Noxious Puppet

Hello out there!

For those that work with PMC, PMC3, Metal Clays, etc, I want to know who you are, because I would love to discuss techniques and ideas with you. I have worked with PMC3 during my Senior year of high school and I want to get back into it again because the idea of making jewelry has always fascinated me, esspeically from small pieces of metal. I think sometime in the near future do I want to try soldering sterling silver, but I would love to get feedback from someone with experience, the ups and downs of it, and possibly learn a thing or two if it's right for me even.

Working with metals in general is a feeling that I enjoy and I would love to try it out. If you are a metalsmith or fellow kneader of silver, speak up! :}

i'm working with silver right now with my pendants i'm making.

(see sterling silver penguin thread)

as far as PMC goes, i've been looking into it for a while. it's available through a catalog i have at the jewelry store i work in. it looks really fun to work with, and i love the fact that you can fire it with findings molded right into it.

as far as soldering silver goes it's not the easiest thing i've ever done. i've already exploded two pieces i made. for the most part i've been told to heat the entire piece up moving the torch in quick circles to evenly heat it up. then concentrate the torch where the solder is to get it to flow.

i'm still in the early learning process, but it's quick to pick up the techniques.

good luck.
