Table of Contents Places People Items PlacesLudusIs a training establishment run by a Domina or Dominus. It is usually square in shape, but can be circular. The top floors are where the owners live, while the lower levels are where the fighting slaves and gladiators are kept. There is a open space, perimeter secured by gate and watched by guards. This is where the fighters are trained, by a Doctore. Next to the outside place is the mess hall or break room where the fighters can eat and converse when not training. Inside are the barracks where they are locked up for the night. They are usually kept separated from each other, but can see each other through the bars. Good fighters are often rewarded with their own private room and allowed visits from house slaves...or the person of their choosing; as long as it is approved by the owners. In a room tucked away from the barracks is the Infirmary overseen by the Medicus and also a public fighter washing pool. A Ludus can have three different stats, given by the Magistrate. Poor, Fair, and Good. It will change depending on how many fights are won or lost in the Ludus, how many healings have taken place, active interactions with the Magistrate, and it will effect the Ludus' funds. Status Everyone starts at the Fair status. Losing your first fight will drop your status down to Poor. To get back to Fair you must win 5 fights, or have 5 complete healings happen in your Ludus, or a combination of the 2. Consistent loses will drop your status again, or if the owners are constantly begging the Magistrate for money. To get to Good you must win 10 fights, or have 10 healings, or a combination of the 2. Or have one of your fighter's become Champion. Or if a Medicus regenerates someone's limbs. Once you have a Champion, it will be harder for your status to fall. The Magistrate will turn a blind eye to most lost fights. If at anytime your Ludus funds drop to 0 your status drops to Poor. Monthly Upkeep At the end of each month, when the guild is doing activity checks, 5 denarii will be taken from each Ludus to cover food supplies, medicine, and training equipment. If a Ludus does not have enough denarii at the end of the month to cover the fees there status will drop to Poor and they will be in debt for however much they owe. If too much debt is acquired, do not be surprised if the Magistrates henchmen come knocking to reprocess your items or people, and possibly imprison your character. Slave MarketProbably one of the most busiest places. This is where the buying of slaves go down. The stock is put on display, usually they are tied to one another to prevent escape and guarded around the clock. Other items such as herbs, weapons, shields, etc are obtainable through the slave market, and have to be brought in order to unlock them for the slaves to use. VillaThe Magistrate lives here. It is a day's trip away from the Marketplace and is like coming into another world. Slaves here tend to be more pleasant and more talented. Dressed better and the buildings are more lavish and extravagant. If you need more funds, you want to get your fighter approved for a fight, or you wish to ask permission for holding an event at your Ludus; request an audience with the Magistrate at the Villa. Also most parties are held at the Villa. The PitsThis is one of the fighting areas. Here is where any fighting character, from fighting slave to Doctore can fight. It is a gruesome square ring, stained with blood. Two go in one ever leaves. The crowd stands around the ring, eying and snarling like beasts hungry for blood. This is not a place for the faint of heart. Assassinates most often take place here. Masters should be careful and always be escorted by a guard while here. Theft of coin is possible here; attempt before snatching. This is a quick level place, but each fight risks your character's death. Fighters do not have to be owned to fight here and the fights are not regulated so a fighter could be placed against a much stronger fighter and no one will say anything against it. ArenaIt is one of the fighting areas. Here is where a fighting slave can become a gladiator, but they have to be approved to fight by their Master's. Fights are often around the same level. If there are two fighting slaves fighting, after the fight they will both upgrade to gladiator. The arena is a square, average sized fighting ring. The crowd sits on wooden bleacher like seats and a balcony is placed above for the higher ups to judge the fight. Most times the fights are to submission but depending on the crowd and the higher ups can be to the death. ColiseumIt is one of the fighting areas. Here is where a Gladiator or Doctore can become Champion of their Ludus. They must be approved by their Masters and the Magistrate. Fighters are often around the same level. Becoming Champion improves the status of your Ludus and earns it more money as well as upgrades any items +1. The Coliseum is made of strong granite stone and is a marvel to behold. Its a huge circular ring. The higher ups have there own comfortable room, with a huge open space and balcony to relax, sit, rest, and enjoy the match. The crowd sits on stone seats surrounding the ring, and rise higher the further back they go. The matches are usually to the death but can change depending on the mood of the crowd and the higher ups. ( may add more. Go to the Suggestion thread and suggest.)

