Contrary to popular belief, the tower that is known as the Squad 12 Headquarters is little more than a facade, a station of grim soulless entities who merely resemble Shinigami. This is all for the purpose of concealment, as the old headquarters of that troublesome former captain were too... inadequate for the Good Doctor's experiments. No, this place is merely a guard station for the true headquarters which lay far beneath the Seireitei in a large complex resembling a double helix, as per the Good Doctor's orders. In this labyrinthine compound are some of Dr. Gheis' most prized experiments and of course some of his 'failures'. Accessed through means only known by Squad 12, the other Captains and their lieutenants, this monument to science, souls , and magic is not a place to take lightly. Also, because of the Good Doctor's charm, there seems to be only female Shinigami working in this area as his assistants. In fact, the only male beings down here are some of the research specimens and experiments. Also, not to be confused with the typical 'Mad scientist' laboratory, this area is well lit and normally not at all imposing. However, it has it's darker points, such as the menagerie, the museum and sometimes zoo of the Good Doctor's past and present works, herein lies a genetic duplicate of each of Dr. Gheis' past experiments and is also where some of his more 'excitable' works live, in high security cells.

Finally returning to his laboratory via the secret entrance in the Squad 12 Tower, Dr. Gheis dismisses his gorgeous assistant and sets to work on his latest research specimen, a young Ryoka who'd snuck into the Seireitei, apparently searching for his older brother. Despite being a plus on the smaller side, this youth seemed to have extraordinary spiritual pressure. It was the Good Doctor's duty, nay his pleasure to determine the cause. Obviously the youth was still alive, just held in a special containment field to allow the Good Doctor to study him. After all, Dr. Gheis would NEVER kill a child to determine the source of their powers, no, keeping them alive proved to yield far better results.
