At the bequest of The Couch, here is the Metropolis City RP thread, a continuation of the pulp inspired role play initiated by The Philanthropist.

Anyone else who wants to jump in, the dialog starting these shenanigans can be found on pages 1131--1137 of The Couch in the main forum.

Tune in next week for the Parlor of Shadows, and Congo Crusades!

Freedom Rings can't help but notice just how wonderful the inside of this car feels. She can't see what it looks like, but she can sense the comfort. She quickly pushes this sensation from her thoughts and turns back to more imporant matters

Yes, I did notice. Some day you'll have to tell me how you know I can't see through iron pyrite.

How heroine spends the remander of the drive in silence, wondering if she can truly trust this man, The Philanthropist. How does he know so much about her when she knows so little about her? What kind of man is he really? These questions and more will need to be answered, but until then she will work with him...but cautionly for the time being.

"To be honest, dear lady, I did not know that. But your secret is safe with me," says The Philanthropist before taking a sip of tea. "The fabric composing your blindfold as well as my own mask was created by one of my old tutors, the Professor of Perception, Doctor Oculus. Good man -- brilliant, if somewhat paranoid. Nothing yet known can glimpse beyond this wonderous fabric, though the Doctor's various idiosyncrasies leave him spending all his time putting it to any test he can imagine for fear of finding a flaw."

The Philanthrosine comes to a stop, having reached its destination. Of course, the ride is so smooth -- despite its incredible speed -- that the passengers are likely unaware until the trip has ended until the door pops itself open once more.

"Welcome to my home. I hope you don't find me rude in asking that you be careful removing the blindfold. It was a gift, after all."

Once the passengers exit the vehicle, they find themselves standing in darkness as the car slides away. Stepping beyond a curtain, a lavish, high-ceilinged room is revealed, adorned with plush couches and chairs, ornately carved end-tables, towering bookcases and a grand fireplace, which casts a flickering light and comforting warmth on the whole scene.

"Please, make yourself comfortable. I'm afraid I must away to finish the dinner preparations. Do excuse me." With a swift bow, The Philanthropist vanishes behind the entrance curtain.

Penny leans over and mutters to Freedom Rings...

Don't worry, you'll get used to the theatrics.

Almost as if on cue from the word 'theatrics,' the curtain parts to allow the Thunder Dragon entrance, accompanied by Gwendolyn Lane - the Century Club's foremost Improvisational Engineer. A spot of livid red on the aviator's cheek is at odds with his buoyant swagger.

"Oy then, we didn't miss dinner now did we? I do -love- a good duck."

"Well then, you arrived just in time," calls the voice of The Philanthropist. "Dinner is served."

The dark curtain about the entrance peels back once again, but gone is the darkness to which the Philanthrosine delivered its passengers and from which The Thunder Dragon and his companion had appeared. In its stead, the archway reveals a lavishly furnished dining room lit by candles set in silver and a glistening chandelier. The centerpiece of the room is the long, sturdy wooden table, already laid out with a wide variety of dishes. The Philanthropist, crowned with a white chef's hat, finishes laying out the silverware and gestures welcomingly to his guests.

"Please take your seats," implores the gallant gourmet. "I've a few touches to add before the main course is ready. I've prepared some green salads, with a touch of mint leaves, to start off with and some dressing of my own concoction. I'll be back with the wine in a moment and if you would prefer something else, feel free to ask."

Gwendolyn takes a seat opposite of the Thunder Dragon, resisting the urge to prop her boots up on the edge of the elegant table.

A Guinness if you would, Philly love. You know I don't drink that Italian schlock. She calls lightly at the curtain, before digging out her metal card of cigarettes. Only after she has lit one does she notice the other two ladies at the table, and she leans forward with a smile.

Kyle is hell about introductions. Gwendolyn Lane. I'm your mechanic for the evening, She offers her hand first to Penny, and then the masked woman, a bit confused as to the costume, but going with it. When one associates with the Thunder Dragon, one learns to accept oddities as they come.

Freedom Ringsnods in response to Penny's comment while trying to stifle a chuckle. The comment struck her as funny since she herself was standing around in not much more than her underwear and a cape. She almost laughed out loud again, but her attention was drawn away by the arrival a woman named Gwendolyn, who kindly greeted her and Penny.

Freedom Rings kindly offers her hand in return to Gwendolyn.
Nice to meet you, I'm Freedom Rings.
