Scared of the lack of omnimoderators around?
Of course. Where will justice be brought when my account gets hacked?
A little, but I think I can take care of my own account, thanks.
Not really. Most hackers are pretty dimwitted.
Heck no. I destroy hackers! >=D~

I just noticed that there aren't enough omnimoderators around. Heck, they're not even listed on the "Show Moderators" pages.

For those of you who don't know, omnimoderators are users who resolve hacking issues and other similar things. They have the power to ban people for hacking.

Does that mean Gaia Online can't find enough people who are willing to resolve hacking issues, or just don't want to mess with hacking issues in the first place? Quite frankly, I'm afraid about this.

Well it's pretty hard to resolve ifthe hackers have the rights software. Aside from that, how often do you really get hackers that know what they're doing? Most hackers just try to guess while other hackers will invede your system and record every action you make on the computer down to what keys you hit in what order. There's much more hackers can do too if they're experienced. I mean if a german dude can hack into a gaming company and steal thesource code for Half Life 2 then what's to stop some asshope from stealing all the profile info from the Gaia servers?

Aside from that, banning their IP adress isn't likely to work if they know what they're doig either. hackers can route their data and wok through a secondary server/computer. You'd need a freakin' investigator to track down a real hacker. O.o Which I mihgt mention don't usually get caught according to the FBI. Well that'swhat they tod to the comppany that made Half-Life... Until the gamer community was informed and thtousands of E-mail were sent in from gamers giving leads and and info on where the hacker might be and what sights he might be connected to. Which scared the s**t out of him so he turned himself in. Anyway the point is, if we're talking about a real hacker... we're screwed. If we're talking about some n00b who doesn'y know what they're doing their IP will probably be found pretty fast and shut down.

I don't see why a experienced hacker would waste their time hacking profiles though. they coul d probably hack their monyey and items if they were that good. Although that might be easier to trace. Although there are techniques to cover up tracks too.

Those kinds of hackers (black hats, I think they're called) probably wouldn't aim for something like Gaia Online. Obviously, omnimoderators probably don't have that kind of equipment to be able to find out who was the hacker who destroyed Gaia Onlin'e servers. They'd rather hack into something big-time, like other people's homes so they can steal real money.

I'm talking about the everyday kinds that are able to get into people's accounts, the kind that omnimoderators can track if someone with enough evidence reports. If there are no omnimoderators out there and your account was wrongfully hacked or you were scammed, how will justice be served?

I't an account. It reather cheap and justice doesn't alays prevail thats just life. Adding more mods may help detter hacks, but they'll continue. Aside from that, They might not have that many hacking problems. Although I guess there are ways to get around these things. To stop hacks though... Mods would also need to the ability to access Gaia's database and see from which IP adress attacks are coming from. Which might take a while, I don't know since I have noexperience with that sort of thing, but I imagined it'd be rather difficult. Anyway, they're moderators, not a security team, tracking and tracing seems like a bit much for a free account.

True, but I'd feel a hell lot safer if I could just see at least one listed omnimoderator. That brings up my first point. It makes me think that Gaia Online just doesn't care about their users' accounts.

It could be that they purposly arent listing them. What happens if they get hacked and the hacker just starts IP banning the admins and such, though I dont know if that could happen.

Its like the military and the special force Delta. They exist, but they dont exist. Its real just a basic strategic ploy to make people think they dont really have omnimoderators that way when people do get hacked, they can find the hacker and possibly eliminate problem or that they could deny that they have people watching the IPs of all the users on Gaia.
