((He's for whatever side brings the god Drathel close enough for him to have a shot at killing him... so *shrug* who knows?))

Emptiness of any kind was unusual in the Earth temple since the Dark Dawn, except the emptiness of the Stone Urn. How original are these people with names? Lazy as rocks... Anyways, on this night there was a whole bunch of emptiness, and it was all because of the one before the Urn with glowing eyes under a dark hood. He was definitely different and that had caused people to become curious about him. That stopped as soon as he killed a priest with a single slash of his slightly rusty sword. Before the man hit the polished stone floor, Nihilian had already picked him up. The hooded man carried the priest in his arms with his sword through the dead man's ribs and set him down before the Stone Urn. He let out a howl of rage and sorrow, gaining a wider radius of emptiness from the few remaining worshippers. Then he unceremoniously lifted the holy flesh and dropped it into the large Urn. The Urn spat a sword out at him and became empty. Nihilian took the long sword. It shone like the moon used to, back when she was alive.
What edge of the blade do you choose...?
The... Hilt...?
Or... the Blade...?
Is this... what you really want...?
Blood...?
And Death?
Or would you choose... life...?

Nihilian slid the blade into its sheath. "I follow my path to the Dawn." His face was as unyeilding as stone as he strode from the Temple.

Outside the temple, curious in the new hazy day, not as bright as before the Dark Dawn, but there was light, like the light that came through the greasy windows of the pooer districts. Like it was coming through smoke-stained glass, Anyara spent her time being useful. She was good at it, and earned enough of a living to make it to the next day, with, soetimes, just a little left over to be put away for some later day.
She worried, to herself, though to the passersby and shop-kkepers and priests she showed nothing but calm reassurance. To those who asked her, she replied with calm certainty that things couldn't be too bad. After all, the darknes had passed, hadn't it? Mostly...
What new things would come today? What shadowed words...
With reflexes born of a cruel master, she jumped aside from a courier as he sped past, foam from his weary mount splashing onto the street. He looked no less tired than his mount, and far more worried than a horse could ever seem.
Bad omens... That's all they read in their diving dishes. That's all the news we find in these messengers... Portents of doom.
She shook her head and held the stirrup for a nobleman. He flipped her a coin as he rode off, his path layed in the wake of the couriers.

The hooded man caught sight of the tattered horse attendant. She looked strangely familiar, but he couldn't lay his sword upon it. He drew his sword next to her neck. "Where would I find another large Temple? Quick! I've spilled better blood for less!" His voice was beautiful and slightly melodic, but over it, there was a bit of the rasp that comes from grief and cries of woe.

It was the dawn of a new day when Mizu walked out of her temple again. She was pale, and to the close eye shaking. Their talk, her and the spirit's had lasted the whole night and it had been confusing and deep.

Mizu collapsed to sit on the steps of the temple entrance. There was so much she had learned in the time of a couple hours. Mizu shook her head with a esasperated sigh and put her head to rest in her hands. Why she have to be so loyal? She asked herself when she stood up again only to find her legs still shaking. She wouldn't make it far like this. She collapsed back down on the steps and stayed there for a while, watching people pass on the street.
PostPosted: Sun May 28, 2006 1:55 pm

Anyara tilted her head slowly over the blade to look at him. Her warm eyes were oddly chill for her. "My blood has been spilled by better before," She replied quietly, and turned to face him, completely ignoring the bar of sharp steel against her skin.
After being bred to threats like that, and to the attempted carrying out of those threats, he would have to do more to scare her into submission. "There are several temples in the area, but none as large as this one, or as fine. Dawn Street, a quarter of the way around town to the east, has a particularly nice Fire temple. The same distance to the west is a good sized Stone temple--it's on Patience Lane--, and across town on Serenity Way is a Water temple of similar grandeur."
Her hand lifted to the flat of the blade and pushed it gently away, the same calm, unruffled look in her gaze, an unhurried chill beneath painfully plain hair, and marks left by a well-placed lash. The scarred hand that dared brush his sword aside was the same steady calm. He'd done just the wrong thing if he wanted to get the warm, friendly Anyara. "But it seems to me, your attitude is more suited to a temple far from here. It's a rather dark place, but you seem like you'd fit right in." She smiled sunnily, mockingly, almost. "So take your sharp shiny, and go away. Those three temples are the only others of any size in this city, and you already know all three deities are worshipped here, at the Temple." Anger smoldered in the cold gaze, flickering in the ice-chips that had solidified behind her irises. "I am not required to put up with this. If you threaten me with violence again, I will be forced to respond in kind, good sir, and then I would have to spend the day cleaning the floor, for I do believe you'd make quite a mess."
Amazing how fast she could develop the talk-back ability, her former master would never have allowed her to be so impudent, and would have proved it by stripping her back of its skin. Again.

