I absolutely love the first two games in this series. I couldn't play 3 (UK didn't get it released) 4 and tactics were okay but they just didn't have the same charm.

Anyone else played?

For some reason, I get dizzy playing Suikoden III, so I stopped playing it.

I rented 5 just to see how it was, me liked it. I'm not usually a sucker for the turn based RPGs out there, but I really did like this one. Another good part was how the battles were real time. The story was pretty good too. It made me quite angry at parts, thats how into it I got. My only problem was the fact the Prince(main character) NEVER SPOKE. That drove me nuts. But there were lots of questions for him to answer. It wasnt like Hugo in 3. He could talk, same with Chris and Geddoe. If you want the gist of 3 and cant buy it, get the manga, its really good.

I have only played Suikoden II. It's one of my favorite PSX games. Seeing how pricey it has become makes me happy to have purchased it on release day way back when.

Are the others as good as the second one?

The thing about the price of Suikoden II that confuses me is that the game itself isn't really rare. It's just in high demand. If people refused to pay the absurd ebay prices then the sellers would have to lower them or simply not sell the product.

I have got volume one of the manga but being I am collecting about 4 series at once as well as saving for a DS makes getting more hard. 1 and 2 were great. The stories always drew me in and without knoing it I became attached to the characters. It is what makes it a great game. Though in four I found that this was not as well achieved. Hopefully in 5 I will feel the old suikoden love once again ^-^

I've played all 5, and can pretty much sum it up without giving anything away. Well I will give ONE thing away in Suikoden 2, but I'll put it in white text. Ahem. I still own 1 through 3. Yay me! lol

Suikoden 1. Hero never speaks (Gets used to this being the case...) The base you can build is impressive for it's day, but by today's standerds not so great. But the story and the characters are so likeable you'll forget any age the game shows. The fights are challenging but not overly so, and like a rabid pokemon fan you WILL want to collect all of the stars.

Suikoden 2. THE best one. Period. Again hero doesn't speak. The base is AWESOME. It may be 2D but it is head and shoulders above the 3rd games 3D one. The amount of things you can do, the minigames, even the lil sidestory Iron chef rip off is fantastic. The characters that return from the last game are a bit older, and it's cool you get to see them and what happend after the first game. It takes place just a few years after the first. The relationship that is the main point of the story is both beautiful and tragic at the same time and if you can get the best ending for the game you'll not be able to help going "Awww!!!!" the spoiler I mentioned is coming now. The hero from the last game returns as a hidden character! And he RULES in any fight you bring him to.

Suikoden 3. We go 3D now. The hero? There IS NO MAIN HERO!!!! Oo A suikoden first. Instead there are a grand total of 6 "main characters" some of less importance then others. The stories tie into eachother very well and there are still characters from the 1st and 2nd game that return. The twists in the game are very nice and were unexpected. Course I can't say nuthin bout them. ^^;; The base is a very nice one, large and with many people. It was indeed a lil dizzying as Kupocake mentioned, but I let it slide in order to find out what would happen next.

Suikoden 4. Ok first thing I wanna mention here. WAYYYYY too many random encounters. I mean WAY too many. I acctually forget if the hero can talk or not in this one... I think he couldn't. Been awhile. The base? I didn't like. Seemed too... choked together. Not much to do in all truthfullness. When I was at the LAST part of the game, my memory card erased itself... and so I never got to see the end. Cause I wasn't about to play through that many random encounters AGAIN. And there weren't enough twists for me to stay interested. Also the main characters best friend? HATE, HATE, HATED that guy. Not even in a "Gee, I hate that villian cause he's so evil, but I really like him." kinda way. But a "This character is just annoying and sucks" kinda way.

Suikoden 5. I only got to rent this one. Hero doesn't talk, and... did anyone else think he just looked WAY too girly? Graphics didn't do much for me either. Never got to the base, and didn't like a few characters. Did like the first three and the hero's dad, but other then that? No. Now, I can't say much more bout this game. Didn't play it enough to be fair in my rateing. Just can say my impressions of it. I HOPE it gets better if you get farther along. But Suikoden 4 beat down my love of the series so bad I couldn't bother to rent it again.

1 and 2 still rule though. =^-^=

I have played 1,2,4 I liked 1.4 was ok but I really didn't like 2 because you got a really bad rune compared to 1 and I hated the main character. I think that 1 was the best.
