So this Friday there is going to be a show at a local club some friends of mine put together. It's called Kalamashoegazing, playing off our city's name. It's going to be six indie, dreampop, and shoegaze bands. Only two of them are actually shoegaze, but all of the bands are pretty good. My personal favorites are Jura, Glowfriends, and Crash City Saints. But check it outttt:
Crash City Saints
Glowfriends
Jura
The other bands are In Civilian Clothing, Ransom and the Mood, and Defender. They're alright, but I'm looking forward to the groups posted.
Just thought I'd share that witchoo gaiz.

Nobody in my city knows what shoegazing is.

I don't have time to listen to them all right now, but Crash City Saints sound really good. I wish I still lived back there. ): The closest thing to shoegaze ever to come to Colorado since I've lived here are the Silversun Pickups, and they're not really even close to the real thing. Blah. Still, cool. stuff. What's the club?
Ohh! I should tell my friend that lives back there to go.

Man, if you want an excuse to come back and visit, this should be it. xD
@ Delay - You're moving?

Like what? It's a nice place. Well, if you're downtown.

Anyway, so Kalamashoegazing was amazing. Seriously. So so so much energy there. Only downfall were these stupid college kids who came there to drink and have something to do, so they'd talk through all of the quiet songs. They were kicked out, amusingly enough.
I danced so hard my entire body still hurts. It's a good kind of hurt, naturally. :]

Awesome.
Sorta off topic, I get dragged to all these tragic jam band concerts because my dad was a Dead Head, right? So I've noticed that attendees at jam band concerts are some of the rudest concert-goers out there. Literally, they talk through every song. Not that I'm missing much when they do, but they're all so god damn high and drunk that between the music and the hippies, I can't help but think: suicide is my only option. Nothing is worse than being at a String Cheese Incident show at Red Rocks (it was one of their last shows, which made the whole thing even worse) and having a drunk 40 year old woman ask you to dance.
...So... That's what popped into my head when you mentioned drunken college kids getting thrown out of the club. Sounds great like it was an awesome time!

I'm actually really into some jam bands. For the first five years of my life, until Jerry Garcia died, I toured with the Grateful Dead with my mom, so I kind of grew up on it.

I was brought up on it too. I went to one of the mass funeral things for Garcia in '95 with my dad. In Kalamazoo, actually. Haha. I dunno. Somewhere our paths diverged, I guess. I don't get it.
Ho'well.

I never toured with them, but I went to a few Dead shows in my early 20's.
