Updated Rules and Information
Did we miss something? Did we leave something out in the rules? This section is for any mistakes or loopholes that are found by RPers during the RP. If we forgot to cover something in the rules then we will update where it needs to be updated and here so that you can laugh as us for our mistakes for years to come
- The rules for Jeff the Traveling Wanderer have been updated. Please see the Bonus Encounters section below.
- A new section has been added regarding factions in the RP.
- Pokeblock, Ball Capsules, and seals have been added to the items section.
- A new section for Pokemon Contests has been added to the guide. (This section has been completely redesigned as of 01/24/2014. I am sorry that the introduction of this system delayed the RP for so long until a better solution could be found)
- A new section is currently under works for battle mechanics, including: Time Battles, Double Battles, how to standard battle of course, and even a few extras will be added on once the storyline progresses further. Sorry no spoilers. But the new battle section should be up hopefully soon.

Current Plot Line
Curious to know what is the big news for our characters in the RP? Then you can always look here to find the most up to date twist in the main plot line.
Our trainers have reached Oreburgh City and are competing for their first badges. Some have had some beginners luck while others are struggling along.
There is a new mysterious face however, as an old hag as been seen with a stand set up between the gym and Pokemon Center. She promises enlightenment and harmony with legendary Pokemon. Will you join the Followers of the Way? Who is she and what ever happened to that mysterious Valkyrie character?
There are currently no answers to these questions, so in the mean time nothing can be done except to continue on your adventures. But it might be wise to look out for more of these individuals in the future.
---
New trainers are beginning their adventures while most of the older members have made a side trip to Alamos Town discovering many things. The location is definetely a learning experience for the trainers but no plot twists for the many storyline have been uncovered at this time

NPC List
This is a list of all the NPCs, or non player characters, or any character who is created that is not the main character of the RPer. There are lots of different kinds of NPCs. Some are family members of your character, some are rivals, some are Pokemon Researchers, others are nurses or police, restaurant owners or mail men but mainly they all fall into two groups. All NPCs are either public or private.
Public NPCs are those that can be controlled and interacted with by anyone in the RP. Professor Rowan for example is a public NPC who you can make do anything you think the Professor would, should, or could do. An example of a private NPC would be somebody's family or rival. A private NPC you can do nothing with unless you own that NPC. You own any NPC that you make up yourself. To interact with someone's private NPC you must PM them to ask permission first.
If you give somebody temporary permission to use your private NPC please let a Mod know right away so we don't have to come ask you ourselves. Additionally, if you want you can PM any Mod to have your private NPC changed to public status in which case anyone is free to interact with that NPC as they wish.
Here is the list of Public NPCs.
Professor Rowan - Hands out starter Pokemon to trainers in Sandgem Town. Nurse Joy - Nurse Joy run the PokeCenters. Officer Jenny - Officer Jenny is a police officer. Consultant Janelle - Works at the registration counters for Contests. PokeMart Staff - There is always a hired cashier & store owner to every PokeMart. "Jim Gai" - The gym caretaker, ready to offer tactical advice to novice Trainers. Roark - Gym Leader from Oreburgh City - specializes in rock pokemon. Gardenia - Gym Leader from Eterna City - specializes in grass pokemon. Maylene - Gym Leader from Velistone Town - specializes in fighting pokemon. Crasher Wake - Gym Leader from Pastoria City - specializes in water pokemon. Fantina - Gym Leader from Hearthome City - specializes in ghost pokemon. Bryon - Gym Leader from Canalave City - specializes in steel pokemon. Candice - Gym Leader from Snowpoint City - specializes in ice pokemon. Volkner - Gym Leader from Sunyshore City - specializes in electric pokemon. Jeff the Traveling Wanderer - Special event NPC. Mr. Move Tutor - The move tutor and move relearner, found in Canalave City.

Suggested Pokemon Encounters
This list does not apply to the Pokemon you get from Professor Rowan. Please see the Pokemon of the RP thread for more information.
Use this as guidelines for finding and/or catching pokemon. While it's fine if you see a pokemon earlier than listed, please please please avoid catching the pokemon until the right badge level. I arranged this list so that the RP remain fair and that god-moding is not used. Do note that, you can catch pokemon earlier than listed as long as you PM me with a very good reason. Nothing like catching a Spiritomb with no badges will be accepted though. Just remember to use your common sense and patience when catching pokemon.
Note: Most evolved pokemon are not included in the catch list. Use common sense when catching evolved pokemon. Please avoid catching third evolution pokemon at all - just evolve your pokemon up to get third evolutions.
