Type: Private (But we could use an Urahara!)
Setting: This is originally an RP done through PM between myself and Kal, involving Yoruichi and my OC Muriko. It is a sort of AU timejump from a dead public thread that can be found here along with a bio for Muriko.

Due to lack of activity in the guild we have decided to post the RP here, starting from the begining.

-----

The young woman stretched her arms as she walked down the sidewalk, letting out a relaxed groan as her muscles felt better. That evening had been rather eventful. She hadn't really encountered that many Hollows in a long while, so it was quite an experience helping to keep them at bay. Of course, it also served to remind her at how inept her actual fighting skills were.

But what use did those skills serve? It was a shinigami's job to take care of those things, not hers. Oh sure she could turn into a shinigami, but that didn't make her an underling to Soul Society. She was independent from them, and it was their business to deal with the supernatural. And she hadn't even reverted into a shinigami for a very long time. Honing her skills was pointless.

Now in the case of her other abilities... those were different. Those she could use while still in her material body. They could be used in small degrees without the normal populace knowing that she had even done anything out of the ordinary.

Muriko shoved her hands into the pockets of her jacket, stifling back a yawn. Boy.. it was really late now. What time was it, anyway? She had no watch, but if she calculated correctly.... 11 PM? Maybe? And she had ventured out from her hotel at around six that.

She sighed to herself. All in all, it had been a good day.

Yoruichi followed Muriko at a discreet distance, her paws making no noise as she walked briskly behind the girl. The feel of almost-shinigami had her nose twitching, as did the fact that this girl somehow felt...familiar. Uruhara had been most unhelpful, but then he usually was when he had something up his sleeve. Her amber eyes narrowed slightly. She was supposed to already know? She did have other things to do than keep watch over the spiritual happenings on the mortal plane, contrary to popular belief. Geez.

But now, her interest was piqued. She would get to the bottom of this.

Hm.. she could've sworn she was being followed. Since about the time she broke off from the others that evening, she had sensed a small blip of spiritual energy within a short distance from her. Now normally she might've chocked up that some dead spirit of somebody was following her or something, but not only were there no visible ghosts lurking about her form, the aura was far from being the kind a ghost carried. No, this aura, while vague on her senses, carryied the feeling of something more dense.. and familiar. Auugh! What was it?!

Frowning to herself as she continued to walk onward, she let out a huff of frustration. She didn't like being followed by someone she didn't know. Rawr. And she couldn't look around her, otherwise that'd alert her stalker. Nyaaaaah.

Luckily, Muriko came upon a crosswalk, which allowed her to focus a bit more on the... person, or whatever, stalking her. She didn't hear any footsteps, and she didn't really feel the presence of a 'body' behind her, so if it wasn't human form, what the heck was it? A squirrel? A bird? A stray dog? A ca--oh. Damn, could it be?

Standing casually next to the crosswalk pole, weight resting on one leg more than the other, Muriko waited for the signal to change while alternately feeling out for her follower. Being as discreet as she could, she turned her head to glance around the area as if it was something she did all the time. (And what 'normal' young woman wouldn't look around her at night for potential stalkers?)

Yoruichi kept walking, even after she felt that Muriko had noticed her because a real cat wouldn't give a damn. Unfortunately, she still wasn't any closer to figuring the girl out. Her tail waved, expressing the annoyance she felt. She would find out where the girl was staying, in any event, and keep an eye on her at her leisure.

Kiiiiiiitttttyyy....! Uuuaah~ Kitty, kitty, kitty! She couldn't help but grin at the sight of the feline. She was just sooo cute~ Spirit or not, she had to fight the urge to run over and huggle the poor thing to death.

Of course she didn't have to struggle long, since the light turned green and she was able to cross the street. Muriko kept a lingering eye on the kitty for a moment before actually crossing, hoping that she'd follow. Of course, considering that she'd been followed that far already, that was most likely going to happen. Yeeeh!

Arg, crap, Yoruichi groaned silently. Might as well act as if she was looking for a handout. Breaking into a run she sprinted across the road before the light changed. She had no interest whatsoever in becoming a kitty pancake.

It was easy to catch up with Muriko then. Still playing her part, Yoruichi rubbed against the girl's ankles, mewing cutely and knowing if Kisuke ever saw her doing this, she'd never live it down.

Muriko fought hard to not gush into a squeal then and there. Too. Freaking. Cuuute!

She bent down pet the cat, easily pretending that she thought it was just a normal stray. "Sorry, Neko-chan. I don't have food right now." she apologized, scratching behind her ear. The cat certainly seemed to enjoy the attention, but Muriko was more concerned on whether or not her suspicions were correct. After all, the reiatsu she sensed was very well hidden, and it could've come from some random bird in tree for all she knew. 'In any case, I'm about to be 'owner' of a new kitty..'

With little more than a moment's glint in her eyes, Muriko quickly scooped up the cat, covered the last block to her motel in an instant with shyunpo, and ducked inside her room before anyone had the chance to see her or even comprehend that she carried a 'pet' with her.

