The Blessed Gardens

Beautiful, lush gardens where colourful birds sing and the willow trees sway. Very peaceful and calming. The birds sing their songs of pray and the water runs slowly through the gardens

Azreal calmly followed the stream to a golden bench. She gently sat down and watched the water trickle by in front of her. She listened to the birds singing their morning songs.
Eleanor walked quietly through the garden, one of her few breaks she got to spend time without worrying about anything. She smiled as she hummed along with the bird songs. She cleared her mind of worry and fear and let the sunlight warm her. Everything else went ignored for the few seconds as she stood there. She lowered her head, taking in slow, deep breaths. Once she lifted her head again, she was no longer smiling as she had when she walked in, she was calm and back to her role as Commander. Her wings stretched out, casting a shadow along the path before folding neatly at her back. She spotted Azreal as she turned on her way back to her patrol. Staying here a little longer won't hurt anything I suppose? She nodded her head in greeting as she came closer.
Azreal heard foot steps and she turn to see Eleanor smiling as usual. She loves talking to Eleanor. "Hey Elle! how are things?" she asked smiling brightly.
"Hello Azreal." She gave a soft reassuring smile as she sat down near her. "I suppose things are alright, with everything going on, it's getting a little harder, but I think I'll manage it." Her wings shuddered and flicked slightly as she sighed. one hand came up to rub the opposing shoulder. "I need to get some lighter armour at some point, there's only so much strain I can take. She cracked her knuckles and looked upwards with a sigh before looking back to Azreal. "How have you been?"
Her wings fluttered in concern. "Everything is fine, although the children seem to be more troubled these days. I think some evil is stirring." She fell silent. "You seem worried or frustrated, are you sure everything is ok?" she asked as she placed her hand on top of Eleanor's.
She laughed softly and forced a smile. "I'm fine." She lied, a little too well. The truth was, she kept thinking about Jaras and her son. It was unavoidable for her to have constant thoughts of what might happen if a situation got worse, if they'd be affected as well if she made the wrong decision. These thoughts constantly fluttered through her head, but she did her best not to show her concern for the most part. her wings tensed slightly, then relaxed in a small spasm of fatigue. "I'll be alright, I just need to rest a little, that's all."
Azreal frowned. "Fine, I know something is bothering, however it is up to you if you want to talk about it, I can't force you." She held Eleanor's hand a little more tighter. "But if you ever need someone to talk to or just to listen, I'll always be there, okay?" Her face lightened, Azreal knows what is wrong, but it is not right for her to force someone to talk.
She smiled and nodded softly, squeezing her hand back in reassurance. "Everything will be alright." She let her wings stretch out again. "If you do get any leads on demonic activity with the children, please let me know so I can do my best to help."
She smiled and nodded back. "Thank you Eleanor. I'm sure your right." Azreal relaxed and lets her wings fall back calmly. She thought for a moment and sighed, "It's quiet around here these days isn't it?"
"It is, but that won't last for very long I'm afraid." She slumped over, looking downward. "It's just the calm before the storm." Azreal's wings tightened as she looked up with a worried expression on her face, "what are you talking about?" she looked at Eleanor. "!you know something don't you?"
"Ah!" She smiled and waved her hands. "Oh, don't worry so much, it's always like this from time to time.." She rubbed the back of her head. "When you've been don't what I do for this long, you've come to expect it." She took Azreal's hands and gave them a reassuring squeeze. "It'll be alright.... the demons are always quiet when they're plotting something.. That's how we know that they are up to something and we have to plan accordingly." Her wings flapped gently. "You'd think they'd know by now huh?"
She relaxed and smiled again, "Well you know what demons are like, always wanting what doesn't belong to them and that they'll never obtain. She leaned over and gave Eleanor a hug, "I know Earth will be safe while you are in commander"
She smiled, closing her eyes and returning the embrace. "Thank you Azreal. I try my best to reach that goal every day." She laughed softly. "It's the demons we need to put in their place, then we wouldn't have to worry about it." She let out a soft sigh. "But when there is good, there is evil... it's a never ending cycle." She smiled again. "But we'll see through it, I'm sure of that."
"We will, we always do. Evil will never win a battle though, you know that. Evil can not obtain anything apart from pain, and it will cause it self pain after time." She said smiling while thinking how smart she sounded. She is no angel of war or anything important, but that doesn't mean she doesn't now a thing or two about good and evil.
She nodded slightly, but frowned. "I'm more worried about the people they hurt. It makes me question my abilities, if I had made a different choice, would I have been able to save those who were lost?" She shook her head from the thought. "I'm sorry if I've worried you Azreal." She smiled meekly. "I just haven't been able to get much sleep is all."
"You have done all you can. Sometimes we can't save everyone, we can only try." She said reassuring, "Don't worry about it Eleanor, we can talk about anything. If there is anything I can do anything for you just ask."
She smiled. "Thank you Azreal." She ruffled her hair and stood up. "I know I can talk to you." She nodded. "It's just, there are some things I need to do on my own, you know?"
She nodded gently, "I understand. Some things people need to sort out alone, other thing with guidance or help."
She laughed and smiled softly. "I'll see you around then." She bowed her head. "I think I might just go and take care of one of those things before I need to get back to my duties." She waved over her shoulder. "You can stop by any time." And at that, she took off out of the garden and out of sight.
As Eleanor walked away she yelled, "be careful Elle!" while waving good bye. She sat and thought about their conversation.