---{Key}--- - (S=#) : Means they are found only in a swarm. The # represents about how many pokemon should be in the swarm not counting that pokemon. The only way to catch one is to remember that the others will be trying to stop you. You have to fight them all at once, not individually. If the pokemon in the swarm has a higher evolution, the swarm will consist of the next evolution up. If the pokemon that would be surrounded by a swarm is a final evolution, the swarm will be of that pokemon. In other words, if you look down you will see that 1 Dratini is protected by 15 Dragonair and 1 Gyardados is protected by 7 other Gyarados.
- * : Means these pokemon are extremely hard to find and/or chase down and/or defeat in a battle to catch. Do not just waltz up to them, use a Caterpie, throw a pokeball, and have them caught. You need to work for it and really convince this forum's GMs that you earned that pokemon. Also, try to avoid going after one of these unless you really want that pokemon. If you aren't obsessed with one of these pokemon please leave them alone for someone else who is. We would like to not have any doubles of these. If someone already has one of these you can still go after another one if it means that much to you

Unsanctioned Gym Leaders There are only eight actual gyms sanctioned by the Pokemon League as official gyms but that doesn't mean there aren't other people in the world who have their own battle arena and wish they were actual gym leaders (i.e. Session 1 episode 8, Ash finds an unsanctioned gym leader with a Sandshrew). These false gym leaders should still specialize in a certain type, have about 2-3 Pokemon, and be just as strong if not stronger than actual gym leaders since they are working to become a real thing.
****** N O T E ****** When you beat a Gym Leader they do not give you a TM themselves to go along with your badge. From prize money or whatnot, you simply earn enough to have a free purchase of a single TM. See the Items in the RP section of this guide for details.

Quick Recap
Been gone for awhile? Feel like you missed something? Well don't worry because you can always look here to get a brief overview of what has happened during the entire RP. Anything that means anything will find itself with a brief note about it here so that it can be easy look back over what has happened. While this is a convenience, don't forget that reading everyone's actual posts is half the fun too.
-While Victoria originally lost the the gym leader, she later met up with Cal who inspired her to try again. After obtaining her Coal Badge at the second attempt, she saw a flier to be a Pokemon Coordinator and decided to head to Alamos town. She joined the Followers of the Way. After an embarrassing incident with Cal in a cave, they shared a room upon reaching Alamos town. The next morning she submitted Ekans to the Tough competition.
-Cerebus traveled down an unknown trail after winning his Coal Badge. It led him to Alamos Town. Cerebus adamantly declined to the Followers of the Way.
-Cal meet with Victoria in Oreburgh Mine and they became traveling companions. He decided not to challenge the gym leader. Tensions were raised between them during an incident in a cave and they shared a room together once reaching Alamos town. He expressed interest but turned down the Followers of the way.
-Almus won a victory against his rival in Oreburgh before also winning his first badge. He adamantly declined to the Followers of the Way. Almus traveled to Alamos town, meeting Cerebus for the first time. He also watched an exhibitional challenge at the gym. The next morning he submited Scyther to a cool competition.
-Jorgevy returned to Oreburgh City just in time to witness an out of control Pokemon rampaging through town. This led him to meet an unnamed girl and a boy named Josh Parker. After that he met the Followers of the Way but turned down their offer. Finally he reached the Oreburgh Museum and was told he could join the International Pokemon Archaeological Society faction if he got an Oreburgh Badge.
Timothy decided to lend a helping hand and joined the construction crew in Jublife City to help clean up after the disaster.
Nephele started her journey, adopting the overlooked Ralts for being a psychic pokemon with poor psychic prowess. She and her pokemon because very attached at first sight of each other though. She named him Gareth after a fabled knight in a romantic hystorical tale.

Bonus Encounters
Let us not forget that the main reason to leave home with your Pokemon in the first place is to have an adventure. It is not about your destination or getting from Gym to Gym before the Pokemon League. The adventure really happens along the road where you find strange and weird things that you didn't expect. This section is made to help boost your creative potential and give you ideas for possible things you can find during your travels.
Please keep in mind that in an effort to make the RP last longer, every single one of these Bonus Encounters should last at least one full RP day.
