Hey guys. Took a trip to the mall last night to pick up some new manga. The two I decided on were Dr. Slump vol 1 and Shakugan no Shana vol 1.
Dr. Slump was hillarious, but Shakugan no Shana was amazing! I defenitely cant wait to get the next volume of it. 3nodding The character design kinda reminds me of Haruhi Suzumiya. lol What do you think about these anime/manga.

Dr.Slump...... that was Akira Toriyama's work before he started Dragon Ball, right? wink Anyways, I haven't had much experience with that series aside from the brief cross-over episode it had in the dragonball series; though I have heard good things about it, and if its Toriyama style art, then its a definite plus ^_^
As for Shana, I can only say good job for picking it up 3nodding . The manga has a very refreshing art style, which plays up on the comical sides of the characters (Shana's expression during the spoon scene on the rooftop comes to mind). If you really want to get into the series though, I suggest you look for the light novels; I was able to find the second volume (Fight Day), and its definitely a must have for those who want to understand the Shakugan no Shana world (and Noizi Ito's art is also much appreciated; so many cute Shana scenes in the 2nd volume >_<).
But, as they mention in the manga itself, the Manga, Anime, and Light Novels all go in separate directions to reach the same goal, and so you're better off focusing on one over the other or you'll be confused with the ordering of certain events. I cannot truly suggest one aspect over the other though, so its up to you to decide which is best for you. The manga's lightheartedness, the novel's details, or the anime's feeling of immersion due to its excellent soundtrack.
Of course, you could always get the soundtrack and listen to it while you read the manga >_<
