As I mentioned in my announcement, we need seven more completed profiles before we can start this beast. I'm expecting one more to be completed soon, but I need your help and enthusiasm to figure out where to pull the rest from.

Well, certainly the writing forums...what about the RP ones? It's close enough, I think, and a ton of people are familiar with the tournament-style games, thanks to dA.
Also, the above comment makes no sense. ><

You need a writing sample, Broken. You know, a short story about how they got there etc? Write it the way you'll be writing your tournament things or something.

You need a writing sample too. A small story or something that shows everyone what your writing style is like, and what we'll be competing against. You know, what all happened to your character to put them here.

Well, you should first edit it for grammer and spelling, then add more to it. Longer is nicer, because that way we can get a good feel to who we're up against.

Brief Background:a bounty hunter He dislikes hassles. adopted buy the mizuhara family when he was two he was trained in their sword arts. At the age of fifteen, he challenged daisis the master of the dojo to a duel but lost due to lack of experience. amused by the youth's bravado, brought Kayin to the wind school so that he may gain proper training. Whilst living there, he also met and befriended Genjuro, fellow student and another orphan like himself. One day, he was told that they would battle to determine who would learn the secrets in a magical scroll of the wind techniques to boost their fighting ability. Genjuro wins, but almost kills kayin; in response, daisis banishes Genjuro . Encouraged by this defeat Kayin drove to further improve himself when the time came he inherited the wind techniques and the with wind techniques the school. Gozarin who he thought to be his friend and older Brother challenged him beat him and took the school from out of jealousy he now travels to different tournaments to get stronger so he can beat gozarin and get his school back. He lost at the last tournament and was down when an old man told him about tartar us and gave him a map leading to the place.
is this better

Um...make it a story, not a summary. The background and sample are separate.

As Machinari has said, a writing sample and your brief background are completely different inclusions. You do the brief background alright there, except for the need to reread it for spelling, capitalization, and complete sentences, etc. The need for a writing sample comes down to what the arena IS. This is a writing tournament. Not exactly a roleplay. As has been explained in other places within this guild, you will be paired up with another gladiator team and you will write your version of how the fight goes in the form of a short story. Your writing sample should explain how your character gets into the arena, maybe offer examples of how your character functions in battle, why they want the wishing stone, etc. This writing sample is to help your opponents better understand how your character functions, so that their integrity doesn't get completely massacred in the fight. Now, if this information has been missed I think it's important by extension that I point out a few other pieces of advice. #1- You want your character profile to be as understandable as possible. If your character uses some kind of strange weapon or fighting style, you need to either explain it yourself or link to a website that does. #2- When you write your short-story version of the battle against your opponent, your goal is NOT to kill them. The ways you can win are explained here, under "Match Types."

I can't say anything to RAM and XxBroken_And_ShatteredxX that hasn't already been said. However, allow me to help you two to make an important realization: this writing sample is likely the shortest and easiest piece you will have to produce for the tournament. If you can't muster a few paragraphs of dynamic dialogue and action, you may be in the wrong guild. However, if you would like an opportunity to let loose and really build your skills, this is where you want to be.

We technically have eleven completed profiles, though a few definitely need to put some expansion on their writing samples. (Your sample needs to be longer than just a few paragraphs, I don't know how many times we have to say that...)
We need 16 total profiles to run this thing, so that means we only need five more. Whatever you can get for us, it would be muchly appreciated.
