Episode -1
The Darkness Grows

It is a dark time for the GALACTIC REPUBLIC.
For 6 centuries the Sith and the Jedi have waged never ending battle,
and the GALACTIC SENATE has become split
as to who should support who.
With the flames of war burning from the Outer Rim
all the way to Coruscant and everywhere in between,
conflict has become a part of day to day life.

The JEDI COUNCIL has found themselves
especially under stress to keep their ranks bolstered
and well trained, going so far as to break
their age old tradition of training Jedi from birth,
opting rather to take whomever they can get before
the SITH can get their hands on the unfortunate soul.

In the meantime, rumors of a powerful weapon
have spread amongst the Jedi and the Sith ranks,
an ancient space station known as the DARK REAPER,
dating back to the Great Hyperspace War.
The Sith want to claim it for themselves,
and the Jedi wish to see it destroyed.
No one is probably closer to getting his hands on it
than the new Kaleesh Sith Emperor, DARTH OPACUS.
The Jedi Council however has discovered the location of
a SITH HOLOCRON on the planet of KORRIBAN,
containing information regarding the Dark Reaper
and have thus, sent two Jedi Knights to investigate...

The Jobs of The Galaxy

Non-Jedi Classes

Soldier: A Soldier of the Republic is someone who can walk down the street and expect people to treat him or her with respect. Capable of using just about any weapon, but not masters of any, the Soldier is your basic class. Most often, they can be found doing one or three things: heading to the front lines on a cruiser, garrisoned on a planet and fighting the Sith Empire, patrolling the galaxy for Sith Soldiers. Their highest proficiency is with blasters, both handguns and rifles. Honor, duty and Defense of the Republic, that is what a soldier lives for.

Bounty Hunter: The Bounty Hunter is an individual whose every action is driven by either money, or the thrill of the hunt. They don't care who they're target is or who they got the job from, as long as the money is good. While this doesn't mean a Bounty Hunter can't change their mind about a job it is highly unlikely. Usually Bounty Hunters wield two handed blasters, along with stranger weapons like miniature missile packs, flamethrowers and wrist mounted energy blades.

Scoundrel: A Scoundrel is much like the Bounty Hunter in that most of their goals are driven by money or the need to challenge authority. To a Scoundrel, freedom or death means everything. Because of this, when it came to choosing sides between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic, the Scoundrels of the Galaxy more often than not choose the Republic. With a sharp wit, a good blaster and a great deal of luck, any Scoundrel can make his/her fortune in this harsh and war torn galaxy. You will never find a better shot with a handgun blaster than a Scoundrel, and a similar statement can be said for their piloting ability.

Myrmidon: The Myrmidon is quickly becoming an oddity in the Galaxy as swords are being replaced by blasters. And there may be no warrior better with the sword ((With the possible exception of a Jedi)) than the Myrmidon. Masters of the sword and the terrifying Vibroblade, most Myrmidons tend to make their livings as mercenaries and bounty hunters, however the Republic has been known to conscript them into service.

Medic: A Medic is an individual who is devoted to the protection of life in all it's form. During the past 600 years of conflict many doctors have been conscripted into the Republic military's forces to become Medics. What they soon found however, was that the Bacta Tank armed Medics were not too quick to abandon anyone who was injured, Republic or Sith. This of course could lead to problems, Medics healing wounded Sith warriors and sending them back to the battlefield. But it's a necessary evil, the Republic need someone who is willing to save lives, and the Medics need jobs. Usually they do not carry lethal weapons, preferring rather to carry taser staffs and shock blasters.

Jedi Classes

Jedi Guardian: A Jedi Guardian refers to any Jedi whose skills lay in battle, not in meditation or honing their Force powers. They are some of the best swordsmen in the Galaxy, matched only by the fearsome Sith Warriors. All of their Force powers are directed towards mastering and honing their skills with a lightsaber. Because of their combat oriented abilities, Guardians often are not placed on the Jedi Council, but rather find themselves as high ranking members of the Jedi army against the Sith.

Jedi Consular: Sometimes referred to as Jedi Seers, the Consular is a virtual bridge between the natural living world and the Force itself. Capable of channeling the Force through their bodies, it allows them to pull off incredible feats, such as levitating massive space ships or even seeing into the future. More often than not, the Jedi Council is led by a Consular, as the Guardians are often too brash to provide any suitable words or thoughts of wisdom.

Jedi Sentinel: The Jedi Sentinel is often referred to as being in between the combat oriented Guardian and wisdom focused Consular. While not absolute masters of either lightsaber wielding or Force manipulation, the Sentinel is still a figure to respect. Often, when they are forced to do battle, they combine their Force abilities with their skill with a lightsaber by drawing their opponent towards them and then slashing them. Sentinel's are the most common kind of Jedi to sit on the Council, finding a balance between strength and wisdom.