Jobs! This is by far the most important and frequent thing you should stumble upon. Just like in the anime, you and your Pokemon all get hungry and need to eat three healthy meals a day. Food, like everything else, isn't free. You have to pay to eat, pay to get carry on medicine for your Pokemon, pay to ride a ship or ferry, you have to pay for all sorts of things. Therefore, you will occasionally need to do odd jobs for people as you find the opportunity. Jobs could be something like helping to load a ship, helping take care of sick Pokemon, helping a traveling movie director with a film, helping an archeologist dig up rubble, helping to catch criminals, helping criminals with a job... the possibilities are endless. While we don't keep track of how much money we have with us, just think of one job as enough to buy any one medicine or TM item, a refresh of any used poke balls, and enough food and water to feed yourself and your Pokemon for a day or two. Unsanctioned Gym LeadersThere are only eight actual gyms sanctioned by the Pokemon League as official gyms but that doesn't mean there aren't other people in the world who have their own battle arena and wish they were actual gym leaders (i.e. Session 1 episode 8, Ash finds an unsanctioned gym leader with a Sandshrew). These false gym leaders should still specialize in a certain type, have about 2-3 Pokemon, and be just as strong if not stronger than actual gym leaders since they are working to become a real one. Poke Education CentersThere are schools everywhere but more importantly there are private universities everywhere that could make for an interesting pit stop. You might want to stumble across one of these to learn a few new tricks and maybe pick a fight to lose against one of the students there lol. One of these schools can be seen in the anime in Session 1 Episode 9. The Pokemon Technical Institute. Poke Archeology Centers and DigsSimilar to a university, there are large buildings full of scientists who study nothing but fossils and ancient Pokemon. There should be a lot of neat things to look at, interesting people to talk to, maybe a few jobs available, and maybe about one person who owns an already revived ancient Pokemon themselves that you can battle with. Alternatively, you could stumble upon a team of scientists trying to dig up fossils in a cave or rocky path. There would definitely be some jobs available there if you could fast talk your way into the team. Enjoy the SceneryThe planet can be a beautiful or horrible place. Nature gives you lots of possible random encounters. You could find a hidden little stream with mushrooms growing behind some thick trees. That could heal you and any only mildly injured Pokemon as well as giving you and your Pokemon a free meal and drink without having to pay for it. Also, you could stray off the road and get lost in a barren wasteland that is dangerous and painful to travel. You could be walking around there lost, starving and alone. If you find yourself in a wasteland though please make it last several days of traveling as those should not be easy to come by. Ain't Karma Something? In life we have choices. Some choices we make are good and some choices we make are bad. This leads us down usually either the path of the hero or the villain. While some people try to play both sides and others are afraid of choices everyone usually picks a side in the end. Are you an evil doer? If so you are likely to run into a pursuing officer Jenny or vigilante a lot. Are you a hero? In that case you are bound to be attacked by criminals seeking revenge for earlier encounters. Town In DevelopmentMaybe you could stumble across a tiny little town. Something even smaller than Twinleaf that isn't even on the map. Or maybe there are a group of people trying to build a new town. Will you help them build a respectable place? Will you tell team rocket, etc so they can make it a criminal town getaway? Will you scare everyone away yourself to make it you own private retreat? It's up to you! Jeff the Traveling WandererThis is a very unique event to find. Jeff can only be found when an admn announces in the RP that the Jeff the Traveling Wanderer event is active. Even then you only have a chance of encountering him. While this event is active, everyone wanting to participate must check the events thread here, and write a post guessing a number one through five. Once the event opening ends, the thread will be relocked and the correct answer will be given via a random number generator. If nobody get's it right then everybody get's a second try and get's to pick two numbers instead of one. After that the event is over whether or not anybody won. If you guessed right then you are allowed to meet Jeff the Traveling Wanderer. Jeff is a collector of rare and obscure Pokemon, items, and artifacts. If you encounter Jeff then you can negotiate for many different things. -One of any shinny Pokemon that you can find up to one badge level above your current badge. Getting a shinny Pokemon from Jeff doesn't take up one of the two shinny Pokemon you can catch. This means if you find Jeff, you can have up to three shinny Pokemon instead of just two. Remember though that you can only get a shinny Pokemon from Jeff once. If there is a Pokemon you want to get from him and it is more than one badge level above your own, then you might want to wait before choosing this. -Jeff's magic box of Poke-Care products. This box is filled with vials of a special formula that instantly heals any wound or status affect. Also, there are so many vials and it only takes so little amount of the formula that one box is good to last you forever! It only works on Pokemon and can only be used out of battle. Basically, you never need a Pokemon Center again. -A very old looking egg. Jeff found this fossilized egg on his travels and has already had it revived for you at a research center. However, it has since started moving as if it would hatch soon and it makes Jeff nervous. He would be happy to get rid of it by giving it to you. You get to choose whatever ancient Pokemon it becomes. -A complete poke ball set. Ten poke balls, five great balls, and one of all of the following: Dive, Fast, Heavy, Lure, Luxury, Net, Premium, Ultra. and Master ball. Please keep in mind that legendary Pokemon are able to attack and destroy any type of poke ball thrown at it before the ball reaches them. Don't waste it. -Evolving items such as stones, metal coats, as well as unique holding items like elemental plates or any choice of berries. Etc. -A set of rare Pokeblock which gives very special effects.
