and shakes your hand.

You blink in confusion, but before you could say a word she hurries you to the hidden door and calls someone. A few seconds later another figure appears, but not another person as you expect. The first thing you notice are the abnormally long neck, arms, and legs. And a long tail swished slowly behind it as it walks toward you, enhancing its long appearance.

You step back, uncertain of what this creature is. Maggie smiles, patting the tall being on the back. "This is Jabir, he's the oldest Mishap and my best friend," she quips as she looks at you, expecting a reply. When you don't respond she leans forward, looking concerned. "Do you know what a Mishap is?" she asks. When you shake your head she nods, giggling softly. "Oh, well then I'll explain."

"Did you ever wonder what happens to the creatures created by spells that have gone wrong? Most can easily be reverted but there are a few so complex, so unique that they turn into a permanent living being, the Magical Mishaps as we call them. They're sweet little things, really," she tells you. She hugs Neck (aka, Jabir) gently, patting his wild hair.

"So...the cat's eyes glowed. That means you're a potential guardian," she goes on as her smile widens, green eyes glittering with happiness, "We'd be happy to have you with us!" She leans forward, hugging you gently. Before you could reply, she is gone and Jabir disappears through the back door, leaving you to ponder on the adoption of one of these amazing creatures.

"A little bit of this! And maybe this little leaf here. . .," the young woman mumbled as she was making a potion to create a creature that could be her companion here in this lonely hut that was hidden deep in the Nirath forest. Maggie, taught in the traditional ways of rituals and spells, enchantments, had become strong in her powers. She was alone due to her magic. . . well. . . scaring people and this was where she lived.

Her style was a unique one, with all her clothes made by her own hands. She wore a loose shirt of a jade colour, pants the colour of the bark on an oak tree, and shoes that were made from a special beige leather. Short red hair played at the corners of her face making her appear soft and kind. She's a tall young woman with a slightly athletic build due to walking a lot to find herbs. She wasn't the most. . . "goddess" looking person but she did have an appealing quality that was hidden because of her unkempt appearance most of the time, leaves often finding their way into her hair and clothes.

The creature she sought to make would have some minor intelligence and be able to help with small odds and ends around the house. She had no idea that it would be a complete disaster. Smiling, she looked for her last ingredient. "Ah, here it is. . . Wortroot," she said softly to herself.

Dropping the root into the pot she smiled, now to stir and chant the spell.

"Here I stay day to day
Alone in my little home
So I wish today to say
A companion who might roam
But who I'll love
And watch over
like one does a dove
Maybe named Rover."

Now it was just a day or two to wait as she put the pot in a special container, inside a box back in her closet where she kept all her experiments. She rather hoped that a bright and loyal pup might result that would follow her forever and help her with simple things like locating herbs and such.

After two days of anxious waiting she checked her new creation and was utterly startled, a small gasp of horror at the result escaping from her lips, erasing the smile that had previously been there.

The creature was a bluish, long-necked being that was already half her height even though just born, and Maggie wasn't short. Blank, pastel eyes almost the colour white looked at her, accented by black markings. A small cry came from its lips as it looked up at her forlornly.

"You are not. . .," Maggie stammered, not sure what to do. Her spells very rarely went wrong and she had expected something smaller, a more animal-like creature to be her pet not this . . . whatever it was.

"Food?" The word registered in the young woman's mind though she wasn't sure she heard it till the little creature started crying. Well this wouldn't do, she couldn't just leave him here without anyone to care for him. Maybe he wasn't the perfect pet that she had wanted, but then again, Maggie herself was different from most so what was wrong with loving him? Nothing.

"Come with me. . . Jabir." she said with a comforting smile.

That's how it all began. On and off for the next several years Jabir and Maggie worked to figure out what had gone wrong with the spell, and found out some of the glasses in the closet had accidentally leaked on the box. They also found out Jabir wasn't the only one, as other wizards had made mistakes with their spells and enchantments and somehow created other 'Mishaps', as Maggie called them.

Some of them resembled humans, some small animals. For some reason only the animal ones could be reversed, while the others proved impossible to do so. Realizing that they were all intelligent beings, needing a lot of love and attention, she knew that someone else would take them.

Maggie set up a shop, well . . . more of an Adoption Center.

