Lightning sliced through the sky, splitting in half as the wind began to howl, whipping the trees into submission as their branches swayed - broke even - at the force of the wind. Thunder rumbled, like an angry Rhyhorn waiting to be unleashed. The night had fallen, meaning the lightning illuminated the world with every strike, every flash.
Dyfri shivered a little in fear as he watched nature rage across the skies. Or maybe it was like that battle which Kyogre and Groudon had, where the land and the sea fought with each other for dominance, threatening to overwhelm each other. It was dark out, darker than the darkest of nights. The only illumination was from whenever the lightning struck out.
It was beautiful, it was wild. It was dangerous. So what was a small Lapras plushie like himself doing out here? Well, no thanks to his trainer, he'd been left outside by accident. She'd locked the door and shut the windows the moment the storm hit, leaving Dyfri no way of entering the house. Resigned, he'd taken shelter under a tree, even though now he was surely absorbing water, making it difficult to move.
Maybe it would flood enough so he could swim? Dyfri tilted his head and hoped that whatever happened, no one would eat him or take him away.

Tsukiya was jolted awake by the roar of thunder. Big droplets were splashing across his velveteen coat, even under the protection of the dense tree he was underneath. He looked out in the open, and saw the rain was steadily streaming down. It showed no sign of stopping anytime soon. At least it's nighttime.
The Umbreon plushie sat upright, surveying the scene. Why hadn't his trainer come back for him? There was no going back to the safety of the house now, as Tsukiya dreaded getting his coat wet. He might as well make the most of it, and stay relatively dry where he was now. He walked closer to the base of the tree, where it was driest, but suddenly wondered: Am I supposed to stay under trees in lightning storms?
Tsukiya walked around to the other side of the wide trunk, for he could not see the other side of it without doing so. He wanted to see if there was any better shelter close by, that he could run to. If his trainer was out there somewhere, Tsukiya was sure she would be able to see his glowing rings. He wasn't worried about being lost.
As he turned the corner, a blue and white plush came into view. Tsukiya was shocked to see another plushie right under the same tree as him, but he was not startled. Being a dark type pokemon, he could see clearly that it was a Lapras, but he wondered whether it noticed him. Where are all these plushies appearing from?
"Don't Lapras like water?" He asked the plush, making his presense known.

The darkness was ripped apart as lightning streaked the sky, creating a wildly beautiful pattern that made one stare in awe. However, it was punctuated by the roars of thunder, sounding very much like an enraged Tyranitar. Dyfri shuddered and flinched in fear as the thunder rumbled overhead.
The rain fell through the branches and leaves, from the branches and leaves and onto Dyfri. Dyfri made a face. He liked water, but it was all at once or not at all. Unlike this torrential downpour from under a tree, where some drops landed and other didn't. However, he was likely spending the rest of the night out here, so he may as well get comfortable. From the corner of his eye, he saw as some eerily yellow rings of light began to emerge from around the other side of the tree, spooking Dyfri. The red eyes made the situation worse, causing Dyfri to cringe in fear until it spoke. Which nearly scared the stuffing out of the Lapras plushie.
"Kind of not really?" Dyfri offered tentatively. "I like a lot of water or none at all. Not getting wet in little bits like this." He made a face, even as his mind frantically raced to figure out what it was. Was it a pokemon? Was it a -gasp- monster? Uhm Pokemon. Which one had red eyes and yellow rings and blended into the night. Uhhhh. Dyfri's mind drew a complete blank as his face showed blatant terror and apprehension.

It looked as if his presence had spooked the Lapras, but it was able to speak. A male, judging by the voice.
Tsukiya raised a nonexistant eyebrow. He didn't understand the Lapras' preference, due to not being a water type himself, and he decided not to pursue the subject any further. He hated any type of water, no matter what the circumstance. His cloth was not waterproof and water would, therefore, soak into his fluff. He would have to drag his wet body, along with all the water that is in his fluff, making him quite a bit heavier. Tsukiya much prefers being lightweight.
The Lapras was still terrified, probably even more so than before he said anything. Maybe he shouldn't have made his presence known, and instead walked back around the tree to his side. He thought it was better than the other plush found out now, rather than surprising the Umbreon later, and possibly making a huge eek, eek, eek scene.
Tsukiya turned back the way he came, showing that he wasn't looking to pounce and eat the Lapras that was much larger than himself. No sense frightening the other plush, as it looks like they will be here awhile. On a normal day, Tsukiya wouldn't have offered any interaction, but the storm was gloomy and didn't seem to be stopping any time soon. Might as well past the time. He sat again in his original spot at the base of the trunk. He would let the Lapras come to him.