Table of Contents Places People Items People
House Slave - (Starter Healer) - Cost: 5 denarii They start off in the slave market, tied to each other to prevent escape. Usually in dirty scraps and sold to a Ludus. Their job is anything that their Domina or Dominus ask of them. They clean, handle messages, are seen as rewards to be given to good fighters, entertain, and especially have the ability to heal. As they level up they gain more and more freedom, and can become a Medicus once they reach level 10. To unlock it an important task will be given by a higher up and once complete, Medicus will unlock. As fragile as they might seem they are a necessity for any Ludus, how else will your fighters be battle ready?
Fighting Slave - (Starter Warrior) - Cost: 15 denarii They start off in the slave market, tied to each other to prevent escape. Usually in dirty scraps and sold to a Ludus. In the market they level slowly because the place does not have equipment to aid training. Once brought it becomes easier to level. They will have a chance to become Gladiators once at level 5. If chosen to fight in the arena. The mark of the brotherhood will be given by a Doctore, symbolizing the Ludus you are from. Once to level 10, Guard will automatically unlock. Level Guard to level 10 to unlock Doctore.
Domina - (Starter Character) - Start Funds: 30 denarii The female version of Dominus. This is the role of Mistress. She oversees all things that happen in her Ludus. Choosing of stock, punishments, rewards, who fights or doesn't. Her stock's lives are in her hands. With one word she can see any in her Ludus put to death. Please her and see your character rise to fame and fortune...who knows she might even grant your freedom. She will be granted funds to run the Ludus on when joining.
Dominus - (Starter Character) - Start Funds: 30 denarii The male version of Domina. This is the role of Master. He oversees all things that happen in his Ludus. Choosing of stock, punishments, rewards, who fights or doesn't. His stock's lives are in his hands. With one word he can see any in his Ludus put to death. Please him and see your character rise to fame and fortune...who knows he might even grant your freedom. He will be granted funds to run the Ludus on when joining.
Gladiator - (Unlockable) - Starts with Weapon +1 Shield +1 Cost: 20 denarii Fighting Slave has completed training to level 5 and have lived through an Arena fight. They are given the mark of the brotherhood and now accepted as Gladiators. Other Gladiators will no longer pick with you for being an outcast with no mark. They have good weapons, armor, and sometimes shields. If your character fights with two swords, instead of shield put armor. At level 10 they can become a Guard or choose to keep leveling as a Gladiator. At any time you can change your mind and become a Guard. Leveling the Guard position is the only way to unlock Doctore position.
Guard - (Unlockable) - Starts with Weapon +1 Armor +1 Cost: 25 denarii After level 10 Gladiator is reached, Guard will unlock. They are in charge of keeping the peace and order, especially when the Doctore is busy. They will punish those they see fit, and need no instruction from a Domina or Dominus to do such. Though if specific directions of punishment is given, they will perform it.
Medicus - (Unlockable) - Starts with Herbs +1 Aura +1 Cost: 30 denarii After level 10 House slave is reached a task will be given. Completion of task will unlock Medicus. They are in charge of any major injuries, which would include the need for surgery, intense sicknesses, and teaching lower levels about healing. As fragile as they might seem they are a necessity for any Ludus, how else will your fighters be battle ready? (They are the only type of healer who can regenerate a limb at the cost of 1 aura point and resurrect a character at the cost of 5 aura points.)
Doctore - (Unlockable) - Starts with Whip +1 Armor +1 Cost: 35 denarii To unlock Doctore; Fighting slave, Gladiator, and Guard have had to be unlocked beforehand. Once Guard is to level 10, Doctore will automatically unlock. They are an ultimate presence in any Ludus. A good Doctore can effect a Ludus' status and money income. They train your fighters, gladiators and guards. They deliver better punishments then guards. Yeah their completely badass.
Magistrate - (Doji Satsume only) He is the editor. Dominus' and Domina's want to kiss his a** in order to get better status for their Ludus and better funding. He will often oversee fights and will also approve of any big matches. You can kill him but their will be consequences...but it could also give your Ludus a fresh start if things were going bad the first time. I'll make a new Mag if he does die. He might appoint messengers (who will only be either Vice Captions or Crew) who will have the same power...for times he is unavailable.
Other NPC's (Non-playable characters) They are always going to be level 5 with the appropriate amount of health points for their position.
NPC Medicus is found at the default Ludus and can heal your character if there is no one else to do so. It takes one real day for your health to return to 100% (A NPC Medicus can not regenerate limbs.)
You can control any NPC's except for the Magistrate or his messengers, in order to spice things up if your bored. (You can not level off of fighting NPC's) Killing an NPC can result in consequences.