However, she knew that many would persecute them, so she took measures to make sure only those with loving hearts could really claim one and protect them from being made fun of and picked on for their appearance.

Q: Can I have a Mishap?
A: Sure, if you have the time available to take care of one and the gold to afford it.

Q: I meant if you could give me one?
A: No, out of the question. To get one participate in one of the events.

Q: But you gave _______ one! Why can't I have one too?
A: Because that person is a friend of ours and/or deserved it. We have the right to give them to whomever whenever we want, so don't bother asking. If you do, you're blacklisted.

Q: How many can I own, then?
A: Just one. Otherwise it's very hard to keep up the roleplaying.

Q: Can I sell my Mishap?
A: ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! They're not cattle to be sold out in the fair! If you can't afford to keep your Mishap he/she will put up for adoption, but by us not you.

Q: Do you do pet trades?
A: Yes, but don't expect us to agree to every single one. We have the right to decline it.

Q: I don't have time to RP. Can I still get one?
A: No, sorry. They need "full time" guardians to grow healthy and mentally stable.

Q: Can I co-own?
A: No. You can appoint someone to take care of your Mishap while you're gone or have an "uncle/aunt" helping out, but that's about it.

Q: What about the couple guardians? Aren't they co-owning?
A: Technically yes, but they're under a special rule. Together they can adopt a Mishap, but one of them is appointed as the main guardian, the head of the family. But if one of them will no longer roleplay (divorce), he/she will have to pay a penalty fee of 6k.

Q: Do you accept a male-male/female-female couple has guardians?
A: Yes.

Q: Can I marry and my partner be included in the cert?
A: No. We don't accept couples after the Mishap is been appointed to a guardian.

Q: How long does it take for them to grow?
A: Depends on how much you roleplay and interact with them.

Q: How does the growth really works?
A: A Mishap will grow normally in size and weight as you roleplay, but the features hardly change. When he/she is ready to go to the next stage a quest is given to both of you. Once the quest is fulfiled the Mishap will go through a rapid change and pass on to the next stage

Q: Can they roleplay with other pets besides Mishaps?
A: Sure, but not too many at a time please.

Q: How big are they?
A: Depends a lot on their ingredients, but most are the size of a normal person.

Q: Do Mishaps have magical powers and special abilities?
A: Yes, but they're different to each Mishap. Some are good with magic, but most are skilled in certain things.

Q: Why are the Mishaps so expensive?
A: Because each one of them is unique.

Q: Can I have a non-humanoid Mishap?
A: Sorry but no. This shop only takes care of those (animal mishaps always get reverted), although anthro ones are accepted.

Q: Can I have a Mishap like _______ one?
A: No. Even if you made an identical spell and exactly the same mistake, still the resultant Mishap would be different.

Q: Sorry but I didn't understand...how I'd pay for a Mishap?
A: Simple. In case is an already drawn one, we'll give 24 hours to send and confirm the trade. In case is a semi or full custom one you must send the trade within the time limit, but only confirm it once we tell you it's ready.

Q: Can I get a Mishap for someone else?
A: Yes, but the entry must be written by that person and you have to be sure he/she has enough time to rp the Mishap.

Q: What do I need to do to be added to the mailing list?
A: Just add the mule to your friendlist.

Flatsale:
The flatsales are prompt type, where you must answer a couple of questions, in the most creative way, about the Mishap you choose. It will feature either an already drawn Mishap, or a semi-custom one. Once the winners are announced they must pay 10k within 24 hours, or the Mishap will go to the next best entry

The contest may vary from time to time. Sometime a it will feature an already existing Mishap looking for a new guardian, other times a completely new one. The same happens to the type of contest, which is described in the quote box below. When the entries are filled, we'll chose the most original and creative ones. Once the winners are announced they must pay 15k within 24 hours, or the Mishap will go to the next best entry

- You must include a RP sample in your first bid. Otherwise it won't count
- All RP submissions must be Pmed to the mule account. Including them on the thread or anyplace else will give you disqualification
- In case of a couple each must submit an entry, telling who your partner is. Otherwise they will count as separate entries
- Couple entries must be different. Or you'll be disqualified (this is to evaluate each rp abilities and creativity)
- Avoid spelling and grammar errors. Don't make things harder and force us to ignore your submission
