Welcome to the Out of Character Random Discussion Room!

Anything goes here! You can talk about anything! (PG-13 though please! We have kids on this site!)

Well, I guess I'll get a discussion started or something.

What other types of vampire types of movies, books, anime, or manga is everyone interested in besides Anita Blake?

I happen to like Hellsing quite a lot. Alucard rocks!
I like the manga series Vampire Knight too.
I like some random vampire movies that aren't in any series. I used to read some Maggie Shane novels but I don't read them much anymore.

I love the Night World series by L.J Smith. I first read a few of them years ago when I was younger and because of the awsome-ness that is amazon I have them all!

I'm a bit gutted that the last one still hasn't some out yet but I've read a couple of things on it (a chapter and a short story based in the series' future or something) and they were really sad sad

Oh I used to read the Night World series. I don't know if I've read all of them though. I have read a whole lot of them. I loved the fact that the vampires were mostly just like normal people.

Dracula. Best vampire book ever, and no one reads it because it's old.. I heart my ancient vampire books.

Lol. I definately tried to reasd it but I'm not sure if I finished it. I may have found it hard to read because of the style - is it like reading a journal?

Mhmm. It's more or less Jonathan Harker's journal, with things from other characters thrown in to advance the plot and tell you where they are and what they're doing while Jonathan is trapped in his own personal hell with the Count. I admit it's a bit dull while you get used to the format, but it's a very interesting story.

Ooh I love Dracula. He's my favorite vampire! I might have said at some point that Alucard from Hellsing is my favorite vampire but look at his name a little closer; he's not a different person. lol.
Anyway Bram Stoker is really cool.

Yeah. I borrowed a copy from the school library and it had boxes that were meant to be pages from the journal and I didn't get it.

I don't know if I have a favourite vampire, I like them all.

I also like Dracula. I agree though that it was a little hard to follow sometimes.

I also like a children's series called Cirque Du Freak that is about a boy named Darren Shan, whose name by the way is also name of the author of the book. The boy goes to a freak show one night with his friend and eventually ends up getting turned into a half vampire by a vampire that travels with the freak show. He becomes the vampire's assistant and that is about how far I have gotten so far in the series. lol.

The kid's friend is rather scary. I would have to say that he sounds like a young Edward. He likes reading about monsters a lot and has "the blood of a murderer" according to the vampire at least. He even said that he wanted to become a soldier of fortune when he was grown up. Hey Edward were you named Steve when you were a kid and did you know someone named Darren Shan?

Lol. I've heeard of them but I really can't become obsessed with more vampires. When I was younger (around 13 I saw Interview With The Vampire and at some point I read some of the Night Worlds and I think it spiralled from them. Plus watching Buffy didn't help) I was really into just vampires and didn't really like shapeshifters or zombies. Then it went away and I get and Anita Blake book and it spiralled again. But now I appreciate were's and fey and stuff aswell.

I thought Darren Shan was just the author untill I saw a couple of the books in a charity shop on monday and read the backs. It's a good idea if you ask me.

And maybe it WAS Edward and Laurell K Hamilton and Darren Shan will do some crazy double-author/ cross over books or something eek Squee! blaugh

Agh, Interview with the Vampire. I used to like that movie but now when I watch it I cannot get over how bad Tom Cruise is as Lestat. Tom Cruise scares me. The thing I get mad at is when people say that he would be a good choice to play me in a Anita Blake film. Eeeww. ::cringes:: Just because he had long blond hair in Interview does not make him a good Asher!

"And I would tell you my lifestory why?"

(lol, he does sound like him! This book was called Cirque Du Freak right? I should check it out.)

I'm not joking - becuase I was really young when I first say Interview and didn't know that actors I didn't know for years which one was played by Brad Pitt and which by Tom Cruise. I liked Cruise as Lestat, I think he made him quite funny and just a bit strange. I liked Stuart Townsend playing him in Queen Of The Damned because he made it a lot sexier.

However, saying that I started the book Lestat and just couldn't get into it, so maybe it's just because they made me like the character?

For poops and giggles? Because we would never believe you were telling the truth anyway.
