((Well, Anyara, Gene, and Nihilian, at the temple, were staring at the stars waiting for Mizu, so that time was night and the sun started coming up since the passing of time...And Anyara, are you stopping to rest or are you getting off to walk?))

((*looks around* Alright, he's got the right logic, but my name wrong. My character is Anyara, I'm silentdraconis. No biggie.
Anyway, she's stopping for rest because the besties have been going say... eight hours or so without rest. Give or take some time. And the people have been up, in her case, since dawn the day before, and Nihilian's walking.))

With a firm but gentle pull Ranpu stopped Nightmare, who only protested with a slight grunt but then seemed to like the idea of rest. He got off the horse and stretched his arms, took a deep breath, and stood there waiting for the others.

anyara took his reigns and went to tend the horses in her charge. She left the people to fend for themselves or not as they saw fit; she could herd them when the horses were done, if she had too. She figured they'd get the idea soon enough, he had, afterall.

Once the sun rose, he felt the rays sink into his skin. Thorn, also, was rejuvinated from drinking the rays of the sun. Gene patted the horse, making sure he was still awake. Gene rose his head to look at the horizon, but it was still a ride of nothingness as they traveled to Drathel. Nothing surrounded them, save nature, the wind, peace, and their own thoughts. Everyone seemed so silent, like they were stunned by something they saw just now. "Is everyone still sane?" Gene asked sarcastically.

Nihilian leaped up onto the roof of the cart.
He reclined on the soft incline.
"I'll be asleep right here. Wake me if anything big and scary comes along."

Ranpu examined the sky to determine where the sun was rising. He walked to a tree that was close by and sat on the side where he judged the shade would last longest. He knew he wouldn't need all that time anyway. He rested his back against the tree and closed his eyes. His figure became almost translucent and someone would have to look twice before noticing him there.

Anyara came back--without the horses, she had tethered them at the edge of the clearing, where they could reach grazing, water and shade--a bundle of leafy boughs in her arms. "I call last watch." She replied, and took her bundle under the cart for a mattress. She curled up behind the front left wheel, completely out of sight from anyone coming down the conventional path, but in easy reach of her weaponry and a quick exit.
She fell asleep promptly.
Unlike what most people thought, she slept deeply, but woke easily. It was a strange combination all but beaten into her at a very young age--it was the only way to go about rested in her former Lord's employ.

Gene got off the horse and watched as they were tethered by Anyara. He glared at Nihilian, "Fine, but I doubt that is a consquence for that sarcastic remark. Although, I might accidently wake you up last." Gene walked around them, watching their surroundings. He checked out for any signs of movement or strange shadows. "I hope you guys get a good sleep. I don't know how people will sleep while the sun is out, but its probably better." Gene made sure he had easy access to his sword, just in case something suprising happened.

He grinned as he rested his head on his hands.
"Wake me last if you want. You'll just have to take my shift. No skin off my back."
And with that he rolled over and fell into a deep slumber.

Hours later, the sun was high in the sky. It was peaking noon and the temperature was peaking as well. Anyone with common sense had found whatever shade was around and was sticking to it.
Unfortunately, bandits don't always work with common sense.
This troupe sure didn't.
Especially while it snuck stealthily into the travellers' camp...

Common sense should have told them that any merchant who could have that small of a guard either had nothing worth stealing, or damn good guards.
But they'd already proved they lacked common sense.
Anyara had not be woken for her watch, isnce it had yet to arrive, but she was still not used to sleeping more than four to six hours. And six was a lot to her. So she just stayed where she was, listening to the sounds of birds and bugs fading away. The rustle of cloth and clink of arms...
Her mind schreeched to a halt and backed up--cloth and arms? Who was up and about with weapons?

Sadly, these bandits assumed the caravan to all be asleep.
They were very wrong.
Anyara was awake.
Nihilian was awake.
And even if the other three still slept, those two were more than a match for the six foolhardy bandits.

Gene eye's opened with a shock. He heard the breathing of more than one person, and only one person should have been on watch. He saw the stranger and Mizu was still asleep, but Nihilian and Anyara eye's wide open. He also saw the shadows of a group of people on the edge of their camp. Gene didn't get up so they wouldn't know that he as awake. He made sure that he had easy access to the sword, but he didn't want to use it. "Maybe they didn't want to hurt them," Gene thought to himself, but the way they look, and were standing, expressed something different.
((I assume that Nihilian and Anyara are still in bed but awake, since the bandits assumed all of us to be asleep))

The camp was still.
The bandits let out a cry as one to stir up panic.
Their cry was cut off suddenly as a shadow passed over the sun.
Within seconds that shadow had landed behind the leader of the bandits.
Nihilian grinned as his blade met flesh.
The leader fell.
"See that? Now come get me, b*****d!" Came the cry from Nihilian's lips.
He turned to the rest of the bandits.