These are currently what you can get from Jeff the Traveling Wanderer. More may or may not be added without notice. If you encounter Jeff you may only pick one of these to receive from him.

Items in the RP
Item use in this RP is done very differently than in the Pokemon games. This refers to all items such as potions, bicycles, TMs, hold items, etc.
-Healing Items Items such as potions can be used to heal Pokemon but this can only be done out of battle. A Pokemon is allowed to carry one small item such as a berry, in their mouth behind their jaw, but this is a technique that must be taught to the Pokemon if used.
-Backpack Items You can only carry as many items in your backpack as makes sense. Please carry no more than a dozen poke balls and half a dozen healing medicine at a time. Items like bicycles cannot be put inside of a backpack but items like maps etc can. The rest of your backpack is used for essentials like clothes and food and sleeping gear, etc.
-Pokéblock Pokéblock are colorful candy blocks made for Pokémon and are primarily used to increase a Pokémon's condition in one of five areas: Cool, Beauty, Cute, Smart, and/or Tough, for Pokémon Contests. Pokéblocks are used to prepare a Pokémon for Pokémon Contests by raising its condition in the category it will participate in. Pokéblock are normally made from berries collected throughout the regions and made/stored in a Pokéblock, however, this RP is not including the hassle of berries so Pokéblock will be dealt with a little differently. Pokéblock is not made by Coordinators but instead is available for sale at any contest hall. Contest Halls now harvest berries and create the Pokéblock themselves so that Coordinators can focus more on actually training their Pokémon. The Pokéblock is then up for sale on the scale seen below. Red PokéBlock. A spicy Pokéblock that raises Coolness. Costs one job payment. Blue PokéBlock. A dry Pokéblock that raises Beauty. Costs one job payment. Pink PokéBlock. A sweet Pokéblock that which raises Cuteness. Costs one job payment. Green PokéBlock. A bitter Pokéblock which raises Smartness. Costs one job payment. Yellow PokéBlock. A sour Pokéblock that raises Toughness. Costs one job payment. Purple PokéBlock. A mostly spicy Pokéblock that raises Coolness and another attribute. Costs two job payments. Indigo PokéBlock. A mostly dry Pokéblock which raises Beauty and another attribute.Costs two job payments. Brown PokéBlock. A mostly sweet Pokéblock that raises Cuteness and another attribute.Costs two job payments. LiteBlue PokéBlock. A mostly bitter Pokéblock which raises Smartness and another attribute. Costs two job payments. Olive PokéBlock. A mostly sour Pokéblock that raises Toughness and another attribute. Costs two job payments. Each Coordinator is only allowed to purchase one of the available Pokéblock per each Contest Hall to feed to their Pokemon just before a Contest. As a Pokémon eats PokéBlock, their appeal slowly increases in the targeted field of Cool, Beauty, Cute, Smart, and Tough according to a scale as follows. A Pokémon eating PokéBlock once gives your Pokemon one increase, eating two more gives the second increase, eating three more gives the third increase, four more the fourth increase, and finally five more gives the final fifth increase. Mathematically is is 1/1, 3/2, 6/3, 10/4, 15/5
-Ball Capsules A Ball Capsule is a special item in Generation IV that can be attached to a Pokémon's Poké Ball to add special effects when the Pokémon is sent out in a battle or contest. Their appearance can be altered by adding Seals to their exteriors, creating the aforementioned special effects. Most seals can be purchased in the Sunyshore Market at Sunyshore City. Eight Seals can be attached to any Capsule at one time. Ball Capsules individually cost about as much as a basic potion.
-Seals Seals are small stickers that are able to be attached to Ball Capsules, which can in turn be attached to Poké Balls, to attain a special effect when a Pokémon comes out of them, instead of the usual flash of light. Seals are able to both change the color of a pokeball's light beam but also create dazzling shapes to appear when a Pokemon is release from its ball. The shapes created are dictated by the design on the sticker. Seals individually cost about as much as a basic potion.