Dyfri just stayed there, still as a statue until eventually, the yellow rings and the red eyes faded back into the darkness where it had come from. Releasing a breath the Lapras didn't know he was holding, he felt a bit of relief at not being eaten. Or killed. Or ripped apart. But. That.. thing was still there. Just. Out of sight. But. It was still there.
The blue and white plushie stayed where he was, unsure of what to do next. Approach the thing again? Wait. That wasn't nice. It wasn't just a thing. It probably had a name and all. Trying to calm his racing thought, he sifted through his brain again, trying to remember which pokemon was it that had yellow rings and red eyes. Uhm. Not an Ampharos. Definitely not. Electrike? Nah. "Not a ghost type either.." Dyfri muttered to himself. Ehh. Couldn't be an Absol, since Absols were back and white. Uhh. Umbreon? N- Waiittt. That made sense didn't it? Night time pokemon, yellow rings, red eyes. Black.
Having have identified the pokemon it was mostly likely to be was a comfort to Dyfri. Now he knew that there wasn't too much to be afraid of. Or was there? But he wouldn't find out sitting here would he? Dyfri started off towards where the Umbreon had disappeared, looking for it. "Hey, are you still there?" He called out, suddenly feeling very small and vulnerable. He slid forward inch by inch, hesitant and slightly fearful.

Tsukiya sat, staring as the droplets fell from where the leaves were least packed together. One droplet landed in the middle of his head, and he frowned.
He heard the Lapras call out.
"Why do you think I was here in the first place? Rain's not my thing." He explained what he thought was obvious. He guessed it wasn't so to the water type.
Tsukiya turned his head towards the voice, finding himself face to face with the other plush. He didn't think the Lapras had moved, and was slightly taken aback to see him so close. It wasn't because the Umbreon was afraid of him, but he couldn't ignore that the Lapras was bigger than him. If he decided to sit on Tsukiya, it would have been all over for him.
He stared for a moment, unsure of what happens now. He didn't have much time to wonder, though. Thunder cracked the loudest he's ever heard it that night, and lightning illuminated the grass around him, both at once. Even the normally undauntless Tsukiya jumped about a mile high.
The night didn't return to its previously darkened state, though. Reds and yellows flickered dimly around the two plush. Tsukiya heard the crackling of something burning, above him.
Now he remembered. You don't stand under trees in a thunderstorm. If they had been real pokemon, they might have been dead.

A particularly large raindrop fell on Dyfri, half soaking him. Dyfri made a face. He hated this. Neither wet not dry. A sour expression crossed his face as he continued to search for the Umbreon. Spotting a faint yellow light, the Lapras proceeded to get as close to it as possible. The Umbreon replied, his disdain for the rain very apparent in his tone. "Oh. I guess your trainer didn't leave you outside like mine did then.." Dyfri trailed off. Now that he was closer, he could see that the Umbreon was clearly smaller than himself, significantly smaller for that matter.
Thunder suddenly roared, scaring the Lapras just as lightning struck the tree. It tore the dark sky apart, bringing light momentarily before it faded. However, the night was no longer as dark as it had been. A crackling sound sounded as a branch fell from overhead, narrowly missing the two plushies. Flames leaped from the branch hungrily, devouring anything they could reach. They were coming dangerously close to the two plushies, their hungry tongues flickering outwards.
HOLY s**t. Dyfri started scrabbling, trying to get away from the fire. He may have been a water type pokemon, but it didn't mean he liked fire. At a distance it was fine. But like this? Well, he wanted to live longer. "GO!" He shouted at the Umbreon, who'd remained motionless after his jump from shock and surprise. They had to get away before the flames came any closer. They were dangerously close already as it was.

A flaming branch fell inches from where the plush stood. That was their signal to run. The tree no longer provided safety to the two, and instead was a danger zone. They needed to find actual shelter, and fast, before the Umbreon's stuffing gets soaked through to the inside. He wasn't made out of waterproof material. Nor fireproof, he thought to himself, as he watched the blazes erupt onto the grassy area that it landed on.
"Follow me." He dashed away from the flames, and into the stormy night. The rain pelted his plush body, as he looked around for a safer shelter. Tsukiya could see during the night, and he was sure the Lapras couldn't. The Umbreon's yellow markings gave off an eerie glow in the otherwise still darkness.
After a couple of minutes of what seemed like an eternity of rain droplets slashing on his face, he spotted a building in the distance. This raised his determination, and he ran even faster ahead, hoping the Lapras could keep up. He wasn't about to stop and look back when he was getting dreadfully wet. It wasn't like the Lapras would get his stuffing soaked.
When he reached the covered porch of the house, he shook the excess water drops from his coat. Tsukiya was glad that he no longer had rain splashing on him, though he was uncomfortable being a wet plushie. He looked back where he had come from, looking to see if there was any sign of the Lapras.

