Yeah, I had surgery on my mouth today. I was supposed to be getting a tooth implant since I'm missing one.
Bad news: there wasn't enough bone for the oral surgeon to put the implant in, so I had to have a bone graft. ;_; Which means that I won't be getting the actual implant till December-ish. Which means my damn braces will be on for even longer than intended. Grrr.
Good news: I get to lay around and do nothing, while being doped up on painkillers and drinking milshakes. Wooo.
So, my point for making this thread is to ask, has anyone else had a tooth implant before?

No but in the future I will need them. I have 4 teeth that need to be removed as well as 8 cavities that need filling. To get this done I need to go to a dentist that offers sedation. The last I checked all that alone was about three grand.

Now the implants would cost a tad more too.

What kind of pain meds did they give you?

I hope you feel better soon. The last time I had any dental work done was having two teeth pulled. No sedation. Three needles, the novacaine wasn't properly done either so I felt the second one. After that I decided sedation or nothing.

But yes do feel better.

Thank you. I think they put me on a heavier form of ibuprofen, some penicillin, and some other painkillers that make me really tired. As for money, yeah they are pretty expensive. According to the insurance people, it was a 'cosmetic' surgery, so they wouldn't pay for it. The implant, anyway. I don't know about the bone graft. Plus, the actual tooth part costs money too. sweatdrop
But yes, I've had to hav some teeth pulled like that. Not a fun experience.

No, but I had my wisdom teeth pulled. That wasnt a pleasant experience. I was out for the surgery. But after the surgery I was done for. I needed food. Milkshakes tainted with blood wernt cutting it. I though I could last on them and will power but I broke after two days without an actual meal. I got "emo" for food. I would stare at a bag os cookies for an hour only to almost start crying for I couldnt eat any and I knew it... hey were just there and it hurt so bad not being able to eat. But the Vikoden and IB Profin mix kept me asleep. Yes that was my painkiller dosage one tablet of each. While iwas on them I made maps for Counter Strike. cool

xd
Emo for food, eh?
I have a really weird mouth in general. I don't have wisdom teeth. Which I guess is okay, because that means I don't have to get them pulled cool .
My sister did though. She was on the couch for about 3-4 days, and slept the whole time.

Vicodin, I'll never understand how stars get hooked on that one. It doesn't do anything. I can understand Percocet and Demoral addictions, but not Vicodin.

Not really pertaining to the topic but I saw Vicodin mentioned and that fired off thoughts in my head, sorry. Medication is a hot topic with me.

I've never had any major surgery on my teeth apart from my braces but the dentist said I may need some. I'm really dreading it because the braces hurt so much that anything else on my teeth makes me really nervous because the orthordentist said it wouldn't hurt evil
