Welcome to the Garden within the Grindery, a lush, green place that is full of life, and home to many types of plant, animal, and creature. The Garden is a peaceful retreat where fairies roam and sing happily in their own fairy-type way. In the midst of all the gears and metal, this is the only natural respite in the offensive tower of the Magic Emperor. Though it is a free area where violence is not permitted, there are still a few of rules which Ghaleon keeps for this beloved Garden.
The rules are quite simple, actually. The punishment for breaking them is even more simple. If you break the rules...you will die.
The Rules of the Garden
1. No cursing. It hurts the fairies' ears.
2. No killing or fighting.
3. Obey Ghaleon's Laws.
4. Follow the rules of Gaia, the Guild, and Ghaleon.
5. If you do ANYthing, and I mean ANYTHING to harm or bother the fairies, your execution will be more painful than you could possibly imagine. Infinity
6. Those who do not follow loyally Ghaleon's empire will be under great scrutiny in this place. If you so much as blink in a way that displeases him, you will be removed and likely, killed.

A woman with long pitch black hair walked into the gardens. She wore a simple pair of black fighting pants and matching crop top. She carried a simple looking sword as she sat on one of the benches near the fountain. Her emerald eys watched the sun set and the darkness of night creep across the sky.
"Ah finaly darkness rises once moe"

"Only to be replaced by the light once more," an elegant voice spoke from the grass below. Crimson eyes peered in the direction of his loyal warrior, and a small smirk graced his pale visage.
"Is that not the law of nature, Onyx?"

Onyx frowned. "Yes it is the law of nature, but that law doesn't govern me or anyone else, you can chose to be light or dark or your predestined to be either." Onyx's emerald eyes closed. "Haven't seen you here in. . .oh. . a couple weeks"

"Hmm hmm hmm..." Ghaleon chuckled, in spite of himself, "so defiant you are, my dear. Relax." The Emporer chided, waving his finger in a light-hearted display of disapproval. "You of all people should know the laws of nature, being what you are."
A fairy fluttered by, earning a soft glance from the pale man. "You see, Onyx...there is a balance," he hesitated pointedly. "That is, there should be a balance. Otherwise, the world would spin into utter chaos. Without light, man could not see...and yet, without dark there could be no light. Is that not the law?"

Onyx smiled as she stretched her hands above her head "It is the law. Though it's no a numerical balance. Like for every two people of the light there has to be two people of the dark. It's more power balance." Onyx watched her master silently before continuing "You for example. If you were a person of the light, it would take several planets filled with the people of the dark, to balance you power out."

"Or a single, powerful being of the dark that could match my strength," he smirked coyly, wondering if she knew just how absurd that statement may...or may not have been. "The world has a way of maintaining the balance, and it is my duty to ensure it continues to do so as it always has," he spoke eloquently of his duty, a hint of...something in his voice.
Crimson orbs narrowed visibly, and his face withheld the amusement...and the answer to a question, "Tell me, Onyx. Have you ever considered that there is, in fact, that the very same balance exists for or within all of us? I know you must have..."

"That there is a person you is the exact opposite of us somewhere in the universe or withing us.. . .I would have to say that there is, but if it is true than mine lies dorminate inside me because I'm the only one of my kind. . ." Onyx thought of something before she closed here eyes. "Thats a scarey yet almost comforting thought. So there might possibly be another Ghaleon that is happy go lucky?" She tried not to wince or laugh at the thought.

"You miss my point, though that thought is entertaining to the imagination," the man chuckled, glancing down at himself. "The thought is that there is a darkness and a light in each and every one of us...and that this knowledge can be the key to unlocking one's utmost potential."
The explaination lingered for a few moments in the clear, garden air. The powerful mage turned his eyes towards the woman. "You take such pleasure in studying the world around you, have you ever wondered if there is a light within you?"

Onyx sighed. "I did, once. I gave up on the idea. Now that I think about it again, it is possible. Though it only came out in certain situations, like with Marie" She blinked her emerald eyes "I would like to see the difference if I did use that. . trainingdoesn't seem to be working any more anyways. It's always darkest just before dawn, maybe it's the same way with people…"

"I had never pegged you as one to give up so easily, my dear Onyx," he prodded slyly, with a mysterious grin upon his lips. "I have always seen such great potential in you, yet you seem unwilling or incapable of the revelation you need to find it. If you were to..."
He trailed off, stepping away from the base of the deciduous growth behind him. "Hmm, I should allow you to discover something on your own, but then..." he glanced over his shoulder, placing a stray hair behind his pointed ear. "Take a look at me, Onyx. I am neither light nor dark, but a combination of both. My intentions are noble, yet, I am not afraid to embrace the darkness to achieve that goal.'
'You see," he raised his left hand, a dark orb forming in his palm. "Darkness is powerful, yet it is only dark," the mage explained, before a light orb in his right palm began to shine and overcome the dark. As he gradually moved his hands closer, the dark began to fade...and as the two converged, only the light still remained tangible.
"Light shall eventually overcome the dark, it is the law of nature," Ghaleon continued, then waved his hand over the orb that now rested in his left palm. Almost instantaneously, the light became entirely dark once more. "The dark shall always return...but never shall one wholly prevail.'
'But when you control both..." he explained, before waving his hand over the orb. As he did so, the light and dark came together, swirling and pulsating with a supernatural glow far stronger than either could have on its own. Suddenly, he closed his palm and the display disappeared from sight...and his smirk deepened.
"Anything becomes possible."

Onyx watched him carefully. Everything he said was true, but what bothered her the most was why she had locked away something that would make her stronger. Her mind began to race back and forth as she watched him. Her emerald eyes shone with conusion at first before realization set in. "Ah man!' She fell backwards and rested with her head on the grass and her legs on the bench. "All this time, I thought Light would only cause me grief and here it can help me. . .I've done some minor questionable things, but all this time I've only been using one side of myself?"

"You are wise beyond your years," he joked, though it was only half a jest. "And knowledge is power, my dear. Never forget that fact."
The Emperor moved silently through the grass away from where she sat, the slight clanking of his armor the only unnatural sounds audible in the air of the night. The darkness surrounded him as he moved into the distance, and as it was in his demonstration moments earlier, he faded and was gone.

Onyx felt him leave as she watched the moon rise above her. She conjured up a cherry sucker for herself. She popped it into her mouth and closed her eyes, allowing herself to fall into herself. She wanted to find one of the many locked door with in her and open it once more. She had once locked away all the light inside of her, inorder to be the heartless killing machine her old masters had wanted.
Onyx looked at all the doors within herself, knowing behind each doorwas a part of herself that she wanted to lock away from the rest of the world. She scanned each door trying to find the one she wanted.