Jedi Shadow: Often an elite Jedi Sentinel, was a Jedi investigator whose duty was to seek out and destroy any sign of the dark side of the Force. If Jedi Guardians were the protectors of the Order, the Shadows were the secret police. While such an idea might make some people nervous, if you are not a card carrying member of the Sith Order, you have little to worry about. Like the Sentinel's, the Shadows use both the Force and lightsabers together to augment their abilities.

The Sacking of Coruscant and The Great Jedi/Sith War

In the waning days of the last Great Galactic War, in 3,653 BBY ((Before Battle of Yavin 4)) the vulnerable and weakened forces of the Republic and the Sith Empire decided that, rather than risk anymore bloodshed, it was in both parties best interest to move toward peace. Both the 1,300 year old Sith Emperor and the Republic Senate sent representatives to the planet of Alderaan, in order to negotiate the peace agreement and the ceasefire. But the Sith are not easily defeated, and still had one final move to play before end game was declared. As the representatives peacefully negotiated on Alderaan, a massive Sith fleet under the command of Lord Angral ((Now referred to as Angral The Destroyer)) swarmed the capital world of Coruscant.

The vast cityscape of the capital was devastated and leveled, with civilian casualties counted in the billions. At the same time as the massacre, a squadron of Sith warriors, led by a single, still unidentified Sith Lord, invaded the Jedi Temple, smashing a Republic dropship through the main entrance. Immediately, from the rear of the craft, a group of at least 25 Sith rushed out, charging the surprised Jedi. The result was an utter bloodbath, with at least six of the 12 Jedi Council members being slaughtered, the others were safe at other theaters of operation around the galaxy.

The Supreme Chancellor of the Republic was able to make a distress call to Senator Am-Ris, the Republic representative to the Alderaan Accords, urging him to call of the peace talks and that it was a trick. But it was already too late. As the Sith obliterated Coruscant, the peace talks on Alderaan broke down into terms of surrender. With little choice, Am-Ris was forced to declare the Republic's surrender to unfavorable terms. Though the Sith did not occupy Coruscant, after slaughtering the Jedi and terrorizing the surface, Lord Angral, made the decision to leave and return to his master's side. With the Sith unable to defend their own capital of Korriban should the Republic opt to invade it and the Republic's capital already having been devastated, the Great Galactic War came to an end...In stalemate.

In the aftermath of the battle, the Jedi, who had lost the support and trust of the Republic due to their failure to protect Coruscant, left the planet and relocated to Tython, the world where the Force had been discovered thousands of years earlier. There, they rebuilt they're order, and prepared for the new war which was sure to come.

Indeed, by 3,623, the new war did come. But this time, the Republic was the one to strike first, and thus have the upperhand. In an act of revenge the Republic invaded Korriban, laying waste to it's surface in much the same way that the Sith had done to Coruscant decades earlier. The new war had begun. During the initial assault, the Sith Emperor was slain and the Sith forced to abandon their ancestral homeworld.

Over the course of the next 652 years, the Jedi ((Who eventually returned to Coruscant at the welcome request of the Republic)) and the Sith waged unending war, even more devastating than the last one. This conflict became known as the Great Jedi/Sith War. After a slew of weak and easily overthrown Sith Emperor's, a new one has risen at last. The Kaleesh Sith Lord, Darth Opacus. His true name is unknown. His goals are unclear, though he appears to have turned his attention towards the broken and scattered superweapon, the Dark Reaper, upon which the next record will go into great detail.

The Dark Reaper

The Dark Reaper worked by harvesting the Force using the Force Harvester, a device that killed anything within range by draining its Force energy and focusing it into beams that dealt massive damage to any object. However, the Reaper could not harvest a wound in the Force.

The Reaper was also equipped with dark side-powered turbolasers. In order to defeat the Dark Reaper, an ancient Jedi Knight named Ulic Qel-Droma taught the Jedi Knights how to withstand the Dark Reaper's effects.

During the Great Sith War, the Krath, a secret society of Republic aristocrats rediscovered a weapon of mass destruction created by the Sith during the Great Hyperspace War and used it against the Galactic Republic. As it needed massive amounts of energy to function, the Krath had it target the Living Force to provide power. When fallen Jedi Ulic Qel-Droma returned from the Krath he taught the Jedi how to defeat the Reaper. After the war, the Jedi Order scattered the Reaper's pieces to the far corners of the galaxy.

It seems however that 1,025 years after Ulic Qel-Droma's destruction of the Dark Reaper and subsequent redemption, clues about the weapon have reemerged. One of the Holocrons containing data on the weapon has been identified as being in one of the ancient Sith Academies on Korriban. Two Jedi Knights, Noama Koth and Linora Varik have been sent to investigate and retrieve the Holocron before the Sith can.

