I like Irish/Newfoundland music (they're very similar). Not all of it, just like I don't like all hard rock or all country or all rap or all reggae. But I do like some of all of the above. I have very extremely diverse tastes in music.
But Irish music. Maybe it's because my roots are in East coast Canada, which is very Irish/Scottish. Or maybe it's because I've become an adult in Newfoundland, which, as I said is very similar to Ireland since they're mostly descended from the Irish.
I know it's not cool. I know it's not angry at the world and screaming in pain. I know it's not popular. But have you ever really listened to the lyrics? And some of the melodies are haunting.
There's pain and laughter and loneliness and love. And the sea. Always the sea, which is my first love. Well, my second, but you know. ninja
It helps to know something of the history and the suffering of the Irish, I guess, but even without that. It gets me. Not the reels. I don't like the reels.
I love their sense of humour as well. It's just silly. And awesome. And tongue in cheek.

Thats mostly why Im in love with Flogging Molly. I have not listened to a great deal of the genre but what I have I have strong emotions for.

Hah Flogging Molly's great. And I think Four Years Strong is also Irish but I may be thinking of a different band.

I like some of everything too.
Try looking up the differences between Vienna Teng, Elvis, Jimmy Buffett and AFI. razz