The Umbreon dashed pass the flaming branch, his yellow rings glowing eerily as he shouted for Dyfri to follow him. Straining to see the Umbreon beyond the gold and red flames slowly making their way across the grass towards them, Dyfri continued to move as quickly as he could. It wasn't safe anymore, especially not now when it had caught on fire.
Soon, he was out of immediate danger, but with the winds whistling around him, sounding very much like a pokemon in pain, Dyfri could feel himself beginning to tremble. The rains fell in heavy droplets, wetting him in patches as he continued on after the Umbreon. He could just faintly see the glowing yellow rings, stopping somewhere beyond him.
It was tiring, but eventually Dyfri caught up to the Umbreon. Too tired to speak, he merely gave the Umbreon an exhausted smile as he rested, trying to recover. In the distance, the tree was quickly catching fire elsewhere, the flames spreading like a disease all over the tree, turning it into a giant torch.

At first, all Tsukiya saw was the tree he had escaped from, its last branches catching fire. It's still pouring hard, so he wasn't too concerned about the fire spreading to where he was. It'll eventually be put out by the falling water.
As he watched, Tsukiya finally glimpsed the blue plush heading towards his position. He sat on the porch, and waited for the Lapras to catch his breath. A strong, cold wind blew by, bringing with it more rain droplets. They splashed on the two plush. This isn't a very nice spot to stay in. The Umbreon groaned to himself, and turned his head towards the house. If only there was a way in... surely it was warmer inside.
Tsukiya poked his head over to the side of the house, seeing if there was an open window. Indeed, just what he was looking for-- a cracked window at ground level, probably leading to the basement. There were no lights shining from within, so he assumed it was unoccupied.
"I'm going to try to get in. Come if you want." He left his invitation open, as he didn't really care whether, or not the Lapras followed.
Tsukiya stepped off the porch, and stayed as close the the wall as possible to avoid the rain. He walked over to the window, and peered in. Seems like it was a storage space, and judging by the amount of dust covering every inch of space, it wasn't in use.

Dyfri tilted his head to watch as the Umbreon started poking around, apparently very much bothered by the gust of wind that had splashed raindrops on them both. He seemed rather keen on getting into the building, as opposed to staying out in the rain, vulnerable to the elements.
Following the Umbreon, Dyfri spotted the open window just as the Umbreon invited him to follow, but didn't seem to really care. Dyfri shrugged and followed him. How could it hurt to get inside somewhere dry and safe from the elements?
Through the stained and cracked window, he could see that it appeared to be a storage room of some sort, abandoned by the looks of it. Dyfri made a face, hoping the weren't any Ratatas or Raticates in there. He honestly despised the rat-like pokemon. They scared him with their tendencies to be anywhere and everywhere. Not to mention the way they bred. Dyfri shuddered.
They were definitely going to pick up a lot of dust from going in there, not to mention especially more so since they were wet. And the dust would stick. ugh. But inside a dusty old building versus the fury of nature? He'd take the building. Unless it was infested with Ratatas and Raticates. "I sincerely hope we don't find any Ratatas or Raticates in there..." Dyfri muttered under his breath as he slid his long neck under the window, lifting it slightly so the Umbreon had a little more room to maneuver as he entered.

As Tsukiya was looking in through the window, he noticed the Lapras coming along, as well. Also, he helped with opening the window, and held it so that he could enter first. The Umbreon was surprised with the other plush's willingness to help. Maybe the Lapras would come to prove useful with heavy objects, or difficult to reach places because of his long neck.
Tsukiya slipped out of the pouring rain through the open window, and picked up a short stick that happened to be nearby. This must be what they use to prop up the glass. He secured it between the window pane and the window sill, making sure it was placed snugly, so it wouldn't slam shut with them inside.
Next, was to find a way to dry himself off. He didn't expect the Lapras to help him out much with this, as he couldn't see in the dark, like the Umbreon. Tsukiya shifted through the boxes, making dust fly up everywhere; old toys, tableware, books, and various other junk. He didn't care much about getting dust on him, as he was already wet. It can't get worse than that.
At last, he ripped opened a box containing some wool sweaters. They seemed to have been packed away for winter. This will do. He tugged a particularly large one out, and flung it to the Lapras, before pulling out another for himself.
"Dry off." He suggested, but it came out more like a demand, with his lack of words. Tsukiya wrapped himself up, content to have some of the water soaked up into the sweater. He was feeling so pleasant about being out of the rain that every sense of danger slipped his mind.