((Finally, let's get this thing started shall we?))

Noama could still see the whole thing in his mind as vividly as if it had happened moments ago. But the incident had not happened moments ago. He was not standing inside of a holographic bubble which depicted a great diorama of the galaxy around him, specifying 7 stars more vividly than the others by making them blink. He was not standing in the dust covered archives of the Sith Academy on Korriban. His robes were not drenched in the manufactured teal blood of an eviscerated Sith Crawler Droid. Rather, he was standing in his temple robes, a white tunic, loose white pants and an open front long brown linen robe. He was a youthful man, his face still soft with the untainted memories of childhood. His eyes were sparkling blue, and while there was youth they eyes were thin with focus and anger. His hair was soft, red and wavy.

He was standing in the middle of a large circular room. All around the perimeter of the room was twelve plush chairs, upon each sat either a wise elder of a different species, or a hologram of such an elder. This was the Jedi Council. Behind each seat was a tall window, through which Coruscant was plainly visible at dusk, full of it's own comings and goings, thousands of hovering cars flying by. Directly in front of Noama was a very old Bothan male. He was dressed in a long, ornate Jedi robe, and the beard at the end of his snout was long and braided. This was Jedi Master Utric Hudorra, the most senior and wisest member of the Jedi Council. To his left was a small bird-like creature, dressed in clothing appropriate to the Mrlssi species. Finally, on his right was a tall, older Zabrakian. Like Noama he was dressed in temple robes. His hair was long and black, parts of it braided. While the rest of the council watched Noama in silent appraisal, Master Especi Koth was watching his adopted son with great sadness in his eyes.

As they watched, Noama finally spoke, "Master Hudorra, I already told you, Linora had nothing to do with the mission failure. It was entirely my own error, I should have waited and been more careful with the Holocron. If anyone is to be punished, it should be me, leave her out of this." Though his eyes showed that he was desperate, his body language seemed to claim that he was trying very hard to remain calm.

Utric responded with a sigh before saying, "If that is what you wish Noama, than the council will accept it. Master Especi, do you concur? How about you Master Pagda?" He said as he looked to Especi on his right and the Mrlssi on the left.

Pagda nodded and from his beak came a high pitched voice as the little bird-like humanoid spoke, "I agree Master Utric. If Noama wishes for all the blame to be on his shoulders, then that is his prerogative."

Especi however said nothing, simply nodded as he observed his adopted son and listened to what Utric had to say next.

Utric nodded and turned to Noama saying, "Noama Koth, this is the eighth time since you became a Jedi Knight 7 months ago that a critical mission was compromised or even failed because of your error, inaction or inability to control your emotions. Normally, this would mean that we were in our own error and must demote you back to Padawan. But in your case, due to the critical nature of the mission to retrieve Qel'Droma's Holocron, I propose that we exile you from this Jedi Order until such a time that we feel you are ready to resume your role as protector in the galaxy." There was no happiness in his voice as he cast this verdict, watching Noama through troubled eyes, the Bothan Jedi spoke once more, "You are allowed to take your lightsaber with you, after all, it is your possession and these are dangerous times. Should the situation arise that you are ready once more to return to our ranks, we shall find you. Good luck Noama, and farewell." With that, he fell silent.

Noama said nothing, instead, he turned on his heels, and strode towards the exit to the chamber, removing and dropping his brown robe to the floor as a symbol of losing his rank as Jedi. As he left the Temple, taking nothing but his lightsaber, and some clothes in a bag, he didn't even stop to say goodbye to his partner and best friend, the Miraluka Jedi Knight, Linora Varik, with whom he had spent most of his adult life. It was too painful to say goodbye. And so, he simply left.

It would only be later that the Jedi Council would realize that the information stored in the Holocron had not been lost, it had merely been divided and literally downloaded into Linora and Noama's minds. The clues to the Dark Reaper still existed, and the only way either set of information would be useful is if Linora and Noama were not separated. In the war against the Sith, this had been the Jedi Council's most grievous error. One which would take 3 years to rectify.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
3 Years Later
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It was known as the Liberator, and it was a Spire-Class Warship. With a crew of 700, and yet small enough to be quick and agile in combat, it was the staple of the Republic fleets in the war against the Sith. Used for anything from front line duty to blockade running, it was one of the most adaptable crafts ever built. Currently, the Liberator was under the command of Jedi Knight Linora Varik, and her crew had a single mission: Locate Jedi Exile Noama Koth, and bring him back to the Jedi Order. It had been 3 years since this mission had begun and finally, they were on the verge of achieving the goal.

