Ew, that sucks. It's in my contract that they can't do that.

My rent is stuck at $375, they can't do anything to change it because I have a contract like Brittany.

Wow are you on a contract because if they are upping the rent mid contract you can get them in alot of trouble because its a breach of contract.

My Rent here is $1350 but split between to people its $675 If we could just get a third person to move in with us rent will be $450 each! it would be nice ^.^

She can still have a contract and have them raise the price. Some contracts have a clause that states that they can raise it every so often. I know that ours can't raise unless we've been here for 2+ years, and then, IF they decide to raise we can opt out of it, and not have to pay any fees, regardless of where we are in our contract. It's nice smile

My rent right now is $325 (the apt rent is split between two people), and yes, they are allowed to do that. I've never seen or signed a contract, because my roommate was here first and I just kind of moved in. It works for both of us. However, if my rent goes up to $360 or something, I'll have to think about moving out. I could pay it for now, but not next term, plus if I pay it, I wouldnt be able to do all the traveling I have planned.

Could your roommate afford you moving out if rent raises?
