Hello, welcome to the Writer's Proofreading Guild!
This guild is here for three reasons: to help writers fix their mistakes, to give willing beta-readers something to do and last but not least: to give writers an opportunity to swap ideas and give them a platform.
We hope to be a place where writers in need or any avid reader willing to proofread can meet up, be merry and discuss the wonderful world of the English language. Enjoy your stay here, follow the rules and play nice, so that no one gets hurt/banned/otherwise gets any damage inflicted. This thread is created for the following topics:
Welcoming (1st post, you are here!)
The rules (2nd post)
Signing up (3rd post)
Frequently Asked Questions (4th post)
Guild banners (5th post)
Affiliates (6th post)
Donator list (7th post)
New feature request (8th post)
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to post them here, but be sure it is not yet on the FAQ list. Also, new features such as subforums are available for guilds now, so if you have a request/good idea, please post it, share!
Thread will be updated when needed, so keep checking up on it!

The Rules
Follow the terms of Services as stated by gaiaonline.com.
Post your threads in the right forum.
No bumping/counting/spamming/being senseless, save that for the Chatterbox. We are here for a reason.
Respect everyone and their ideas, no flaming.
With any problems (with the Guild, members, etc.) or questions, contact the Captain first.
Have fun and be active! This guild is of no use if no one visits and posts.

Signing Up
A lot of (amateur) writers on here and on communities as fanfiction.net and fictionpress.com don't have English as their native tongue. Still, they often choose not to write in their own for several reasons, one may be a bigger public reach. However, as they're not fluid, they tend to make some pretty (silly) mistakes once in a while. This is why there are beta-readers, or proofreaders.
If you want to sign up, answer the questions in the first post of the following threads:
Lists will be made in the first 8 posts of the thread.

FAQ List: How and where
How and where can I get my stories beta'd? One way is to put your story up in The Library or request help with a summary on The Billboard and wait for critiques. Another way is to seek contact with anyone from the beta-list is to send them a small summary by pm and see if they are interested in proofreading for you.
FAQ List: The forums
Forums, forums, but what can we post in each one? The main forum is The Billboard. Other forums are The Library for your works, The Writing Lab for all things NaNoWriMo-related and The Sitting Room for general off-topic discussion. Why sub-forums? To keep things easy to navigate. We'll end up with hundreds of posts soon enough!
What is 'The Billboard' for? This is the main forum. It's meant for general writing-related discussion, as well as for advertising and broadcasting your need for a beta. You can find the beta-lists here and threads similar to the Writers Forum, about all aspects of writing and being a writer. Or reader!
What is 'The Library' for? In this sub-forum you can post a story summary, link or chapter by chapter and await critique. In the title, put FF (fanfiction), OF (original fiction) or ONF (original non-fiction); the title of the story and rating in the thread header. Warnings such as 'slash' may be given too. For example: 'FF: Mistletoe Trouble. PG-13/T. slash.'
What is 'The Writing Lab' for? In this sub-forum all NaNoWriMo discussion and threads have their place. Be it posting day by day bits of your writing, whining about how hard it all is (and it is!) or in the months after to get the help you want. Just remember: November is for writing, December is for editing!
What is 'The Sitting Room' for? In this sub-forum you can merrily chatter off-topic!
FAQ List: NaNoWriMo
What is this NaNoWriMo you speak about? NaNoWriMo stands for 'National Novel Writing Month', but by now it should be International instead! It's a writing event that goes by quantity before quality--the main goal is to write 50k (that's 50000!) words between November 1st and November 30th. Don't forget to say goodbye to your social life!
Where can I find more about this event? You can find more information on their website. You can also make an account there to keep track of your wordcount and find help and brotherly love on their forums.
I'm scared. Will you be there for me in November? Of course we will! That's why The Writing Lab is there.

I have a suggestion: In one of the other guilds I'm in, everyone is starting to fight because people are only posting "spam" (chats that, surprisingly enough, do have to do with the guild topic). Perhaps you could have a little sub-forum for a place of just chatting, so that no one will have to worry about "spamming" the guild to death and cluttering up the main page?
And also, it's AWESOME that you finally got the guild up! Finally! XD

And also, it's AWESOME that you finally got the guild up! Finally! XD My original idea was creating a sub for posting stories and having the main for discussion... Maybe an off-topic-sub? A sub costs 2500 (if I remember correctly), so we need some gold to go first ^^;