Letting the dark cat drop to the floor, she simultaneously locked her door, continuing to stand in front of it. Now was the moment of truth. Did she bring back an ordinary cat, or was it really Shihouin Yoruichi? She only had stories to make judgments from, and so far everything seemed in place. "So.. Neko-chan..." she started, testing the reaction of the feline in front of her.

Yoruichi's eyes were swirly. The last thing she was expecting was the girl to use shyunpo. "Maow~r," she complained before shaking her head violently. She blinked a few times as her eyes focused on Muriko, who was now addressing her as if she were in her other form (and if her name was Neko-chan). What Yoruichi didn't like was how knowingly Muriko was looking at her.

Belatedly she remembered that real cats can't stare at humans in the eye long, so she quickly turned her head away and began meticulously washing her back left paw.

"Hn..." she bent down to crouch beside the feline as she washed her paw, rubbing her chin some in thought. The cat certainly seemed.... ordinary. Though, it was possible it was just a ruse. Plus, she was acting fairly calm about the whole situation. She wasn't sure, but Muriko thought that if she were some regular old cat, she wouldn't be too keen on being randomly whisked off and locked up somewhere in a really short amount of time. Of course, that was also assuming she'd be able to know she was being locked up in the first place...

She returned her hand to the cat's head, petting and scratching here and there. It wouldn't be so bad if what she picked up was a regular cat. It was just so darn cute! And tame~ Yeeeeh. Having company, whatever form it was, was still better than being alone. But at the same time she had been hoping to meet Yoruichi. There was always a next time, at least.

Might as well assume it was a regular cat and get to naming her.

"Hehee.." she grinned then, scrubbing lightly along the cat's brow. Mmm.. what was a good name...

Yoruichi submitted to the attentions graciously, purring loudly. Though, she couldn't quite say she wasn't enjoying them. She just wouldn't say it.

An ear twitched at Muriko's chuckle, and through slitted eyes Yoruichi could discern a rather amused expression aimed at her. Oh, lovely, the kid was going to try and name her.

Sigh.

"Captain Butterball," she announced after a moment of though, and picked up the kitty under her front legs, raising her up triumphantly to the ceiling as she stood. And stayed like that for a moment, just holding the cat in the air.

"Mm.. no. That won't do at all," Muriko said, shaking her head at the name. "Too masculine." She brought the cat close to her to cuddle, one arm cupping the small body with the other went to the cat's front, absently scratching at her neck and underneath her chin. The blonde paced a bit around the small room, rattling off names aloud. Names that included Fluffernickel, Puss n Booties, Froofles, Ebony Mewette, Lady Fluffmonster, Frau Chocolate and other ones that were highly.... unique.

But alas, none of those seemed to fit. With a small huff, Muriko plopped down on the edge of her bed, placing the cat in her lap. She tapped the kitty's forehead. "If you only had a crescent moon, I could call you Luna." She thought some more on the subject, starting down at the dark feline.

She was completely black, and her bright eyes seemed to glow even with the lights on. Muriko fell back on her bed, raising the cat in the air again. "Have any ideas, Neko-chan?" she asked randomly.

Call me "Luna" and feel my claws, brat, Yoruichi thought sourly, her ears flattening in annoyance. She flexed her claws unconsciously for a moment as she hung in the air, her eyes narrowed.

She got the distinct feeling the feline was not particularly amused with her name choices. Sitting up once again, Muriko let the cat 'stand' on her legs as she still held her upper body. "You want something better?" She kicked her legs up slowly, still pondering what sort of name to give the animal.

"Yoru." It was simple. She was dark like the night. And it was close to Yoruichi. Sort of. "How's that? Good, ne, Yoru-tan?" she grinned down at the cat with a small chuckle, letting go of her to allow the feline to sit on her own.

Yoruichi sat, keeping her wide amber eyes fixed on Muriko. Seriously, what did this girl know?

Happy with her choice, Muriko failed to notice the cat's sudden tenseness. Or maybe she just didn't react to it. "Yoru-tan it is!" she cheered, clapping her hands together softly.

Yup, today was a great day. She was able to look around town and find some old shops she remembered, she met lots of interesting people (despite not getting most of their names), and she even 'adopted' the cutest kitty in the world. But best of all, she had bought souvenirs. "Ooh! Ne, Yoru-tan. You wanna see all the nifty things I bought? It's been a while since I was in Karakura, and I couldn't help but walk in to all of the new stores!"

Muriko sprung up from the bed suddenly, letting Yoru-tan fall to the floor as she made her way to her bag that she had deposited near the door. She knelt and began rummaging through it, pulling out various small trinkets, including a silk fan. The fabric made a faded floppy noise as she snapped it open. Then she turned around to Yoru-tan, holding the object beneath her eyes to obscure the rest of her face. "Lookie!" she said, her voice bubbly, and otherwise highly too perky for the normal person to tolerate. "Isn't it pretty? It's a present for someone already has a other fan, but his is way too plain. This one has a picture of sakura blossoms on it, and it's a pretty teal!"