-Pokemon Technology Over the generations there have been a lot of technical inventions created in the Pokemon world. However only three are going to be included in this RP. The Pokedex, the PokeGear, and the Poketch. The Pokedex is your already complete Pokemon encyclopedia. The PokeGear is your cell phone and can do anything any modern day cell phone can in real life. The Poketch is a watch you wear on your wrist but it has many different features. it is like a computer on your arm that covers almost any technical device that you could need.
-Pokeballs There are many different kinds of pokeballs in the poke-universe but not all of them will be included in this RP. The list of pokeballs that are available for you to recieve as as follows: Diveball- catches underwater pokemon, Fastball- catches pokemon who like to run away, Greatball- 50% higher catch rate than pokeball, Heavyball- catches heavy pokemon, Lureball- helps catch pokemon while fishing, Luxuryball- just a fancy pokeball that makes the pokemon happy, Netball- helps catch bug and water pokemon, Premium- just a fancy white pokeball, Safariball- used in Safari zones, and Ultraball- 100% higher catch rate than pokeball. Now, the rule for special pokeballs is that you cannot make them or have them made like in the games. All of these pokeballs can only be bought from a PokeMart. There will be other unique balls that you can only get from certain factions or from Jeff, but those take special circumstances in the RP to get.
-TMs & HMs First thing, there is no difference between a TM or HM in this RP. Now onto what they mean... In this RP, TM does not stand for Technical Machine like in the games. Here TM stands for Trainer Method, as in a Pokemon move that is taught to a Pokemon through a trainer's method of teaching. Therefore, TM's are not an item that you can just touch to your Pokemon and it learns a new move. You have to take the time to write out you teaching the Pokemon the TM. You can still buy TMs though. If you do not know what to do to teach a Pokemon a move it learns via TM then you can go to any PokeMart, passed Sandgem Town, and pay to have the store owner teach you how to teach Pokemon that move. If you buy a TM, you do not have to write out how you taught your Pokemon the move because you wrote how you bought it instead. Just add in after that you did teach the Pokemon the move but you won't have to say how. Everyone starts off being able to buy one TM. Additionally, you get to buy one more TM every time you defeat a Gym Leader. Gym Leaders do not give you TMs when you defeat them, they just give you what you need to afford another one of your choice. That means you can only buy a total of nine TMs for free. As for buying more TMs, your character would need to work in order to make enough money to buy one more per job. See the Bonus Encounters section for great ideas on jobs and more information on the matter. Also, please remember that buying a TM and just using your own TM are different things. Buying a TM means you have to write out buying it and you don't have to write out using it. Using a TM you didn't buy means you have to write out what you did to teach your Pokemon that move.
-Hold Items Items such as plates can be used like evolution stones by touching the Pokemon with it once to activate the effects and touching the Pokemon again to remove it.
Pokemon Incense are not held by the Pokemon. They are held by the trainer and the effects blow across the battle field to effect both Pokemon, not just the target. Incense are effected by weather.

Pokemon Abilities and Natures
-Pokemon Abilities: These are special skills or techniques that Pokemon are able to use. Some of them make attacks stronger, some of them allow Pokemon some sort of protection, and some of them are even activated by what the weather is like. Each Pokemon has an ability that suit's their race and type and some Pokemon even may have more than one. It is up to you to know your Pokemon and what abilities it does and does not have.
Pokemon abilities are used in this game but they have some rules that go along with them. First off, abilities are not automatic. You need to say when you have your Pokemon activate an ability. This is because not everyone might know what all the abilities of YOUR Pokemon are. Secondly, your Pokemon does not start out with it's ability. You must teach your Pokemon how to use it's ability for you. All Pokemon are born knowing how and when to use their abilities. However, you have to teach your Pokemon to be willing to use it's ability under your command. A Pokemon might be willing to automatically use attacks for you and loyally follow you around but to have a Pokemon use it's abilities for you takes a deeper level of training and loyalty.
-Pokemon Natures: Just like people, Pokemon have different inner natures that govern their personalities and how they emotionally react to situations. If a Pokemon is Hasty you might have a hard time teaching it a complex combination of moves because it won't wait for the right times to use it's moves. If a Pokemon is Modest, you won't see it jumping up and down after winning a battle.
Unlike in the games, a Pokemon's nature in this RP does not make it any stronger or weaker. It only effects it's personality. For example, if a Pokemon is brave, it's attack is no higher than normal but it would stand it's ground in the face of danger. Be wary of sassy Pokemon as they might have a bit of a temper and watch out for naughty Pokemon as they might try to pull dangerous tricks on you or people around you!
