Her Custom Rapier
Her mother and father tried for many years to have a child. Unfortunately the mother had weak health led to a lot of miscarriages. Each miscarriage left her weaker than the last. When she finally was able to give birth she had to have healers surround her just so she could live through the process. After she had her daughter the queen decided that she would never try for another child. Just having one was too much for her frail body.
Being the only heir to the Water Kingdom her father raised her to be a military commander first and a diplomat second. She spent most of her early life honing her abilities under her father's watchful eye. Her mother begged her father to let her be a child but he would hear none of it. She learned very young that emotions are weak and in order to become stronger you must overcome them. This lead to her being incredibly blunt and cold on the outside. Her father was determined to test all that he had taught her. So at the age of 17 he took her out to hunt.
Unfortunately the hunting trip turned ugly when an intense storm blew in. Her father found them shelter in a shallow cave. A group of pirates ran into the cave freezing, they didn't notice the two other people creeping in the darkness. Just then artemis and her father jumped the group of pirates. In the heat of battle the king suddenly fell to his knees clutching his chest . Artemis turned to look at her father hearing a thud as he fell to his knees. He was about to be beheaded by a lousy pirate. She created a spike right through the pirate's chest in a rage. Seeing the ice abilities the other pirates realized they were no ordinary citizens, and ran for it.
She ran to her father's side and attempted to heal him, but her skills weren't good enough. She returned home with her dead father in her arms. The queen, her daughter and the people mourned his death. A huge funeral was held, and only the closest allies of the water kingdom attended. The queen decided to arrange a marriage to ease the people's suffering. She chose a man whose family had deep ties to the nobles and military. She detested him however she accepted her mother's decision.
At the end of the marriage ceremony the queen announced she was stepping down. Artemis demanded her mother give her an answer as to why she would do such a thing. Her mother's only reply was that it was her time, and she was no longer fit to be queen. Still dealing with the loss of her father and now the new responsibility of being queen she chose to steel herself for her new duties.

Despite her icy shell she has a fiery temper that will burn you if you're not careful. Due to her lack of civility she comes off as ruthless. Unbeknownst to most she enjoys making people walk on eggshells.
