Archaea-gaea is, more or less, Mars in the very distant past, and if you're into steampunk, most of that kind of plot lies here. However, it is not barren like it is now. There is a very red desert, and most of the dirt in Archaea-gaea is red because of the concentrated iron content, just like we know Mars today.
However, there are parts of Archaea-gaea that differ from its present day. There are several different biomes that are typical of a planet that sustains life. There are plants, animals, people, a decent atmosphere, etc.
Archaea-gaea does not rain too often, but most of the water necessary is excavated as groundwater. There is a long chain of rivers and streams along Archaea-gaea as well as occasional lakes.
Many plants in Archaea-gaea have adapted to little to no water. However, there is much vegetation that's leafy, green, and rainforesty in such areas. What determines this is mostly how fertile the soil is rather than the rainfall. Pretty much all of today's vegetables have some sort of existence in Archaea-gaea.
A notable plant, however, is Cilia. This plant is exactly what it sounds like---they are very similar to the small hairy things that allow most cells and bacteria to move. However, plant cilia is thick and can be orange, cyan, purple, and green. It is the equivalent of ordinary grass, only, it moves on its own accord. If you're sitting on it, it will most likely carry you somewhere. There are several fields of it, though Cilia is most typical in desert areas. Actual grass is in more humid areas, I promise.
Many of the typical animals you know live somewhere in Archaea-gaea. It's not entirely alien (:
Notable Areas
The Glahtmat: A dense rainforesty kind of place south of the Cydonian range. On the outskirts of Glahatmat lie several city states which often migrate to Glahtmat for water and food. The Glahtmat, however, belongs to the Native Aryans, and do not allow outsiders to tread very far in. Thusly, few civilizations live in it. Aryans are a wild, "uncivilized" blue eyed, blonde haired people.
Cydonian Range: A mountain valley with a desert at its center. Many city-states have built themselves in the dry, sandless desert to collect many of the minerals underground. Because of it, the city states there are very prosperous. Aside from mining jobs, it's well-known as a technologically advanced area. Many new inventions come from the Cydonian desert---among them airships and developing automatons. At the very edge of the Cydonian range, which sees over a large canyon, lies the namesake city state, Cydonia, which is a bustling trade area.
Olympus Mons: An extremely tall mountain that is believed to be the home of the Gods. Many people go there and hope to catch a glimpse of at least one god. Little do they know that the Aeolus Republic set up camp and have been living inside the icy mountain for about two decades. It is currently their base of operations for their invading army.
THe inside of Olympus mons is a series of complex caverns that the Auldelens have molded into a military base as well as the temporary home for the queen.
((Auldelen characters begin here. Neo-gaea will not be available until later))
**Other areas that you'd like to create can be posted here. Remember that Archaea-gaea does not have countries; rather, they have city states for protection.
Archaea-gaean city states, with the coming of the Auldelens, have definitely been on the defense. Several of these city states have domes above them for protection. As a side effect, it increases temperature in the city state. It is unpleasant, but it doesn't kill. It is extremely unpleasant in the desert, but air often pours in from them so it's okay (:

The Saga (for Elens, anyway) takes place in the Cydonian range. Though all the city states are independent, they have united for one thing: warding off the Auldelens.
*Istence: The most technological of the city states, as well as the most prosperous aside from Cydonia. They've gotten quite a lot of rap for making and repairing Dirons, pretty much small airships for domestic use.
*Cydonia: A prosperous trade city state. It is awfully crowded and houses many cultures. Hides a lot of pirates, bandits, criminals, and Auldelens on occasion. Much crime and such.
*Pavonis: This city state has been gifted with several different types of metals, of which are still awaiting discovery. Home of the Auldelen resistance base, which researches ways to combat them.
*Holden: Moderately large city-state built around a natural lake. The close proximity to a large body of water has led the city state to be quite prosperous and most of the commerce is related to the water and the lake, including fishing since it's one of relatively few areas with a large enough body of water to cultivate fish. However there are strict laws regulating fishing and licenses are incredibly difficult to get. Fishing without one leads to incredibly hefty fines and even imprisonment.
Other city states would be great! 8D

I wanted to add a city state that Trevyn is from?
I was thinking something like this:

Sure, that sounds fine :3 I'll edit it into the list of city-states.