-Pokemon Immunities: -Dark vs Psychic- Dark type Pokemon are immune to all Psychic attacks except for Future Sight, Miracle Eye and Trick room. Psychic moves that only affect the user, such as Agility, still work in battles against Dark Pokemon and Zen Headbutt is reduced to normal Headbutt.
-Flying vs Ground- Flying Pokemon or those with Levitate are immune to physical ground type attacks only. Special ground type attacks and Boomerang still hit Flying and Levitating Pokemon.
-Electric vs Ground- Ground type Pokemon must be touching the ground to be immune to Electric attacks. If a Ground type is hit with an Electric attack and is not touching the ground, the Ground Pokemon receives the hit like a Normal type Pokemon.
-Ghost vs Normal/Fighting- Ghosts can hit Normal type Pokemon with Physical attack Ghost moves but not Special attack Ghost moves. Normal and Fighting Pokemon can hit Ghost Pokemon with Special attack moves but not Physical attack moves.
-Poison vs Steel- Steel Pokemon are immune to becoming Poisoned, however there are not immune to damage from Poison type attacks.
*The Metagross and Magnimite families are considered to have Levitate but Geodude does not.

Factions
Factions are the social, governmental, and criminal groups of the world. Here you can find out who is who, who wants what, and who has joined who? The factions can range from being dull jobs to being extremely plot related. Do you wish to unravel the mysteries of the world? Are you seeking a career in your life? Do you aspire to live life on the run? You can find it all here!
Pokemon Trainers Yes I mean that person you see when you look into a mirror! That's you! Well when you begin anyway. Every RPer starts off as a Pokemon Trainer. These people travel around the world in search of adventure. During these journeys trainers learn about the world, catch Pokemon to acquire body guards and friends on their journey, and battle with them in competitions which make both the Pokemon and trainer mature into who they are destined to be.
Pokemon Coordinators Do you have a flare for style? Are training Pokemon normal moves just not enough for you? Are you eager for even more challenge than the Pokemon gyms or league can give you? Then maybe you have the makings of a Pokemon Coordinator. A Pokémon Coordinator is someone who raises Pokémon to compete in Pokémon Contests. They raise their Pokémon much like Pokémon Trainers do, although with much more emphasis on beauty and appearances since they are major factors when it comes to points in Contests. They need to train their Pokémon to have beautiful moves, and be able to do well in battles, as a battle tournament is the second round of a Contest.
Pokemon League Champions This is an elite circle of people who have come out victorious in any elite competition, with the requirement of collecting gym badges, of any region. They approach you. You cannot find them.
Pokemon Millionaire Club Have you found yourself to be filthy rich? Well then join this very exclusive faction open only to the most wealthy of individuals. Led by Madam Esquete, she showers her members in perks that only money can buy. You do not have to be a contender but you must be present at a Pokemon League competition for this faction to take notice of you.
The International Police Force No you aren't Officer Jenny but if you are a girl you do get her cute little outfit should you want it. The police forces of each town are a busy place full of filling reports and securing criminals. Even with as many officers as they have, there just isn't enough man power to perform road side patrols from city to city. This is where you come in as an under cover police agent. -Warning- To be in this faction, you are not allowed to be in any other faction below this one. This faction presents you with LOTS of random encounters. In every town there is at least one lowly pick pocket to battle and arrest. On every route there is at least one Pokemon thief to battle and arrest. Whenever a criminal faction appears it is your duty to confront them. However, sometimes criminals get away. A perk of this is that every members is given a free newly born Growlithe. Another perk is that for every criminal you bring in, you are awarded a job's full pay. You can sign up at any Police Station
The International Pokemon Health Care Association Other wise known as Pokemon doctors and nurses. No you cannot morph yourself into a Nurse Joy and no you cannot put on a Nurse Joy costume. However, there are many other people who work behind the scenes for the Pokemon Centers. -Warning- If you take up the life as a medical associate you cannot be a criminal and you are no longer a Pokemon Trainer. Instead of traveling the world to collecting gym badges you travel the world to learn new techniques of healing. You can still catch and train Pokemon but you do not compete in gym battles because that would be unbecoming of someone who aspires to heal. Instead you go from town to town to visit Pokemon Centers and your challenge is to heal Pokemon there. Pokemon might be scared and defensive while in a hospital or be too injured to know who not to attack. Therefore, you must battle Pokemon using moves that do not injure only. In each town you must heal the gym leader's Pokemon plus any other two you can think of. If a town has no gym you only need to heal two Pokemon. At the end of it all you get to heal Pokemon at the Pokemon League, etc. This quest begins in Jubilife, ignoring Twinleaf and Sandgem. Remember, sometimes to be defeated. A perk of this is that every member is given a free newly born Chansey. Another perk is that every time you succeed in healing all the Pokemon of a Poke Center, you are awarded a job's full pay. You can sign up at any Pokemon Center but must surrender any badges you own.
