Gaia Name: Olivier LeBeau
Character Name: Olivier LeBeau
Codename: Olivier Raven
Alignment: Good
Powers:Olivier, like his mother, has the power of 'involuntary absorption'. Breaking it down this means that with skin on skin contact the boy can absorb everything out of a sentient being. He can absorb their knowledge, their personality, their energy, their memories, powers, physical abilities, and their talents. They do not have to be human, by any means, they simply have to be alive. The person under the affects do not have to be human, either, he'll get everything, no matter what. There are, however, unfortunate side effects to absorbing the memories and personality traits of other people: You end up with the emotional side effects that go with them. It's not fun. He is also able to absorb psionic abilities.
Like Rogue, Ollie is able to hold more than one set of powers at once. There is a lot of emotional strain that comes with this, though, and it isn't something he likes to do on a regular basis. The people he absorbs? They stay in his head, after all, and he's not keen on keeping them there. As in the rest of the scneario, Olivier can also absorb physical traits that would not be normal to a normal human being. If he were to touch Wolverine he would develop a set of bone claws for a short period of time. The power transfer is generally temporary, lasting only for a set duration of time based on the length he held on to the other person. The longer he touched the more likely it is to keep those powers. (Two seconds can give him anything up to ten or more minutes while an entire minute could give him a lifetime.)
Although he steals the energy from others, unlike Rogue Olivier does not generally render the person on the receiving end unconscious, able to control his powers on a much more advanced scale than she can, so much so that he generally doesn't need to wear any kind of protective clothing. He'll wear gloves occasionally, however, just because they look cool.
Although much less skilled in doing so, Olivier can recall powers that he's absorbed in the past, just the same as Rogue. They're all there in the back of his mind, simply dormant until he fires them up again. He his control over this is significantly less than the control his mother has developed over the years, though he so rarely does this with Rico there to be an unlimited power source to him that he doesn't generally need to worry about it. He can also fly, the extent of this ability is unknown.
Note: I'm taking liberties with his telepathy. It was never explained in the comics. If it, eventually, gets explained and there is an issue with things not being canon I'll change this.Like Rogue with Miss Marvel, Olivier had a run in with Cable that left him with a lot more power than he could handle at the time. Touching the man for way, way too long Olivier was granted nearly everything the telepath had; and the boy did not want. First and foremost he is able to read others' minds, as well as project their thoughts to others in small, and great amounts. When this power is in use his left eye glows bright blue, and Ollie has a broad range of abilities at his disposal. He has poor control over these abilities at current, and is in the process of undergoing training. He mainly uses his basic telepathy for contact purposes.
Bio: (Not updated to match the most recent issue of GeNext. I'm lazy, I know. I wrote it all out myself because there's no linked bio anywhere online yet. I also merged X-Men: The End and GeNext, since, even though they're two different universes, they seem to follow the same history minus a couple of changes.
PS. Stole some of it from another place I play Olivier, copypaste ftw. I can change things that seem to be a problem.)
The first born of two children, Ollie was a happy, healthy, incredibly spoiled child until his sister was born. (And even after, actually.) Remy and Marie were delighted, they'd been blessed with both a boy, and a girl, and apparently in the proper televised order at that, equally loving their children and raising them accordingly.
No, there were no barbies in Ollie's childhood. Not for him at least, thanks, though he did mutilate a few of his sister's along the way. He was a bright boy from the get-go, and determined too, and despite the development of a temper his father took him under his wing to train him in the more refined fighting arts. While his sister dabbled in music, he took up martial arts and fencing, at the request of his grandfather. ("Boy," he'd said, "You're the spitten' image of your daddy. Pick up that sword there and come fight Jean-Luc.")
'course he got his a** whooped the first time. Probably the reason he stuck with it, determination and pride. It was the driving factor of the majority of his early years. Where Bekka seemed to be perfect, and excel in everything in the face of their parents. She was more inclined, from an early age, toward the hero business while Olivier just wanted to be a kid. While their parents weren't the sort to play favorites there was still that jealousy factor in there. Bekka seemed to cling to their father like glue.