Nihilian looked sheepish. "Erm... terribly sorry, miss. I mistook you for someone else." And he had. It had once been a pastime of his to mimic his father in front of his "servants". But no former servant of his father would ever dare respond like this. He strode off, hanging his head. The only disturbance he came across on his way to the closest inn was a pickpocket who soon found himself dead in the street.

She eyed his back as he walked away. "No problem, sir." She called politely after him, completely molified by his response. She went back to work, cleaning up the courtyard. Her broom scritched the stones lightly. She was used to such work, and it went quickly, easily. She used the time to consider that man. Since she'd come to Asthel, no one had treated her like that. No one.
He was probably Drathelian, then.

History:
It was the night of the ball that Gene's life was destroyed. It was when his parents were heading to the ball on their carriage when the night took a dark turn. A couple of soldiers from the dark side took over the carriage and kinapped his parents. Later they were found under a bridge, soaked in blood and filth. After that, Gene wanted to take revenge.

Magic: yes
--Affinity: Gene has a strong connection with earth

Gene walked up to the Stone Temple to consoule the gods, which have not woken up. The memories of that night, when his parents were lying, dead, on the ground soaked in blood, still haunted him as he grew and led on. Every step Gene took on the stairs echoed through his mind. His veins were pulsing, as they were about to burst. He looked out into the night sky, seconds later he saw the rays of the sun hitting the Earth. He felt the Earth revitalizing, as enegry flowed through is veins. He was happy the sun was out because it calmed him down.

As Gene entered the Temple, he felt that someone has already been here. A cold gust blew through the temple, telling him the strangers side was undecided. Gene walked further into the temple, only to see a single blue rose floating on a urn, which was the offering place for Leldren. The rose was dying and wilting away and so Gene covered his hands over the flower and sent a ray of light through it, giving the flower life and scent. After that moment, Gene felt a whisper coming from the rose itself. He took a step back, almost tripping over a misplaced stone.

Many people have taken many paths, Stranger, but what will be yours?
Gene was scared and so he muttered only a few audible words.
It is time for you to choose a side Gene, and quickly. As though the Earth lives on forever, you don't have much time.
Gene knew what the flower meant, but he wasn't sure who was talking to him. He came closer to the flower and whispered, "I choose the side that clearly needs me, the light."
As Gene said those words, the flower was engulfed in light and dissappeared, knowing it was meant only for him.
He heard a faint whisper in the distance, Good-bye wise one

((I know its not very long, and there are a couple of mispelled words, and I apologize))

Gene ran out the temple, trying to keep from tripping over the stairs. "What has happened just there? what was talking to me? Is there going to be ANOTHER war?" he thought to himself. All those thoughts ran through his mind, making him scramble. At the bottom of the steps, he tripped onto the cold, hard stone. Gene sat up and look around, not noticing the mud puddle he fell in. He got up and wiped all the dirt off. He walked into the town, where many people were going on with their lifes. He walked down from sidewalk to sidewalk. Gene bumped into many people while he was walking. He heard the crys of babies, the yelling of kids, the laughing of teenagers, and the fighting of adults. All those sounds filled his mind with confusion and disarray. He kept walking, as though it was only him, and only him, that occupied his surroundings.

Nihilian left the inn quickly, his sword dripping stale ale and blood. "Best ale in town, my arse!" he shouted back at the inn with quite a few strong cursewords.
He passed another man on the street who seemed to be completely oblivious to the world around him. Nihilian decided to leave him to the local thugs. This man wasn't worth his time. So he continued on.
As he bagan to pass the Water Temple, he froze. A female body, collasped upon the steps. Unmoving. At a temple. A sacrifice! His mind screamed. A sacrifice... sacrifice... sacrifice! He was overcome by memories, memories he could never forget. Karma Dawnsong. A sacrifice! He howled into the air and threw off his hood. The red streak in his hair gleamed softly like blood spilled. His eyes flared with brilliance as he shouted defiance to Drathel and lifted the young sacrifice into his arms. He stopped abruptly. The girl was breathing.