It had taken some serious digging and a lot of footwork, including tracing back Noama's origins all the way back to Nar Shadaa, the Hutt controlled Smuggler's Moon. From there, they were able to locate where Noama made port the most, the isolated neutral world of Utapau. The world was located in the Outer Rim Territories, and was the only full fledged world in the system. Orbited by 9 moons the arid surface of Utapau was dotted with hundreds of extremely deep sinkholes. At the bottom of each of these sinkholes was a world encompassing ocean.

Due to the arid climate of the planet's surface, the world's two intelligent species, the diminutive Utai species and the tall and bureaucratic Pau'an's have been forced to build their settlements around the walls of the sinkholes and by the underground sea, leading them to have pale, gray skin. The two races have built a utopian society together, the Pau'an's, who are more tuned towards politics have become the leaders, while the Utai, who are more built for heavy lifting and are perfectly happy with their station have become the warriors and manual laborers.

This was where Noama made his home, if you could call this place home. Since leaving the Jedi Order, he had taken the role of Smuggler and Gun Runner, selling weapons to both the Republic and sometimes even the Sith. Despite this, the Jedi have decided that should Noama come back willingly, they will give him a full pardon. The soldiers of the Republic however, are not so quick to forgive, many of the crew of the Liberator were already planning on how they would haze and torment the fallen Jedi.

On the main deck of the star ship, a large room at the very front of the ship, the walls lined with computers and an elevated platform in the center, there stood a Jedi by the front window, the large planet of Utapau directly ahead. Behind her stepped up a young human man, dressed in a red and yellow jumpsuit, with little golden pins indicating his rank of Petty Officer. Saluting as he came to a stop behind her he spoke, "Ma'am, scouts have descended to the planet and have reported that the ship our intel says that Noama uses is docked in the capital city of Dogundra. We have contacted the local authorities and they are awaiting you. Shall I have a shuttle prepared?" He kept his brown hair short and neat, and his uniform perfectly clean, clearly just a good soldier.

((I would appreciate it Idle and Aco if you could be onboard the Liberator as well, keeping everyone together would be easier than separating them across the galaxy.))

She never slept when they committed a mistake while in a mission, instead she lay awake, listening to the gentle, unobtrusive noises of the ship. She could hear the others, whispering cautiously outside the door, the rustle of fabric as they went to bed, trying to be silent to the best of their abilities as to not to wake her. She could hear them in the main hold, their pointless arguments regarding memory wipes and blaster techniques, as well as the clashing of tin against metal whilst they enjoyed a questionable dinner. Every once in a while, in the dead of the night, she would hear them walk down the halls in patrol--always a pair of footsteps, often being dragged. And as she lay in the silence, she could hear the faint hum of hyperdrive late at night between the whirs and beeps of the general diagnostic runs.

Her breathing, her heartbeat, roared smoothly within her chest, lulling her, and invigorating her all the same. She could taste the serenity, the deep calmness that could only be found in space, and knew that somewhere, in all its vastness, an answer to their predicament could be achieved. She stirred; her lips quivered and her breathing quickened. She sat up on the excuse of a bed, legs dangling close to the floor. Her skin was so exposed and pale, hiding nothing from the world despite her usual modesty.

Her grip tightened on the shelf and her expression grew taut. “Why is it, why didn’t he—“ The voice that grew quiet when angry or tired ringing in her throat. She shifted her leg, pulled her robes violently from the shelf and lost her finger on her hair. She swore softly. “He was—“ she frowned slightly and shook her head—only got angrier. Suddenly, her voice became a whisper, a hiss, a mere echo of her internal frustration. “Dammit.”

The mistake had cost them—had cost him—everything. Outside her room Linora headed, and towards the main deck of the starship the Miraluka made her way, where she would remain, as an unwavering guard, for the rest of the journey.

”The Past Cannot be Escaped”
That had been the first and only day Linora felt powerless—blind, a complete failure. Noama, in all his innocence and pride had trusted her and her abilities, allowing her to act as she saw fit—how she believed the best solution could be achieved. Yet, it was her decisions, as carefully planned as they had been, that had led to their failure. In an instant, the trust within the Jedi order they had worked so hard to harvest had vanished, disappeared all-together, and had, instead, given way to emptiness and pain.

She lost it all.

For three years she had wondered what she could have done differently, what she could have said to prevent this pain, this misery from ensuring, but the answer she found was devastating in its own—there was nothing she could have done to protect him.

She winced and flinched as if the memories had been slapped across her face. She shuddered and looked away, folding her arms across her chest. She felt wounded then. She reached up to her head and pressed her fingers against her forehead—the fingers were cold, almost felt as if they scalded her. She pivoted her head away, a weary voice breaking through the silence of her head.