Ollie took what he got when he got it. It wasn't one of those 'ignoring one kid for the other' things, at all, it was just a matter of learning how to manage your time.
Olivier, with his sister, grew up in Valle Soleda, in California, though they'd spend the occasional Holiday in Louisiana, with Remy's foster family. They grew up alongside the Frost-Summers children, as well as others, as one rather large family, and Ollie spent the first eleven or so years of his life having a damn good time of things, learning about the X-Men, about his parents' past excursions, all of that. Then one day.. it all fell apart.
His father, after making a deal with Sinister, kidnapped him, his sister, and the Frost children, putting them in a containment cage. The six of them were left to their own devices, though Olivier, with his temper problem, ended up egging on Dark Beast in to nearly killing him at one point. Thankfully Sinister and Gambit stepped in. There was a lot of arguing to be had between the children, and eventually a plan devised that involved Bekka pretending to have got herself hurt, which drew the guards in. All capable children jumped in to action, and were it not for Sinister's orders not to harm them they would have been killed. Gambit stepped in and saved them, though not without a price -- all deals with Sinister were officially broken and it was a matter of getting them to safety. Along the way they were seperated, Bekka and Gambit going through a portal, leaving Olivier and the Frost-Summers children to fend for themselves.
Rogue managed to contact them through Megan after absorbing Emma's powers, assuring them that she was on their way with everything she'd managed to get from Megan's mind, though she nearly came too late. The group of them were cornered by a trio of cybernetic dogs looking like they'd come out of Donald Pierce's wet dream. Olivier, despite not having a snowball's chance in Hell during the summer, opted to step up and try to take them on, though Rogue showed up just in time to completely destroy them instead. Urging the children to safety after receiving the information from Olivier on the location of Gambit and Bekka she went to find them.
Only moments later Bekka arrived through a portal, in tears, but otherwise unharmed. Olivier clung to her, and together they waited for the return of their parents.
Who didn't return. It was Mystique instead who found the two of them huddled together with the Frost-Summers children, and it was she who told them of the unfortunate demise of their mother, and what was thought to be the death of their father. She informed them of the promise made to take care of her grandchildren, and returned with them to Valle Soleda when the dust had settled in an attempt to fix the damages done to her now orphaned grandchildren. They were met by Gambit, a survivor of the blast in space.
A pick up was attempted on their lives, but nothing was the same as they buried Rogue near the home they'd grown up in, though they still tried. Gambit tried to continue on with the X-Men, staying with them through the duration of the school being rebuilt, but eventually it was just too much and after a falling out with Scott he readied his children to leave. Olivier declined. He wanted to stay at the school, he wanted to stay with Megan.
Bekka was furious. She screamed at him, threw things, cried, hit him, called him every terrible name she could think of and then some, and told him he was a traitor, that he'd ruined their family, broken them up... She gave hin an ultimatum, and he left. Megan and Olivier had been living a Romeo and Juliet romance up to that point, and he'd have it no longer. He had his friends, and his life at the school and nearly lost touch with his family after that. He was the one that contacted his sister from then on out, and only once every few months just to check up on things. He never spoke with his father...
Olivier rebuilt his life at the school with friends and family there, finding family in his squadmates Rico, Pavel, No-Name, and Becka. Rico, with whom he was closest to, fast becamse his best friend and partner in training sessions, the two of them "sharing" powers and learning about one another's past. There isn't likely to be anyone that knows Rico better than Olivier, and vice versa, though Megan may be a close second on behalf of being his girlfriend and all that...
The group of them managed to scrape by in school unnoticed by any "bad guys" up until No-Name ran away one night and they chased her down, back to Valle Soleda only to be intercepted mid battle by what looked like X-Men from another dimension after No-Name. The group was transported to Genosha, which dredged up some unfortunate memories for poor Olivier. Soon after a fight was engaged, and despite having the odds against them the children managed to defeat the "X-Men" with the help of Wicked in the long run, and settled in for a long wait.
Eventually Megan, with Beast, and Valerie Cooper not far behind, arrived on the scene to take care of things, though the world wasn't going to be quiet for long...