((By the way, Nihilian is completely sure of his side. It just isn't a clear-cut one of light or dark. Let's just say he took the grey path.))

Gene finally got hit by reality when he heard curse words coming from a pub a couple feet away. He stood alert for a minte and then went back into his state where he was alone. He can tell a couple eyes landed on him, but he didn't give much attention to the stares by the passing pedestrians. As Gene walked on, the walked onto a grassy plane. He stopped in his place and looked around. "Finally, out of the city and back on mother earth." He smiled to himself and walked on straight. He felt the grass and trees sway back and forth. He felt his feet glide along the ground. For some reason, He and Earth were connected. He noticed this connection at the age of 6.

Gene climbed a tree and layed down on the branch. It was big enough to keep him from falling if he turned to either side. He closed his eyes and he went straight to sleep. Some vines and leaves covered Gene as he swayed from side to side. As he slept, the images of his mother and father appeared from time to time in his dreams. The blood, the tourment, the news that was given to him, the emotions, their gruesome bodies, and the dirt that covered them. These images made him sweet and start shaking.

((lol, tell the wind that. Jk jk. Okay, sorry))

. . . Alright... People seem to be making mistakes... And I'd like to cut it off now before it gets worse. 'Think' posts are here on out reserved for this sort of announcement.
There are three gods in the Asthel. The Phoenix, who commands fire, justice, and the passage of the dead with Aquar, who rules over water and healing and the dead. There is also Leldren, god of stone, who is master of stone (d'ur) and patience, he also rules over the calm fighters in battle, while the Phoenix claims the emotional ones.
Those are the original Deities. The strongest. Then there is Drathel.
Drathel was the founder of Drathel, the nation. The first King. He did a great service for the Gods and was rewarded with his rise to god-hood. He commands moon-less nights, storms, and the despairing. He was also the guide for the dead to the Phoenix and Aquar, though he no longer does this.

Also, Long posts are appreciated. Especially in the begining, when this neat special stuff is going on. So have fun with long posts.

And lastly, the Gods themselves aren't asleep this time. The Guardians are. The Gods have left the mortal realms to mortals, and only interfere when it's clear to everyone that it's required. When one land or the other is close to annihalation, like it was when the Guardians were created. They won't directly do anything, but they have no problem nudging mortals and giving them the power to fight.
As for these mortals who are being granted things... It isn't just one per god. It's anyone who fits the Deity's need. Anyara, for example, cares more for justice than anything else. She wants justice, not revenge, against the people who wronged her. And it's all over Asthel and Drathel. People anywhere from anywhere, can be called by the Deities, just so long as they pray at a temple. It's the only prequisite.

Since someone is more plant and growing thing focused, I should mention that plants are a combination of water and stone. The Gods powers overlap a lot, checks and balances and all. Drathel excused from that, since he isn't original.
(Please pardon any errors I have made, in spelling, grammar, or if I was not clear before when I tried to explain this. If you still have questions, I'll be glad to answer them Via PM.)

[[Wait, did I make a mistake? *looks back*]]

Mizu hadn't even been sleeping. She'd just been meditating on the temple steps to calm herself. When a man yelled and lifted her up immediatly a daggar hilt was rested in the palm of her hand. The person lifting her up looked in pain. Emotional scars... Mizu realized, not noticing any wounds of any sort. The man who was holding her in his arms had a haunted look to him and in his hair a blood red streak falling softly over his eye.

"Sir, put me down." Mizu said as calmly as possible, holding her daggar out. Her voice was smooth, calming. She was able to realease herself from his grip and dropped softly back on the steps. She slipped her daggar back into its sheath in her tall black boot.

Her vibrant blue hair was ruffled now and Mizu took out the ribbon, so as to retie her hair. Pulling her bangs from her face and finger combing her hair her pointed ears were visible, sticking out from under her locks. She dusted off her black dress before turning her gaze back up to the man.

"Now, sir, why did you pick me up?" She asked smoothly. "Do you need someone to show you around the temple?" Mizu seemed perfectly calm and reasonable but her hands shook.