International Pokemon Archeology Society This is an organization owned and funded by the Devon Cooperation. Devon is a large company based in Rustboro City that manufacturers products geared towards Pokémon training. One of these products is the Pokémon Producer, which this machine allows to bring a extinct Pokémon back to life. Members of this faction are dedicated to the collection of Pokemon fossils and their revival. During your adventures, if you come across a likely place to find Pokemon fossils, you can mine for one in exchange for one full day of your adventure dedicated to the mining. You do not necessarily get the Pokemon of the fossil you recovered but you can trade in a fossil to any Devon Coorp location in exchange for enough money to cover three days of food, supplies, and one TM, plus reputation in Devon. Devon Coorp locations can be found in the Oreburgh Mining Museum, Eterna Museum, Celestic Town Historical Research Center, Rustboro City, Ruins of Alph, Pewter Museum of Science and Cinnabar Island.
Members of the Performing Arts Do you have a taste for beauty and theater? Does the heart of an artist beat through your chest? Or are you just desperate enough for money to show a little public humiliation for cash? Then the performing arts might be for you. You can perform in a play, or maybe take up a hobby of selling your paintings for the rest of your adventure. There is always becoming a juggler of course, which can earn you some tips from either being skilled or comically bad. This is not a faction that you 'join' so much as it is just a lifestyle for you to choose for yourselves should you find the need. Just make sure you account for time in your adventure and also the cost of any materials you might need. Sometimes you need to spend money to make money.
Team Rocket World Domination through powerful Pokemon! Cheesy motto's and theme songs! The back up of an international criminal organization! What more could you ask for? Battle other RPers and if you win you get to take their money and run! Attack Pokemon Centers, parties, festivals, etc. Battle npc Pokemon trainers and if you win you get to steal a single Pokemon to turn it in to your boss. Make your boss like you enough and you might be promoted (by the forum OoC Mod) to the exclusive Rocket Elite. -Warning- You are attacked by police soon after every criminal act you do. If you lose, you get arrested for two RP days. A perk of Team Rocket is every four days you aren't arrested you receive one job's worth of pay and any one non shinny Pokemon that is two badge levels or more below your current badge. There are two ways to join. Every criminal organization will eventually give invitations to all in the main plot line. The faster way is to find a Team Rocket grunt who is cornered by Police and help them escape. This makes you a wanted criminal as well and the grunt leads you to the local Rocket hideout for enrollment.
The Followers of the Way This is a very secretive and mysterious group. They preach about peace and happiness and equality between man and Pokemon, power, success and glory. Their ideology is that they are close to legendary Pokemon, serving the needs of those rare beasts for some unknown sort of blessings in return. They offer promise that you too can be close to legendary Pokemon if you follow their path to enlightenment. If you are willing to follow their 'way' then there are many perks to this faction. Everyone who joins will receive an initial free Pokemon in a Luxuryball as well as one day's worth of food money. The Pokemon that can be received are Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Turtwig, Chimchar, or Piplup. Every Follower of the Way Officer you encounter afterward will give you your choice of pokeball that is not an Ultra or Masterball, any one poke-medicine, or any Pokemon that is at least three badge levels under your current badge. You also receive another full day's worth of food money to go with whatever you decide to take. There is one Follower of the Way Officer in every town with a gym and you can only get rewards from each officer once.
There are many many more factions in the world that have yet to be uncovered. Keep the RP going and soon we will find them all!

