My uncle was involved in the emo/punk scene in his youth. And he's turned me on to a lot of bands I wouldn't have otherwise heard of.

He mentioned that one of his favorite albums was For Your Own Special Sweetheart by Jawbox.

And I have to agree, it is a brilliant, fantastic album.

It seems like they're overlooked a lot, but I really think they're worth a mention or two.

Also, Mission of Burma (I found out about them on my own :p) is excellent. But that's another topic, for another time. Their guitarist is offering guitar lessons if you live in the Boston area. Wish I did. ):

I posted these guys in the emo guild a while back. Nobody wanted to talk about them. They're all about the skreamiez there, like Kidcrash and s**t.

I love that album so hard. They got signed to a huge label and all, but their music still had integrity, technicality, and just really good melodies.

They're not bad, but I like pubescent vocals and twinkly guitar s**t much more. A good mix of both is a band called Jupiter Lander. Best new band imho.