The Umbreon wriggled in, thoughtfully propping up the window with a stick so Dyfri could get in. Squeezing himself through the small opening wasn't exactly easy, but once he was in he looked around to find the Umbreon digging through a box full of old sweaters. Many of the other boxes had been opened, as lightning flashed outside, briefly revealing their contents.
An assortment of books, toys and tableware had been stored within these boxes. Dyfri also saw some letters. Letting his eyes adjust to the dim light, Dyfri could vague make out the boxes as he carefully made his way across the room to where the Umbreon was. The Umbreon flung a sweater at him, with orders to dry off. Dyfri smiled, slightly amused. The Umbreon dug out a sweater for himself and snuggled in, curling up within it and looking very much like a pleased Meowth who just had a saucer of milk.
Sliding into the sweater the Umbreon had thrown to him, Dyfri felt the sweater absorb some of the water on him. No doubt he'd dry, but that meant he'd have to shift every now and then to a dry spot on the sweater. A silence fell over them, making Dyfri feel a little uneasy. Were there Ratatas and Raticates? Honestly, he didn't want to know. Doubtless there'd be a few, but they hadn't made an appearance, so no point disturbing them. The Lapras plushie most certainly didn't want to be torn apart to be made into a nest for more Ratatas or Raticates. There were too many as it was already. They didn't need anymore. Dyfri snuggled into the sweater, feeling a little safer within the folds of the wool.
"I'm Dyfri." The Lapras offered his name, breaking the silence. Softly, he began to hum a softly haunting tune, something he always did when he was uneasy.

It wasn't long before the Lapras offered his name.
"Tsukiya," he replied, thinking back upon all the other times he's said it, noting that he's come across way too many plush.
The Lapras began to hum, much to the dismay of the Umbreon.
"What is...that?" He questioned, irritated. It was a bit unnecessary, as he could not think of any usefulness in that humming sound. None of the other plushies he had met made that sound.
"What was that noise?" A human voice came from upstairs, "I heard a noise coming from the basement! If it's one of those burglars, or something, I swear I will bash his head so far in before he even knows it!"
Tsukiya panicked in his head, and motioned to the Lapras to hide. He tucked himself between two dusty boxes, abandoning his comfortable sweater. There was no time to fix the mess he made. The Umbreon hoped he could not be seen from the outside, and became limp.

Tsukiya. So the Umbreon did have a name. Despite his general unfriendliness he didn't seem too bad. Or at least, not at the moment. He wasn't exactly what one would call Mr. Sociable and Friendly. In fact, he seemed to be rather cutting and blunt. Probably didn't get him any friends, but the Umbreon didn't seem to care for that anyways.
"Oh it's a-" Dyfri began before noises from above them drowned him out. Humans! Dyfri froze and followed Tsukiya's example, abandoning the soggy sweater and tucking himself between two boxes. It was a tight fit, but it didn't matter because soon the lights flickered on.
"Who left the window open?" A human asked crossly as he went to shut it, trapping the two plushies. Dyfri stiffened even further. Now there was no way out! Turning to examine the room again, the human looked at the room.
"Who was in here?" He demanded. "I know everything out here had been tidied away! Not strewn over the floor like this." He seemed very angry and put-off, and did't look likely to leave until the mess had been cleaned up. That was not good. If he did that, the two plushies would be discovered.
"Daddy! Look!" Dyfri heard a new voice as he saw Tsukiya being lifted up. "Can I keep this please Daddy?" A little human had come in, and seemed rather delighted at finding Tsukiya. If the situation had been bad before, now it was worse. How was he gonna get Tsukiya and himself out?
"I guess. He needs a wash. Throw him in the washer then we'll put him in the dryer. Maybe you can take him to bed with you tonight." The bigger human shrugged and began to tidy up the mess, stacking books into a neat pile while the rest of the items were placed neatly in their boxes. He seemed even angrier when he found the two wet sweaters Dyfri and Tsukiya had snuggled in. "These are wet!" He complained as he proceeded to take them out, the little human following his example and turning off the lights, leaving Dyfri alone in the dark, dusty room once more.
They were in trouble. They were most definitely very much in trouble.