Pokémon Ribbon ContestThe Pokemon Contests are a unique competition to show off not just a Pokémon's potential power but also their beauty and grace. Pokémon compete in efforts of style and skill as well as the force of their attacks. Pokémon are judged on their condition and moves in two rounds, to determine which is the best of its category. The categorys for any contest fall into either Cool, Beauty, Cute, Smart, or Tough. During the appeal, the judges score the Coordinator and those with the highest scores proceed to the next round. A Contest is divided into two parts, the Appeals Round and the Performance Round. The first round involves the Coordinator appealing with his or her Pokémon to demonstrate its initial presence for the competition. First, the audience preliminarily votes on which competing Pokémon looks the coolest, most beautiful, cutest, smartest, or toughest, depending on what category the Contest is in. To make a Pokémon look cooler, etc., a Coordinator prepares Pokéblocks of a specific color from certain Berries, depending which category he or she wants to augment, and feeds them to his or her Pokémon. In the secondary phase, the Pokémon take turns appealing, using certain moves in front of an appointed judge. Every move that a Pokémon can learn is in one of the five contest categories Cool, Beauty, Cute, Smart, or Tough. Additionally, Move combos (e.g. using Sunny Day one round, then SolarBeam the next) score extra points. Ball Capsules and seals may also used by Coordinators when sending out their Pokémon. This allows Coordinators to show off their creativity, as well as their Pokémon, when they are sent out. The second round is the Battle Round, where two Coordinators must do battle while still remaining stylish. The battle ends after five minutes have passed, a Pokémon is unable to battle, or a Coordinator has lost all of his or her ten starting points. Pokémon Coordinators may lose a single point each time their Pokémon is damaged, misses/fails with a move, is made to flinch, or is knocked off its stance from an opponent's move. Additionally, penalties are a possibility to happen and contestants can be disqualified upon being found cheating, being issued a second yellow card, or presumably being issued a red card. A Sudden Death occurs when at the end of the five minute time limit both Coordinators have equal points, in which case the match turns to a "first to hit victory" match with no time limit. Detailed BreakdownThe first half of the Contest is a two part section. The first part is the audience's visual appeal to your Pokemon. To increase this Coordinators need to feed their Pokemon PokéBlock which is a combination of the right mixed berries together. PokéBlock can be made only at Contest halls, one PokéBlock per hall, and can only be fed to a Pokémon just before a Contest match. Mathematically is is 1/1, 3/2, 6/3, 10/4, 15/5. So on a zero to five scale, whichever Pokémon has the highest rating wins the visual contest and also receives a single bonus point for the Performance Round. If Pokemon have no/equal PokéBlock levels then the Pokemon are rated by Weight for Tough and Cool, while Height for Beauty, Cute and Smart. If more than four Coordinators are attempting to enter the same contest then the top four Coordinators of the visual section proceed onto the Performance Round. The second part of the competition is the Performance Round, or the battle section. This is where Coordinators compete with each other in a match to impress a panel of Judges for the best score. Pokemon use their moves to perform an impressive display for the judges. The initial lineup of who goes first is determined by the results of the visual section in the beginning of the appeals. Every move falls into either Cool, Beauty, Cute, Smart, or Tough. Successfully using a move of the same contest type you are competing in will deduct a single point from your targeted opponent. But using a move of a different contest type will not cause any point deductions even if it is a successful hit. It can still bring you closer to victory though if you can KO your opponents Pokemon. Furthermore, using the same move two times in a row will not only stop you from affecting your opponents point score but it can also lead to a penalty towards yourself. Immediately repeating the same move of the specified contest type will result in no point changes while repeating the same move of a different contest type will penalize you one of your own points. ---------------------------- Bonus Notes: -The use of a Ball Capsule with a seal bestows a plus 1 point to the visual appeal of a Pokemon, as if it had a bonus PokeBlock point. However, all ball capsules and seals are equal to each other in this effect. -The time limit is not a hard rule. This means it is not necessary to keep track of how much time goes by during the battling. Contests are just meant to be kept short. So if a battle is taking too long then please just cut it off under the excuse that time ran out. -During the battle round it is possible to preform a combo move to actually regain a single lost point if the maneuver is successful. See link posted above for combos. -Move effects that are said to influence the audience or judges etc. are not relevant in this RP. Video game rules for contests don't carry over to this RP. -Remember that not everyone has to be in the same contest. There are five different contest types to choose from. You might be in the Beauty contest while another RPer is in a Tough contest. That means you aren't interacting with them. Coordinators only compete with those within their own contest type. -IMPORTANT! - When using a different type of move than the contest you are in, example a Cool move in a Cute contest, there is a penalty to the points you can cause or possibly receive. As shown below, using some moves from other contest types will fail in lowering your opponents scores while using other very wrong contest type moves can lower your own score for using the wrong type of move. Here is a chart showing the effects. Beauty: Cute 0, Smart -1, Cool 0, Tough -1 Cute: Beauty 0, Smart 0, Cool -1, Tough -1 Smart: Beauty -1, Cute 0, Cool -1, Tough 0 Cool: Beauty 0, Cute -1, Smart -1, Tough 0 Tough: Beauty -1, Cute -1, Smart 0, Cool 0 Please remember to conduct your performances wisely. Most of all though just remember to have fun! Welcome to becoming a Pokemon Coordinator!
