Greetings;

Another great series that I have studied about. Do you know what I am talking about? Go ahead and ask me questions about it. I may not know all, but I know much. Give me a reason to brag. Please...

Thank you...

I thought it was even better than the original muyo series. It is funny and mostly light-hearted. Plus it had Kiyone in and I think Kiyone is great. I can sympathize with her so much.... I loved the time and space episode where she has run away..... oh how I laughed.

I liked the Tenchi Universe one. Tenchi in Tokyo was kinda dumb and the Tenchi Muyo! OAV was...interesting. Funny, but never really wrapped stuff up at the end of the 12 episode anime

Thats what I thought and besides Tenchi Universe makes a point of bringing the loose ends alltogether and solving it and I like the ending it was sooooo sweet and exactly what I wanted. Plus the left it open to be made into a further series which I think was done in the movies...(which I want to see but haven't crying )

Greetings;

Well everyone, as it turns out, the reason that the ova series ended with 12.5 episodes is a result of the writers and directors and such not being able to agree with the direction that it should take. As it was really a pilot series for the others, it was let unfinished, withthe exception that most anyone of the people who aruged as to how it should end all wrote up and animated short Manga for their ideas.
Further, as it turns out, they are inally finishing the series off, adding on new episodes, most of the original voice cast, cruddy CG animation, and so on and so on. I have wiated for over a decade for this, and soon I will finally have my wish!
Tenchi Universe was good, except for the fact that the end fight with Kagato ended the series, a culmination of some 26 episodes building towards a few minute long fight and then nothing. Otherwise a good series, but the OVA was thought out much much better. By the way, the movies do not really connect on to any of the seris, though there are many connections, there are little facts that prove that they are not of the same series at all. I am not one to spoil something so good, so I will leave finding them up to you.

Thank you...

Ahh. Tenchi Universe was really good. Much more random than the original Tenchi Muyo. It was longer too.

I liked the time and space episodes. They were funny. I like alot of songs from the Tenchi series as well. My favourite sonf it 'The lonely moon' most annoying thing is i can't find sheet music for it anywhere.

I'd love to know the name of the music they used for the end credits on TV.

TU was probably the best of the non-canon spin-offs of the OVAs. They kept the characters closer in feel to the originals than Shin TM! (or Tenchi in Tokyo here in the states) and didn't mess around with the designs too much. Throw in the fact that my first exposure to TM! was the first movie, and I think it's a pretty decent stand-alone series.

Having said that however, it just does not compare to the original OVAs. Even with fewer episodes, they go further in depth for the characters as well as the setting. The designs have become more refined in the third OVA while still retaining the original feel.

Now don't get me wrong. I love Kiyone as a character, but it was a poor decision on the part of Hasegawa-san to use that name for her. That name had been reserved for Tenchi's mother from the beginning by Kajashima-san. If you want a detailed breakdown of the various continuities, try here. It's where I learned ALOT about the series(eseses...es). biggrin
