For a long moment, violet eyes stared at the princess and Master of Time.
For a long moment, nothing was said, nothing done, as the pain-laden, rage-filled words cut across the small plain, echoing back from the cliff behind them, reflected from the spring that had once been Myria's purest.
For a long moment, as other Saviors arrived, it was almost as though time had frozen once again.
And then the eyes that stared turned black, the smirk appeared, the hand flexed and the arm shook itself of kinks. The black-capped head tilted back, and the laughter rang out, harsh and mocking.
It was not Aren's gaze.
It was not Aren's smirk.
It was not Aren's laughter.
But it had been Aren's hand.
"That's more like it."
It was the Darkness who spoke, undistracted by the last, meager defiance of the Savior Master of Dreams. Undistracted... because it was over?
Two black-booted feet landed lightly on the brittle gray grass, the darkness spreading to taint the very air around the Fallen Savior, their former friend. And what could they do, now, but grant her last selfish wish? Perhaps she had been right, and it was bound to her mortality. Perhaps it thought that they would not strike at someone so dear, no matter how corrupted. Perhaps it was right.
Knight--no longer half-black half striped--shrieked, the hawk's voice tearing at their eardrums as he spread two wings now so deep a red that he once more appeared black. The hooked beak was marked as well as his claws with a brilliant red that resembled blood. The two beady black eyes turned a maliscious crimson. And the pain of loss echoed in that shriek, shredding slowly into triumph.
And the stone of the Amulet shattered, tiny bits of stone turning into miniature shuriken the color of a deep bruise. In the dead grass of the gray, ashen field, somewhere not far behind their former mistress, The black blade Nightmare, and silver bow Illusion faded away, a hum deep in the bones of those present keening what no one else would be able to say.

It was not by decision that deVars launched the grisly blade - properly aimed at the princess' heart. The sounds of contorted laughter reached him at his back. Claire, watching at Aren whispered something at deVars' ear, on which he nodded in approval.

The spinning blade moved gracefully on mid-air catching in winds as it hummed to it's target. Not so soon at it's back is the snake, Laevantainn that marched it's way, with it's fangs in it's full reach, racing towards the blade in a vague hope of catching it.

Or not. Maybe the blade will push through and then the snake will strike the open wound with a lush dose of poison.

Unnoticed by the others, the ferret inched his way up to the princess' nape and began to talk, "You should know - that if you want to gain the trust of your Saviors. . . you need to prove your might in front of them - the strong and unshatterable force that will be the hand that will direct them - and get away from your situation without moving an inch from where you stand."
