Daelen as he appeared during his time as Chancellor of the Terran Republic

History: In the costly aftermath of the Oblivion War, the Terran Republic was a mere shred of its former self. Returned to their nomadic roots, Chancellor Daelen led the fragile Terran civilization to its new home, hundreds of light-years from what is now the territory of the Galactic Protectorate. Daelen became so popular with the Terran people that they refused to allow him to step down from the office of Chancellor, even though he tried several times to abdicate. Finally, Daelen announced plans to re-organize the structure of the Terran Republic to become the Terran Imperium, though he did not name himself as its leader. It came as no surprise that the Terran people elected him to the position of Emperor overwhelmingly. Strangely, Daelen did not protest this decision or refuse to accept it, as many speculated he would. Perhaps he knew such actions were ultimately useless against a populus where he enjoyed such broad and unwavering support. Daelen wielded almost unlimited power for the duration of his reign as Emperor.

Daelen used his Force powers to prolong his life hundreds of years, giving the Terran people the impression that he was a god.

As Daelen's reign progressed, a large number of people within the Imperium grew less and less satisfied with his governing techniques. Finally, the planet of Cadia rebelled outright, plunging the Terran nation into civil war. The Cadian Rebellion gained sympathy and support from the Galactic Protectorate, as well as the forces of Lord Oblivion and BAHRAM.

Eventually, the Cadian/Protectorate forces attacked Terra itself. Daelen was confronted by Lord Oblivion in his throne room. Daelen attmpted to kill Oblivion, but turned his attention to getting rid of Senator Doman Beruss, the leader of the Cadian Rebellion, when the latter also came to his throne room. He was prevented from doing so by Oblivion, who used his Anti-Force powers to purge Daelen of his midichlorians, cutting off all access to the Force.

Daelen escaped capture and fled from Terra, using a hidden Templar Supergate to escape to another galaxy. There, he created a clone body for himself using Templar technology. Daelen managed to avoid capture by the forces of the Protectorate galaxy for some time, before he was eventually "captured" by Mirai forces and turned over to the Terrans. However, this Daelen was in fact a clone, which was revealed when he killed himself with an organic explosive in an attempt to decapitate the Terran leadership. However, he failed to kill the Chancellor of the Republic, Doman Beruss.

Daelen would then be forced to flee to the Kressari capital planet of Kora Prime, where he would reside for some time before being betrayed by the Kressari and turned over to the Terrans yet again, in exchange for Terran military aid. However, this Daelen too was a clone. However, this was not realized until the Templar captured a third Edward Daelen at one of their old citadels on the planet Moria. Daelen was detained by the Templar, who executed all of his clones. He was then transported back to Terra, where he was imprisoned in a military detention facility, awaiting trial for his crimes.

Recently, an attempt by a rogue unit of the former Section-31 to free Daelen from his imprisonment was foiled by the Mirai.

Physical Description: A tall, well-built man with cropped brown hair. Wears the uniform of the Terran Army General.



History: Derrick's great-grandfather was the vaunted Colonel Daniel Kaine of Section-13.

Derrick entered the Imperium's Military Academy at 18 and showed proficiency in combat with mobile suits. Upon graduation from the academy, he was assigned to the Terran Mobile Suit Corps as a Lieutenant. He was promoted quickly to Captain and made a squad leader, given his seemingly natural aptitude with handling a MS.

When the Cadian Rebellion against the Imperium began, Kaine was contacted by agents of the Cadian government, due to his expertise with mobile suits and his Cadian heritage. The leader of the Cadian rebellion, Doman Beruss, hoped that Kaine would be willing to aid the Rebellion by training Cadian military personell in the use of Mobile Suits, specifically the Gundams that the Cadians had acquired. Intially reluctant, due to Imperial indoctrination, Kaine eventually joined the Cadian cause. He was assigned by Doman to the Lunar III Base, where he began training the Cadians in the operation of Asmodeus Gundams.

After the success of the Cadian Rebellion, Kaine was appointed by the new Provisional Government to serve as their Liasion Officer to the Terran Armed Forces. He was thereby promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. He tended to stick close to the new Chairman of the Provisional Government, Doman Beruss, whom he saw as a sort of mentor.

Kaine was re-assigned by Chancellor Beruss to be the leader of the Terran contingent sent to the Mirai vessel, Alliance. He was later sent back to Terra after the political shift to the Third Republic. Upon returning he was promoted to Brigadier General and then was sent, along with his full brigade, to Leonis to police to the troubled planet.
