Welcome! If you're interested in herbs, I know there's a Herbalist guild that has lots of information and knowledgeable people....if you haven't already joined. wink

Hey, thanks. ^_^ I've been thinking of joining that guild and I plan to soon. I just haven't really had a second to do so. When I get the chance to I'll definately join.

My name is Meghan, I'm 15 years old. I joined because I like Herbalism.
I'm a pretty laid-back person, and I like learning new things. I happy I got accepted into this guild! biggrin

Love,
Meg

Oh goodness! I've been on here for awhile but never introduced myself!
I'm Anne...
I'm 19 and attending a university, majoring in Biology: Ecology, Evolution and Behavior. I volunteered as a teacher at my hometown's zoo for 5 1/2 years, then took over the education department temporarily with two of my fellow volunteers (and very best friends) for a summer. I plan to go back and take over the zoo, because the current director is... not the best... he never went to college, just the police academy, and he ended up as director by default as people quit, going from maintenance guy to director of the whole friggin' zoo. Honestly, he can't even spell the names of several of the animals in the zoo.

Anywho, I'm also interested in environmental research, and spent two weeks of last summer helping a research scientist study salmon habitat in Washington state. It was amazing.

I love to crochet, too! I'm currently working on a few things that I plan to sell this summer at my town's open-air market.

As far as movies go, I love Princess Monoke, The Princess Bride, and The Lion King (I & II).

One of my most favorite places in the world is Big Bend National Park--I love hiking!!!

I practice whatever yoga I can learn about in books, the internet, and DVDs. I just started a yoga club in my dorm, but no one else takes the meditation seriously *sigh*. I love meditation, and it helped me get through tough days during my research trip mentioned above. I've also been taking a taekwondo class, and I'm finally moving up to yellow belt this week! (provided that my belt test goes well)

I enjoyed the no 'poo thread also, as I recently grew out my hair to donate to Locks of Love. I was stupid and didn't measure the ponytail we cut off, but I went from being past my butt to resting on my shoulders. It wasn't as sad as people made it out to be... I was pretty much unaffected. =P I'm trying to keep my hair in good shape again so I can donate in the future.

Hi hi, I'm Aila-al-Jehan, you can call me Aila if I'm ever actually online (I got bannated by the parentals for bad grades. D: ) I'm a high school junior. I am an artist, I love art, and I plan to be a comic artist, I'm sitting here with my cat on my lap, and

Religionwise... well, I dont follow any specific one, but my philosophy is kind of a satanism/humanitarian/agnostic/gaian/transindental hodgepodge. I don't know, I can't know, but my best idea is that we are our own gods as we are manifestation of everything in our worlds, we have the power to make our own decisions and our own changes with no higher authority lording over us than the laws of mother earth... and physics.

I used to practice magick, but because of schoolwork, I started slacking off in my practice and hope to rekindle over the summer. Even though I rarely find the time to do it, I love Yoga (hatha) and I usually perform meditations with stones at night to set the mood of my upcoming day. I just bought myself two rose quartz and some moonstone, so I hope to make my friday a very happy, feminine goddess day for me. biggrin

Hope I'm welcome when Im actually on! Please don't bannate me for inactivity, I dont have a choice... D:

No one gets the banhammer for inactivity. We're too new for that (though that rule never made sense to me anyway, in guilds).

Heya. biggrin

I go by a lot of names, so ... Feel free to pick from any, or make a new one! I love nicknames. biggrin

Miharu, Mii-(-san, chan, etc.), Bailey and Bailiff.

I'm currently seventeen. I'm getting married next March to Omegafedora. (IRL) biggrin

I'm definitely an environmental nut. I try to find any way I can to help my environment (which is pretty hard living in BFE with no recyling system or... Anything good like that. gonk )

My favourite superhero when I was a kid was CAPTAIN PLANET.

I hate vegitables. I'm not a vegitarian. Pass the bacon.

Welcome!

There's a few tips in the PROTIPS thread you can probably use....recycling isn't the only way to make a difference.

I live in an area that makes you pay for recycling services, so I can relate.

No, but having so much waste and not being able to do anything with it bugs me a lot for some reason...

I blame Captain Planet.

hi, I'm nuri. I'm 23 and have an English Degree, and my eventual goal is to be a youth librarian of some sort. My English interests run the gamut -- pretty much everything except grammar. I took a master-level sociolinguistics course to get out of a 100-level grammar course when I was in college.

I'm a Hellenic Polytheist, and in particular, a devotee of Dionysos. I'm a beginner bellydancer -- which I use for ritual as a method of meditation and offering to the gods.

My real goal right now is to just scale down. For a young'en, I have a lot of things that I have no use for. I really admire the goals of the simple lifestyle. My dream was to live in a cob home that I built myself, but my fiancee doesn't want to deal with that. Silly goose.

I also want, someday, to take courses in herbalism etc, but thats far off. At this point, I'm just beginning my life and until I own a home, gardening isn't in the picture.

In college, I worked for University Recycling, and was the only girl to stick around for more than a year. I always like that the Environmental Science people did sorting as a publicity stunt, and the English major was doing the work 3 days a week.

And like Miharu, I hate vegetables. In particular, salad. If I wanted to eat grass, I'd eat grass.

My name is Sesshira (Sess for short), IRL name Terra (Yes, as in Terra-Firma, greek Gaia). I'm a 19 year old high school graduate from Eugene, Oregon. I'm eventually planning on college, I just want a more solid plan on what I'm doing (Actually, I'm currently working on studying abroad in Japan. Foreign language has always been a strong point of mine, but it's kind of on the low at the moment because I have a few people telling me to be more practical with my studies)...So in the mean time, I sell clothes/apparel items for a living...

My interests/hobbies include: Rugby, rafting, rock climbing, hair dye, piercings, concerts, random bike trips, reading (mainly social/political books. Oh, and manga..tons of manga), and astrology. Sun in Pisces, Moon in Gemini, ASC and Lilith in Leo, Mercury in Aquarius, so on and so forth...

My religious/spiritual views are: Non-Practicing Christian of the Unitarian Universalist sort. I think Jesus of Nazareth was a cool dude, doing his peaceful thing...Other than that, I guess I'm more in with the Dharmic spirituality.

Food habits: I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian. In other words, I just don't eat land animals...It's not so much the health thing, as it just tastes bad to me. xp I love my tofu. Woo woo.

Other: I found this group by pure accident. I was looking for a guild involving ways to get involved with nature (helping old growth, stuff like that) because I've been doing a LOT of reading on EcoSabotage activists who have been incarcerated as "terrorists" in my area. I wanted to know what it meant to do Sabotage and how people have twisted it into terrorism. sweatdrop I don't have the cajones to commit arson (Hell, I don't know if I'm capable of tree-spiking), I just wanted more knowledge on it.

On that note, I just thought I'd point out I like to learn completely random things. I probably know a lot more useless stuff than practical.

Anywhhooooo, for my final note, I guess the reason I ended up joining this is to just learn alternative ways of living (and saving my low-income self some monies). It should be fun (and perhaps healthy whee )! I look forward to getting to know people and learning new things.
