Welcome New Members!
No doubt you're anxious to get started on your journey as a Member of the fabled Gaioh ninja clan, So let me give you a quick run-down of the process.
Once you've cleared the applicant stage (by now you should be accepted to the guild), the first thing you'll want to do is set up your Profile. This will be your alter ego, the Superman to your Gaia persona's Clark Kent. You will use this character to advance your own personal story, as well as to complete missions, enter tournaments and so forth.

Great! Now you've got a character, it's time to take a gander at the options available to you as a genin.
First, let's take a gander at your fellow genin. Birds of a feather should flock together, and it's good to be acquainted with your peers. You'll probably be seeing a lot of them in the future, so don't be shy about making friends. Some of the bonds you make can last even after you reach the prestigious rank of ANBU.
Other good places to meet people are the clan grounds, where members of a certain clan congregate; the village proper, full of the day to day occurrences in the guild; and the arena, where friends and foes alike come together to do battle.

The next thing you'll want to do is find a mentor. Most members ranked above you are qualified to instruct and lead groups of genin, like the coach of a very small soccer team. Visit the ranks thread to see who's ranked what, and send a few PMs to Jounin or Chuunin ranked members. The profiles threads can help you choose which member you think you might want to teach you.

Once you've got a teacher you might see about joining missions. Missions are the lifeblood of a ninja village, bringing revenue to the village through rewards for services rendered. They can be easy or hard, depending on your skill. Ask your teacher or teachers about setting up a mission for your team.

So! Now that you've covered the basics, You should be ready to go. Let me give you a quick review, and then we'll cover some topics you might run across in your time here.
Step 1: Join the guild. But you knew that, right?
Step 2: Set up a profile. Tell us about yourself.
Step 3: Meet and greet. Put your best foot forward and make some friends. Be sure to check out all Gaioh has to offer you!
Step 4: Find a teacher. Make him/her teach you things.
All caught up? Then on to the next subject.
The following information is optional, as you'll probably learn about these topics on your own during the course of your adventure. If you want to learn about it now anyway, read on..
Tournaments. Ready to move on to the next rank? We regularly hold tournaments to decide who gets to advance to Chuunin and Jounin rank.
Tournaments are held in a special Sub-Forum, and are run like Battles in the Arena (surely you've had one of those), with a few minor changes.
The time limit for posting is one week from the date of the last post. If you're too slow to post, you get disqualified and the other participant advances to the next round. Be active!
When you win your match, you get set up against the winning participant from one of the other matches. Process continues until one participant is all that is left.
Advancement is generally determined by how well you RP your skills as a fighter/strategist, not on how many matches you win, but the more you win, the more chances you get to show off your talents!
The Tournament subforum is usually empty unless an event is being held, and so there is no link provided
ANBU Rank ANBU is a special rank reserved for the very best fighters, tacticians, and trackers the village has to offer. It is treated as a very powerful Jounin rank for purposes of responsibilities and taking students. Battles among certain ANBU are often the most cataclysmic events in the guild, as their fighting prowess typically approaches that of the Hanekage. ANBU are often candidates for replacement Kage, in the event the current one should be unable to perform his duties.
ANBU are not selected often, and the process is more arduous than Jounin and Chuunin tournaments. The ANBU themselves choose the test and decide who passes or fails as they see fit. If your skills catch the eye of the right people, you could one day find yourself among the Guild's elite few.
The Anbu are not secretive about their identities, prefering to use their famed power as a deterrent to would-be assassins. Their headquarters, however, is well hidden and off limits to those who do not have the proper clearance.
